Hello there! Hi Sharon im from the Phillipines and new subscriber here.I deed enjoyed your video.Actually, we do the same here although use of washing machine (manual & automatic)is common some still use hands(the traditional way) in washing clothes.Personally, i still wash by hands tho i have washing machine.i soak the clothes w/detergent in washing machine then run it afterwards rinse it 3 time by hands then afterwich i return the clothes back to the dryer.Rinsing by hands gives me satisfaction. By the way, we use a small chair in doing the hand wash sitting.some houses do have laundry sink so that they hand wash the clothes while standing.

Oh wow, that's a great experience and I can see that we also have some similarities in how we do laundry apart from the washing machines. By the way, mostly when I do hand wash manually, I also prefer sitting down on a small stool to save my back 😍😍. Thanks for subscribing...love the Philippines 😍😍

Oh! I forgot to mention. I also use a bar of soap. It’s called Zote Soap. I use it to spot clean/treat stains that I’m worried my regular detergent won’t get out. ❤️💜💚

Bless your heart! Thats a lot of work! I have a washing machine now. And it is just my husband and I as our children are grown and out on their own. I have had to wash mine by hand before. I would use my bathtub and kitchen sink as it was too cold to wash outside. And when I had my children (four boys!), I would go to a laundromat. No disrespect but if you are not familiar with what that is, it’s a place/business where you take your closes and pay to use the washers and dryers. Some places you can pay to have your clothes washed and folded. I believe you pay by the pound but idk the going rate. Laundromats in some ways are nice because you can wash multiple loads at once so you can get your washing done rather quickly. Only thing is I personally think that washers and dryers at a laundromat are kinda hard on your clothes. Maybe because they seem to run rough and the dryers run hot. Maybe that’s just me. I don’t know? Also the cost of doing your laundry has gone up since I was going to a laundromat. When I went it was $1.75/load to wash and $1.50/load to dry. I think now it’s up to three dollars to wash! I wash once a week, sometimes twice since it’s just my husband and I. In fact, I’m doing our laundry today! I have a washer and dryer and I’m so thankful for them. I’m sixty so I’m glad I don’t have to haul my things to a laundromat. That would just be tough. However, there is one close to my home. They are nice to go to if you have a very large blanket or comforter that needs washing as they have those very large machines that hold large items like that. Okay, enough of my blabbing. You’re a doll. Are you married? Have children? Have a good day! See you again! ❤️💜💚

Thank you so much for taking time to write in. I love that you have shared your experiences regarding laundry and I'm so happy we get to learn from each other. At your age, I also wouldn't recommend hand washing because it's quite engaging, unless you are washing light clothes which again should be less. Growing up, we had no alternative to washing clothes and most people did it by hand. It is only recently people have started embracing the washing machines which have in turn made the work easier. But this has also created employment because you can hire someone to wash the clothes on your behalf but at a fee which many today opt for.

@@sharonatieno6880 I spent 3 months at a time in Uganda several different times. I hand washed my clothes while I was there. I tried to wring them out to get as much water out as possible, but it hurt my hands and maybe pulled the clothes too much. So I just hung them up pretty wet and let them drip and then dry.

Sorry about your experience with hand washing 😢 your hands need to be used to it, otherwise if you wash a lot of clothes all at once, the rubbing can bruise your hands.

Fine job indeed! Thank Christ you have kept the skill alive and in a (good) use, cause many here in Finland are absolutely dependent on machine-solutions and ready-to-use -washing products, and that is a sign of a falling civilization..... As for myself, again I'm learning some very valuable stuff from Africa :D

Hello Milla, thank you so much for your wonderful comment and I appreciate you taking time to write in. In Africa, we mostly keep these traditions even with civilization because it is how we grew up. When we were kids, we would go to school from Monday to Friday, and the weekend, we would stay off school. Somehow for everyone in the neighborhood, Saturday were known as 🧺 laundry days. We didn't have the machines, it was all hand wash. It was lots of fun when we could all meet with the neighbors to do laundry, wash the school uniform, socks, handkerchief etc so as we grew, the task became more engaging since we had gathered the experience over time. It was just a way of life and we cherish the moments....it also brought the community together as people would do laundry as they tell stories 😂 😆 your experiences through the week, how school was, your challenges and the like. Also, we have a variety of detergents and most of them say that they are gentle on hands so we always go for the favourable ones. However, the bar soap would equally do the job perfectly. When you soack the clothes in advance, you will have such an easy job. Sorry about the arthritis , I hope you are managing well. Wishing you nothing but the best, and good health too!

@@sharonatieno6880 Thanks. Jesus has taken me into a healing program, where He first started to heal my mind (been going on for several years now), and then my body (since the body cannot heal without the mind wanting it to heal, at least in the long run). It's a very long process and one of the most important things to be needed is patience. Hopefully the healing will never end since there is always something even better God could do if we accept His help ^.^ Life's a journey..... That weekly gathering sounds awesome. I've done some studying and writing about the importance of the traditions and methods to pass along... Not to copy the past but to find better ways to cope with the future, to benefit from the knowledge of how people before us have solved their problems. Times change, people change, enviroments change and it never hurts to get a few pointers here and there... and friends! I would like to hear more about the conduct of school uniforms. How practical they are and do you have any opinions about their effects on the progression of the individual personality. I personally think that school uniforms would protect the individuality of a person since so many teenagers are more or less victims of marketing drafting for the benefit of whatever corporate guild that wants to make their customers a walking billboard for their brand. They have to pay race-car managers so they would have these brands on their race cars and here we have generation after generation teenagers who pay the corporations (or make their parents pay) so that they could walk around as their advertisements... Also I guess school uniforms would protect the teenagers from making an ass of themselves (like I did) but then again I guess it depends much on the uniform-design. Pros and cons? Milla
