As a college graduate (2011) who wanted to be there, even though it was a very liberal public university, I completely agree with the sentiment that college is pushed and marketed as an essential thing for everyone. It’s an idea that has been pushed for a long time. And it’s bunk. Everyone does not belong in college. If I had a dollar for every person I know (or know someone who knows someone) with a masters degree that has no business getting a bachelors degree, I’d have about one hundred dollars.
