This setup is useful if you grow like this....multiple topping and a long veg (it must be longer than 60/70 days I guess as I never went this way...and I hate cutting my plants!)isn't the way I and I guess a lot of other growers go...I have to veg during the flowering period of the others so I choose scrog with a solid net to use it to train the plants and a few pinching to keep everything uniform and use all the space available...so I get multiple tops I grow horizontally so plants are shorter less than 3 feet! But for people who like tall plants why not if the gpw is interesting...I pull 1.7/1.8gpw on average so I use all the lights and space

I used under lighting in a few of my grows and I had a lower bud go from i wanna say about a 2 gram bud to a 9 gram bud easily. Along with all the other smaller low buds I was seeing tighter and larger buds. If I do underlighting I use 4 T8 full spectrum L.E.D 4 ft bars in my 4x4 and 3 2ft in my 3x3.

It is an interesting concept but as someone has already commented, it has been tried before in the good old days. Lighting has moved on since the fluorescent tubes that people were trying to under-light with back then but even with the 301b or 301h diodes, i believe that it would be better utilised by having an extra over-light in a new 4x4 - 5x5 grow space. The under-lights will not produce 1g per watt of extra product imho which is why i think that for the cost of the light and power it would be better to have an over-light in a new space but i still think it is interesting and worth further experimentation since the led lights these days have massive ppfd and dimming them down to 60w should suffice for most people and give those bottom popcorn buds a bit more bag appeal but so would cutting the top of your plants at harvest time and giving the bottom sites an extra week with the light lowered down towards the canopy slightly- roughly the same cost to run 2x 60w under-lights in a 4x4 for 7 weeks as to run a 750w over-light for an extra week.

Yes. While there are several ways to increase lower plant production, each has their pros and cons. Been growing for almost 30 years. Under canopy lighting is nothing new, and has been done for decades. There is a reason why it never took off.

I'm just going to wait until some 3rd parties do some side by side comparisons, and give a cost to reward breakdown etc. There is no hate, just cautious skepticism. Happy to see someone not stripping half their lower leaf sites! I agree on the sugar benefits. Some of the LCG I just harvested had beautiful midsize buds on lower half. My Hova Cake lower/ mid plant bud was extremely resonance. Plus add a different Terpines profile to my smoke. Been growing 35 years. I know stripping the lower promotes larger tops. In 100% living soil, those lower mobile nutrients have helped me maintain the upper canopy through the next top dressing schedule. Used halide / HPS. Just did first grow with AC Infinity Evo diodes. Heat and electric bill benefits are night and day.thanks for your enthusiasm.

This grow im doing I laid the new AC infinity strips around where the trellis net sits hitting the lower bud sites that don't get the full power from the lights as the tops do. The lower epidermis (underside) contains the stomata, which breathes Co2. Excessive heat can cause the stomata to close, reducing photosynthesis all together. Chloraplasts are located on top, but there is a small percentage located on the underside, so, in theory, you would gain a small percentage. That's if your temps are high enough to close those stomata.

You do not need anything overhead then a 600 watt LED overhead light and 3 Undercanopy Lights (360 watts) to get insane results and incredible quality. All strains in house are now doing 80-124 grams a Sqft with 9 - 1 gallon pots and a 14 day veg.

I just wonder what it translates to revenue wise. If I use more lights I have to use more electricity in my setup all together. Yes I might get more A+ nug sizes but at the expense of how much electricity + investment of under canopy fixtures. So how many runs until it equals out. Also adjusting your system to such additive going to be a different work rate. Increased at that. Could be a blessing or curse. Just some things I wonder. Not hating though 👌🏾

Ill say this.. the plant only has so much yeild potential so maxing out yield at the top canopy is what you want. You dont want your main colas being limited in weight potential by the smaller nugs on the lower canopy. If you get bigger nugs on bottom the top nugs will be slightly smaller. Balancing its self out. Everyone should know the dutch table method yeilds the most because its small pots growing only the main cola across the whole grow space, if plant count is a concern then you cant benefit from this methods HUGE yeilds.

But it also fixes the color variation the flower has through out the canopy top to bottom. Instead of just purple up top into green and white sub par flower its solid purple throughout the canopy and beautiful buds on the bottom finishing properly. That 42% is across 12 strains, some yield less 35% some smash 60+ % more. If you are on instagram go to @craft.farmer

@@CraftFarmer i researched after this, and my conclusion is based on the studys i found also that you have a slightly wider terpene profile, nugs get more ripe, and the yield will increase up to 25% in substances, not dry weight under lab conditions i beliebe. So in the end its more kind of an enthusiastic thing to do for cannaseurs. Consumers will pay more light, deal with the ligths and the extra cost added make it not worth for a average consumer or professional. If i could i would basically now, but im not willing to spend on extra lightbars right now. We run our over head lights angled. More light makes it lower than horizontal over head lights. We also lst to fit sexually mature plants in. So we can have 25 node plants in flower. Plus we dont have to lollipop them. And whole plants is in best producing light. Which the stretch in there plants says too little light. The buds arent stacked but actually stretched in their room. This is all proven by math and yields. It don't pay to grow stems. Bare stems without bud is a waste. It dont pay to let plants grow up towards light. Your better off in prime light than lowering plants or raise lights as plants need. Running lights and plants not in optimal grow distance is wasting electric. Its commercial not a home grow. Electric and labor cost the most in a commercial grow.

No bull crap try mirror material it doesn't have to be expensive just something that we reflect the light back up the bottom of the plant

The waste of money on fixtures and electricity and you'll never get it back there's not enough yield in life production just ridiculous😂😂😂😂

Typical commercial SOP’s concentrating on smalls. Those plants have had no training and it’s just blow and go (same feed for everyone) and nothing is catered to the individual pheno. This isn’t craft marijuana @ all

Wow. The difference between a successful grow and failing is math. They could grow more bud and less stem. Too little light and way too much stretch. Home growers let there plants grow tall into prime light. Commercial you only grow in the best light. Whats it cost to grow an inch of stem? Figure out what is the farthest away from light you get a decent bud. Thats where canopy should be going into flower. So your not wasting 2 feet of growth. And wasting bud growth in order to grow stem in flower. Growing stem in flower is such a waste and sign of way low dli for flower. I wont even waste time trying to flower plants that stretch like that. Thats loosing half the bud. Lst it in veg. Move closer to lights in flower. Its worth the labor to lst in veg. Giving even canopy in flower. Up to 80% cost of commercial is electric and labor. Use your labor wisely. Solar electric is waste 10 acres of solar to grow one acre. Must money in commercial grows is wasted in veg. Do the math. The math teaches a lot about cost per yield and where the waste is.

Why would you veg so long to have 3 feet of legs that you’re going to get nothing out of? It seems like a waste of grow time.
