If humanity were to be an aquatic species, we would look similar but with different features. Our body would be more streamlined and with fins to maximize speed. Our eyes wouldn't be needed, maybe we would rely on echolocation like dolphins. We would have hair to provide warmth for us. Our skin color would be blueish in nature for camouflage. We wouldn't have become sentient due to no ability to make fire, as it incentivized intelligence. The ocean is a bit too hostile to allow for any sentience to develop, only way is for us to grow two legs and then walk on land. We would remain as instinct driven competitors to dolphins, being hunted by sharks and stuff.

It actually took a remarkably short amount of time unless you're going all the way back to the beginning. The Wright Brothers first flew in 1903. By 1969 we landed on the moon. That's 66 years. Of course we're still making advancements to this day so there's no end in sight but if you were going to use any event as the seminal event in aviation, it might as well be the lunar landing.

Thats actually a good one. Native americans and far east siberians would have more similarities, although they would still be vulnerable to european diseases. And once the european powers entered America, and then the Russian Empire expanded all the way across Siberia, they would meet. Alaskian and Canadian demographics and culture would be different, as it would have more russian blood in it. Maybe Alaska would even remain russian, and there could be some disputes with Canada as the russians might wanted to expand even further in. But due to the remotness of said land bridge if it existed, I'm not sure it would change much of history in regards to World War I and II. Until the Cold War that is. Imagine the Cold War but with US and USSR having an actual land connection.

Few extra WWI plane facts: Pilots had to where multiple layers of coats and such in order to stay warm. They would fly at heights that are actually illegal to fly at today in America without extra oxygen. Furthermore, the guns being on top of the planes were not always used by a second person. For many planes, the pilot would have to stand up out of his pilot sit, control the plane with his legs, and fire his machine gun in short burst. The clip (actually not called a clip) in the machine guns can be emptied in less than a minute. If he emptied it, they would have to change the clip for second and last one, with process that is A LOT more complicated than it you may imagine. Also, the cockpits were super small. Like child size small.

ah WT....how much I used to play you....almost 300 hours according to steam. Not anymore unfortunately..... Nice video. I wasn't expecting this. Since you mentioned aircraft carriers, I'd thought you'd mention the first all metal monoplane to operate from a carrier (the Mitsubishi A5M) and the Japanese were the first to carry out an aerial attack from an aircraft carrier.

Also another reason for biplanes being first, is that building techniques to build a long wing that was strong and light necessary for a monoplane did not exist. So instead, two smaller, shorter wings were used.

The No. 6 airship flew 17 years after La France. The 14-bis was built 3 years after the first Wright Flyer, and was of a monumentally inferior design. Consider your mind changed.
@ragnarokstravius20746 жыл бұрын
@@Meirstein 14-Bis, the self propelled vehicle that flew in front of hundreds of people, gave Dumont 100k of French money (francs?). Again, better than a catapulted glider.
@Meirstein6 жыл бұрын
All of the Wright Flyers were powered, not gliders. The Wright Flyer III, built a year BEFORE the 14-bis, was able to fly in a 25 mile circle. The 14-bis couldn't fly the length of field in a straight line without crashing multiple times because it had a useless and dead-end control system. Putting wheels on a plane does not mean you invented it.
@dr.thomassmith34976 жыл бұрын
Aviation is powered flight, The Wright brothers first flight (Airplane, the main Aviation vehicle) was on 1903, while Dumont was too late and his powered Airplane set off in 1906. Wright brothers are the fathers of aviation, not Dumont.

PITCH, YAW and ROLL. ALL THREE, flying is controlling ALL THREE. Santos Dumont did NOT control ALL THREE. If you argue that to be flying does not mean controlling all three planes of movement than you might as well add other half assed attempts before Dumont. If he was discussing Nuclear bombs and missed someone in the same vein as Oppenheimer or radios and missed Enrico Fermi, you can bet the Americans and Italians would be peeved. @noname117spore6 жыл бұрын
The Wright brothers used catapults beginning in 1904. Their first flight was done in a strong headwind, but without using a catapult. They did achieve low altitude straight-line flights in 1904 without using either a headwind or catapult, although it seems one of the two was needed for the early Flyers to perform more complex flight paths. But Dumont wasn't able to do complex flight paths until 1909, so it really doesn't matter in regards to who was first.
