I LOVE that movie, but character wise, it just wasn’t the real Punisher. - Punisher was never a cop - Wasn’t in the Army - Doesn’t drink alcohol - Prefers taking out bad guys with bullets, not complicated plots to cause them to betray their friends because of photos - Also is just the personification of rage, while Jane’s just seemed more depressed than anything All that being said, I still LOVE Thomas Jane’s Punisher movie.

The ONE TRUE Punisher is the comic book version. Here’s what each actor best brought to the character on film. -Dolph Lundgren had the size & muscles that is needed for an accurate Frank Castle. -Thomas Jane had the cold blooded attitude & sharp mind necessary for Frank. -Ray Stevenson had the scary look & intimidating deep voice that Frank needs. -Jon Bernthal brought the vicious aggression & brutality that Frank uses to win the fight. Be great if the next actor to play The Punisher has all those qualities!

Thomas Jane was a kick ass Punisher in a cheesy movie. He reprised the role for proof of concept video (called, “Dirty Laundry”) that was put out a few years ago. Very cool worth checking out.

If I designed my own Punisher M16, it would feature a 3.5-pound flat-bow double-stage trigger, a 15-degree pistol grip, a flared magwell for easy reloads, cowitness glow sights with a 1-10 FFP LPVO, an M-LOK rail with a picatinny rail section for a handstop and a tripod, a Magpul sling, a HuxWrx 556k suppressor, and 60-round magazines.

Classic Punisher of the 80/90/early 2000s was vastly superior to anything that came after. The writers in some respects really were morons in the later years. The Punisher would use something that gave him the advantage over the hordes of guys he had to fight. While he could use anything to perfection he would rock a Battle rifle with an extended magazine/drum that gave him the advantage he needed for that situation so caliber adjustment ammo type and what not for the purpose. Frank Castle was never a psycopath or mentally unstable. FC was always a thinking, rational highly motivated killer that wanted to eliminate criminals/evil. Until the idiot in charge go back to the original content on the Punisher it will never appeal to the masses.

Bernthal is a PAB compaired to Thomas Jane's Punisher. Thomas Jane has the intestinal fortitude to say he loves guns and said Personally, I love guns. I believe in the right to defend myself from tyrannical governments. I don’t want people breaking into my house. They don’t print the number of lives saved by folks defending themselves with firearms. We need education. There should be mandatory training and firearm safety. That would save lives. I grew up with guns. My dad is a hunter. I got my safety training early in life. Once you respect the power of the weapon, you understand it. Once you understand the tool, it’s hard to imagine people abusing it. Bernthal said he has a gun, mentally ill should not get one, and hopes his Punisher starts a dialog. I knew Sam Glen at the Specialists prop rental company from shooting Ironman 3 Gun with him. I sent them a several sets of parts to assemble into complete prop guns during this time frame. Loved that Punisher series. Still do not understand why they cancelled a series that had good ratings, and had so much potential for more story lines. I think they could have easily ran with it for 4-5 years. Maybe with the Punisher character getting airtime in the Daredevil movie, there is hope to re-ignite the great series. (John has said all along, he is in if they decide to bring it back)
