It depends where the non native English speaker learned english. If you learn English in the US or from American teachings you will have an American accent, if you learn it in Australia you will have an Australian accent. My best friend from Germany sounded like she was from the UK because that’s where she learned her English dialect from.

Former pro-ballerina here, and your comments on this are spot on, and probably overly kind 😂. The world of ballet is a lot harsher than most people realize and you really don’t make friends (I was in NYC and it was brutal). People always said I must be so creative (which I am not), but ballet is more about being a great mimic and a great technician. You are there to bring the choreographer’s vision to life, not your own. Normally when a young, creative dancer says they want to be a ballerina I tell them don’t do it. And then I show them my feet 😂. I’m glad you found other art forms where you can express your own style of dance - I think you are both wonderfully talented artists ❤

Not to mention how many ballerinas end up with eating disorders. The pressure to stay thin and light enough for lifts etc. I remember reading that Blanchine required his ballerinas to have the skin of "a just peeled apple". Oh my!

So glad to hear your relationship felt like the most natural thing in the world. I had a similar thing with my husband. We had known each other for 3 months when we went out on our first date. He took me to a nice restaurant and we talked for hours. His parents just happened to be visiting that weekend from interstate so I met them within hours of our first date and before my mother even knew I had a boyfriend. He even left his parents at home the following night to come and visit me. We got engaged 6 months later and have now been married for 20 years. I wish you guys all the happiness in the world.
