When I studied abroad in South Korea for a year, I was placed in a very small town similar to that of Goseong (고성). The town I lived in is named Haman (함안). When I learned I would be placed here and the other exchange students would live in larger towns such as Changwon (창원), Gimhae (김해), and Busan (부산), I was sad. Sad that I wouldn't experience city life or have experiences that the other exchange students would. But instead - I ended up having a greater experience than any of them! I traveled to surrounding cities, went strawberry and watermelon picking with my host parents, developed close relationships with my classmates and neighbors in town, went to amusement parks, museums, and so much more. This experience taught me that less really is more and that places such as Goseong (고성) and Haman (함안) are just as amazing as any big city. I'm glad you got to experience the best of both world in Korea, welcome back 😊💗

This video really resonates with me. I’m currently on a trip with my parents to their home town in Vietnam. We visited my grandparent’s graves, went to family gatherings and spent a lot of time together and everything you felt on your trip I’ve felt too 😊

It's amazing how I can resonate with your videos. I'm 36 and I feel the same with my parents and life in general. I've come to understand them more compared to the angry teen and young adult self. My own teen is now like, "I feel like your life is boring" and this tells me that I've matured in just wanting repetition in my life. jenn, i love how honest you are about your relationship with your parents and how it's evolved for the better over the years. forgiveness is not easy, but it is so worth it. i can totally relate! i had a lot of anger and resentment toward my parents, especially my dad throughout my middle school/high school years. it had a lot to do with the cultural differences between Korea and the United States. i didn't understand them & they didn't understand me. but over the years, as i've grown in my faith with the Lord & also became a mother, i have come to have a whole new respect, love, and understanding for my parents. i didn't need an apology from them to forgive them. i also had to take accountability for my own rebellious/disobedient ways. they weren't perfect parents & i also wasn't the perfect child. no one is perfect, only Jesus. it's amazing to see God continue to restore our relationship. 😭💕 God bless you & your family!

I'll be leaving for Mexico for 21 days this summer and I'm extremely nervous. I get to stay with my biological father and learn my heritage and culture for the first time in my life. I have such terrible mom guilt, even though my children are in their teens. It's the first time I'll be leaving them for this long as well.
