This made me so emotional, I’m crying rn. You’re such a wonderful storyteller, and it is true because of the way you moved myself and I’m sure many others. “When your young all you wanna do is grow up as fast as you can. But once your an adult you start chasing moments that make you feel young again.” Never heard truer words than this, you said it best Jenn. I wish I had more time with my grand folks, but time is truly a thief andthe chance to spend such precious moments when you can with family should be grabbed with every oppurtunity. Thank you for sharing your trip with us. 💜

When I studied abroad in South Korea for a year, I was placed in a very small town similar to that of Goseong (고성). The town I lived in is named Haman (함안). When I learned I would be placed here and the other exchange students would live in larger towns such as Changwon (창원), Gimhae (김해), and Busan (부산), I was sad. Sad that I wouldn't experience city life or have experiences that the other exchange students would. But instead - I ended up having a greater experience than any of them! I traveled to surrounding cities, went strawberry and watermelon picking with my host parents, developed close relationships with my classmates and neighbors in town, went to amusement parks, museums, and so much more. This experience taught me that less really is more and that places such as Goseong (고성) and Haman (함안) are just as amazing as any big city. I'm glad you got to experience the best of both world in Korea, welcome back 😊💗

My dream is to visit Korea with my family. Growing up Korean American, I wasn’t taught the language and didn’t get the chance to bond with any Korean relatives, I feel like I was cheated out of a family. Watching this made me smile, I’m so happy you were able to have this experience, I pray one day I will to.

It’s been 20 years since my dad visited Mexico, and I just visited after letting 10 years passby too. I wonder what it could be like when we visit together… it’s weird i’m more familiar with his home country than he is, yet he’ll always know it more than I can. This is such a beautiful montage of moments and words!

Yet again another video of yours that makes me tear up bc your ability to tell your story is so intimate. I love your take on “love beating language barriers”. It can be really uncomfortable to try to engage, but I’m so happy that you did. Often times we hear that we’re not (insert ethnicity/culture) enough based on how much of the language we can speak and it can be so discouraging. Instead, I think it’s just as important to make effort or time to spend with our family members of all generations, listening, and remembering their stories. You look so happy and fulfilled, Jenn! 🥹

It's amazing how I can resonate with your videos. I'm 36 and I feel the same with my parents and life in general. I've come to understand them more compared to the angry teen and young adult self. My own teen is now like, "I feel like your life is boring" and this tells me that I've matured in just wanting repetition in my life. I just replied with "as you grow older, maybe you'll see it differently". :) all my moms side is over in Korea, maybe I should go visit again some day. Thanks for sharing your experience!

jenn, i love how honest you are about your relationship with your parents and how it's evolved for the better over the years. forgiveness is not easy, but it is so worth it. i can totally relate! i had a lot of anger and resentment toward my parents, especially my dad throughout my middle school/high school years. it had a lot to do with the cultural differences between Korea and the United States. i didn't understand them & they didn't understand me. but over the years, as i've grown in my faith with the Lord & also became a mother, i have come to have a whole new respect, love, and understanding for my parents. i didn't need an apology from them to forgive them. i also had to take accountability for my own rebellious/disobedient ways. they weren't perfect parents & i also wasn't the perfect child. no one is perfect, only Jesus. it's amazing to see God continue to restore our relationship. 😭💕 God bless you & your family!

I have such terrible mom guilt, even though my children are in their teens. It's the first time I'll be leaving them for this long as well. It's extremely comforting to hear you say "people who look like me. For once I'm the majority". Even though I'm half white, I've never been able to delve deep into my half Mexican race. With all the meaningless content that is being thrown at us in the internet, TV and more, to see someting so honest, so simple yet fullfiling, so accurate in terms of what really life is about, so well produced and presented for us. UH! ♥️ You are a gift to this world. Please, never stop creating content. You are all I watch when I need to feel good about life. You are so transparent and honest that I believe every single word from you, even the Advertisment! Jajajaj 😊 Again, sweet girl, you are a gift to our world 🌷 Greetings from Guayaquil, Ecuador 🇪🇨

I'm Korean and live nearby Seoul. I visited to Busan in just last April to enjoy skyline luge and Lotte World Adventure which recently opened in Busan. Gwanganri beach was the best place ever I visited there.

2 minutes in, and I'm in tears. Ah, I miss my parents so much! Thanks again for putting out the most inspiring video. I should call my parents and tell them I miss them and I love them.

omg Jenn I discovered you in your clothesencounters era when I just started feeling a little confident communicating in English and now I'm 29 and only recently I started learning Korean by myself so watching your interactions with your 이모 and understanding some phrases felt so warm, rewarding and like I was just learning and growing with you! thank you for sharing this experience with us 😊

When you said you went to 고성 I thought you mean the one in 강원도 but apparently it was not! 😅 I lived here Korea for 30 years but never had a chance to visit there. Seems super quiet and peaceful!
