This officer is articulate, compassionate, and intelligent, and warrants serious respect. His message is powerful and effective. I hope the right people hear him and make a change for the better.

*Black man speaks* (not) a casual racist: omg so articulate! This is such a surprise to me for a reason I can't quite put my finger on...

@@Shonji_Ikori bro shut your stupid ass up it was obvious malingnor was complimenting the way a police officer could explain a difficult problem to address in an easy to understand way it has nothing to do with race.

@@mikeyhicks4151 I mean just look at kodiak express' comment and tell me it isn't about race. Casual racism is common and being surprised at a black person's ability to speak is an example of it.

You can tell he's not just saying what he has to say to look good (like nearly every politician). He clearly cares and is passionate about making a positive change. I pray this man keeps speaking his message to the public and climbs the ranks because we need sincere people like him.

Dealing with the Skid Row experience is different than preventing folks from becoming homeless. High housing costs cause homelessness. Being homeless creates the Skid Row experience.

yes - of course that is how a mentally ill person that struggles to survive is going to respond - that is an aspect of being mentally ill. many people may not even be of sound enough mind to even know that they need help, may not be of sound enough mind or afraid to ask - or who to ask; and likely not have any idea what their life could/would look like if they were to get some help.
