Tough as nails too! You can run these things with no oil, and they'll keep running lol! Had a friend with a Chinese 125cc 4 wheeler, it practically was the copy of this engine, and he abused the thing and let it run out of oil, that motor was still running after the frame broke! EVEN THE CLONE ENGINES ARE GOOD!

I was a kid and my first bike was one of these back in the 60's. Tops out at 20 mph? Sounds like you're in low range. I used to change the high/low range by shutting the engine off, put the bike on the center stand to get the back wheel off the ground, slowly spin the back wheel while moving the lever from "L" to "H" or from "H" to "L". In high range, you should get around 50 mph. Mine was red, too! They're lots of fun, and in low range it would probably climb a tree if it could get traction!

This takes me back to 1978. Bought a CT90 off an old school friend for the princely sum of $80 running and still registered. Got my learners permit and it was my sole mode of transport from then until I bought my first car in 79. Back then fuel was under 20c a litre here in Australia and that CT cost me about $3.00 a week to run.

Carb Cleaning Tip of the day: #1. Berryman’s Carb Dip , comes in gallon paint can w basket inside to contain parts. Just be careful, if you leave the parts in the solution and forget about it.....Forgettaboutit! It will literally eat and I mean eat the entire carcass of the carb!!!! But under normal soak times this stuff is amazing!! #2. If you don’t have access to Berryman’s, get an old pot..... NOT YOUR WIFE’s NEW POTS YOU GOT HER FOR CHRISTMAS!!! Get an OLD pot and mix up solution 50/50 of lemon juice ($1 at.... well the $1 Store) and Pinesol ($1 at.....well the $1 Store). Take carb completely apart , remove any rubber or plastic parts and put them aside to clean with an OLD toothbrush.....NOT your Wife’s Toothbrush! But place the plastic parts and rubber parts aside and put remaining parts, jets, springs, and body of carb into the 50/50 solution and bring to boil in the OLD pot, be sure every 5 min to move the carb body into another side of the body so boiling splutters into all nooks and cranny’s if carb! Immediately after bringing to a boil for approx 15 min, allow to cool slightly and then IMMEDIATELY submerge parts into hot tap water so there isn’t a shock to the parts temp wise and once cool slosh around, blow out all parts w air and then I use a healthy dose of WD40 to displace water.... cause after all WD in WD40 stands for “Water Displacement”! Then blow everything out w compressed air again. Reassemble and get to get’n!! I’ve cleaned around 25-30 carbs this way and works EVERYTIME! Stay safe and shiny side up!!

old memories, my first bike was a CT-90. picked it up for $60, didn't run-missing side covers-wiring all pulled apart. Late 70s(1979 I think)so I was about 15, bike was '68 or '69. Took me a couple days to get the wiring all sorted out then had to do the carb cleaning. You looked like I did when it finally fired up and ran. couldn't wipe the smile off my face without a belt sander! LOL

I have rebuilt MANY MANY MANY carbs and the first thing I do is take pics of everything before I disassemble the carb, when I remove a screw I take pics and bag everything. Once I remove all plastic parts I then take all the metal parts of the carb including the body of the carb and I simmer on the stove (yes I have a dedicated pot I picked up from the thrift store and an old crockpot) all the metal parts in a bath of 50/50 mix of lemons juice and pine cleaner. I bring this concoction to a slight boil then remove then back on and off each time the 50/50 mix boils back and forth about 10-15 times so the bubbling mix goes in and out of the carb body ports and jets! Then after 10-15 minutes of this process I let it cool then rinse THOROUGHLY several times in cool fresh water then remove all the metal parts and spray them, including the carb body, with WD40 to displace water and blow out w air! Then a 5-10 min bath in a jewelry ultrasonic cleaner ($25-30 on amazon) In a bath of same 50/50 mix mentioned above then rinse parts include the float that was in ultrasonic cleaner then thoroughly blow everything out w air spray everything w WD40again then blow out w air again and reassemble making sure you inspect jets for any blockage during assemble! I’ve never had to remove and repeat this process again after doing this process exactly as I mentioned above! Every carb I’ve cleaned this way has ran perfectly when reinstalled in the bike. Be sure to count how many turns IN the jets go before backing them out of the carb when disassembling they carb so you can install the jets in the same adjustment level when reassembling they carb. If you do this then the carb should need only minimal adjustment to idle and air mixture screw when doing your final turn to carb. Yes it’s a process, yes it might sound repetitive however you can follow this old school method and do the reassembly and reinstall once or you can shortcut it and do the remove, clean, reinstall over and over or follow this old school method once and get back to enjoying the bike! Try it out @SRK and then you won’t have to pay someone else to do this!

Had a CT 90 and a CT 110 and loved them! Important to note: only the trail 90 has the low/ high gears. Trail 110 looks identical but does NOT have low gears 😒 I live in Duluth, MN and ride I my trail 90 all year round! Great in the snow. So, rock that $#!T brother!! God bless the lot of us!

Those C-series Honda motors are bullet proof. Overhead camshaft too. I once fired up a C50 that had been sat outside for at least 3 years and it started after a couple of kicks on the fuel and oil that were in it. True story. Blessings.

