I'm planning a garden room build in the summer so watching with great interest. I'm keeping mine below 30m² to avoid planning and building control.

What would be a ballpark figure for the groundscrews on this project Robin - as up until now we have been putting in bases the traditional way - footings - trench block etc This could be a great new method for us.

Can these screws be used in an areas that get deep frozen ground?
@protectiongeek3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for another great video, Robin. We have a garden 'pod' (approx 5.3m x 4.3m) that was built just under two years ago and it is installed on 12 ground screws. It is absolutely solid; no problems at all. We're now hoping to add an extension to the rear of our house (bog-standard semi; built 1994) and wondering if we could build the extension off ground screws too. Has anyone had experience of this or heard of it? Is it allowed under building regs?
@jamesbartlett50053 жыл бұрын
Clever stuff. Do you have to radar map the ground first to avoid pipes etc
@dplatts143 жыл бұрын
I would have mentioned that before drilling anything into the ground like these that you call the utility companies - they have a service called 'Dial Before you Dig' or similar where you can get plans of the locations of Pipes, Gas mains, Electric Services etc.

I want to use these for my decking but I’ve found my ground is full of loads of old bricks and hardcore waste. Had trouble putting an earth rod in so I don’t think these will be an option for me😭

I built mine using www.groundscrewcentre.co.uk/products.asp?code=GS-750 with extension kits (GS-EXT600/300) and a few GS-4x2PREM brackets to support 4x2 base. 16 screws in total for a 4.5 x 3.5 garden office. Just over £1k for all (separate SDS drill needed for pilot holes).
