In the 90's I used to skip high school and go to the zoo by myself just to be in nature. I remember Charles used to sign language I love you then jump and smack the window and scare you. Lol. Even after school days off work during the day just go chill at the zoo by myself for a few hours.

That's an incredible story, the zoo is absolutely the perfect space for that. When was the last time you were back?

So that's a thought... and I'll be frank there are some places that have horrible conditions and offer nothing to the betterment of the animal kingdom. But that's not the case for the Toronto Zoo, they have massive amounts of research and charities that HELP these animals and are actually champions of the space. They focus on habitats, enrichment etc. Their research facilities allow us to better understand how to help. The longevity of the animals also tells that tale. Also without these institutions then most of the population would have no real world connection to why they are important and care less about deforestation, poaching etc. Blanket statements don't help the cause.