When I was a kid on the family farm up in Manitoba we had six of these that we kids used as transportation around the farm. We started riding them once we were big enough to operate all the controls. In my case that was the year of my 7th birthday. The farm mostly grew wheat, 60,000 acres of it. It was not and is not a small farm, (my cousin's kids run it now and I think it's doubled in size) so these Trail 90s (and a pair of Mini Trails) were perfect for getting to any part of the farm in under an hour, bring guys in the field parts, lunch, water, etc. Good times!

Brief synopsis of this vid- motorcycle shop owner charges 6v battery with 12v charger, takes apart a filthy carb, calls needle valve a jet. Satisfied he can see through main jet puts filthy carb back together. Shocked and frustrated it does not run. Blames it on kick starter and wishes the tiny 50 year old bike had an electric start. I’ll tell ya what, when everything is set-up correctly on those old Honda’s their damn near indestructible, I had 1 when I was 12 yrs old , I had 5 summers o fun on that damn thing...then I traded it for a down-payment on my first car, lol. My mum went everywhere with it with me on the back from the age of 3, had special little food rests made... Any old bike that will start but dies when you give it gas is a clogged jet. They can clog in less than a year if the fuel goes bad. Nice ride, I like farm bikes! I bought a trashed TW200 and brought it back one time and it was some of the most fun I ever had on 2 wheels.

Honda CT90 Trail. 6v battery. No clutch lever... centrifugal clutch... just let off the gas, shift, and back to it. 4 gears. The battery manages the power running through the electrical system, so if you run them with a bad or dead battery you'll often start blowing bulbs :) They still use these bikes in Australia (new ones are 12v) to deliver the mail and are nick named postie bikes. Milk crate on the back is almost mandatory :) If everything is dialed in right max speed is about 45ish, downhill and sounds like a sewing machine. The good ones have a high and low sub-transmission you flip with a lever. I learned to ride motorcycles on a Trail 90 up in Alaska as a little kid. We'd take one with us when we'd go salmon fishing in Alaska to the Copper River near Chitna. Dad was giving mom a ride up a hill, hit a mud puddle and hit the gas to get through, when he hit dry ground the front wheel came up and mom went off the back into a mud puddle. She was mad at him the whole trip. Great little bike, though.

You can get a 1 gallon bucket of Gunk carb/parts cleaner from any auto parts store. It has a dip basket in it. Just remove all the rubber from the carb then let it sit in the tank over night. Remove from the bucket then use spray jet cleaner to finish. Work very well on those old carbs.

I love it! I Learnt how to ride on a honda 70. Back in like 1970, the first 4 speed with a clutch, we had a blast with it, running from the police. They finely caught me on it,, 5 tickes, and spent 2weeks in juvenile jail😂

get yourself a ultrasonic cleaner, and some Berryman carb cleaner bucket(1-5 gal), disassemble carburetors, place the parts in the ultrasonic cleaner after scraping some of the major junk off. "cook" the parts in the cleaner about a hour.. profit. 4 less hours work, and squeaky clean carbs.

So pro tip from a motorcycle mechanic. It’s not always just the Jets that can make a carburetor run or not run. There are many passageways inside the carburetor or air and fuel flow. If any of them are dirty the bike won’t run. The correct way tear the carburetor completely apart hot tank the actual cell of the carburetor, then put new jets in. That should take care of his issue.

I had a friend from church fix it up and get it going and a year later I did it like Sean...I’m driving it home (20+miles) A 1972 Suzuki 100cc off-road/ on road. And like his videos it didn’t go quite as planned! I think it’s more for off-road and not meant to be on the road!

Little tip, those old honda 90s dont like having the air box off, they really don't like to start cold without that back pressure. It's one of very few old small bikes i couldn't tune or mess around with. The later cub 90 was better, i fitted a snorkal to it and dubbed it the honda cubmarine as it was used for offroading

Cool old bike. Dual range gearing is interesting on an old bike like that. Long time without the air filter equals not enough vacuum and fuel starvation resulting in not enough upper end lube (the gasoline cools and lubes the rings and valves.). Hope there is not much ring wear. Get a filter on it and the higher vacuum will have it running right with likely a lot more power. Hope to see a video of how it does when you are done with it.

Bit of advice. Go to harbor freight and get a sonic cleaner. Set carb in for a hour and walk away. Come back reassemble and it’s clean.

Its the points or fuel. They flood easy so always turn off fuel. i used to pull the plug out and burn off the gas in the cylinder with a match, i was 5 or 6. lol ...Honda Super Cub is still the best made motorcycle in the world. Here in Canada right now they are selling for almost 2 grand. And they are mostly worse shape than that one. I had a collection of 42 harleys and have been riding for 61 years. Love your channel and your humor, you and I have the same craziness but big heart. I have only started watching you but I am binge watching you like Breaking Bad. LOL

For the money you want the Honda trail 70. I owned one probably a few years newer than the one you found maybe 80ish I swear by it. When I out grew my Honda 50 from probably years 5-8 I got the newer trail 70 and if you like that old pos 90 no offense the you would love the trail 70 it was street legal really cool we had a pair of them and my dad and his friend rode them a few times your video brought back a lot of awesome memories:)

You need a welders tip cleaner set...or get a cheap ultra sonic cleaner for those jets. Love those old honda we found a trx200 4 wheeler 35years old for my daughter runs like a top now.

In my 65, you don’t need a battery at all, It simply regulates the power flow for the lights and keeps the tail light on in the event of an emergency.. lights go dim and bright, not enough current produced to blow the bulb at high revs either
