This is the overall plan on how we want our homestead to be laid out. What each area will be used for, where future buildings will go, fencing, etc. We have a grand plan for this property, it will just take a few years to achieve it. We go over the plan along with a video tour of the property.

Hi, Evan and Rebekah! I am so glad I found this video today. It’s interesting to see how the farm looked before all the building started. Y’all have come a long way.

I've followed you guys for a couple of years. I probably binge watched every video a couple years ago, but its interesting to look back again and see which plans stayed the same and were followed through on, and which plans changed. You guys have come a long way.

Wow you’ve come a long way in just 5 years. Especially considering you both have jobs away from home. Congratulations to the both of you! I wish nothing but the best as your well thought out plans continue to unfold!!!

We have 30 acres, and built our homestead in 2011. One thing we we should have done was plant privacy barriers immediately between us and land we do not own. We now have several neighbors -- one who positioned their house to point directly at our house. My brother's land which was out in the sticks when he bought the land now has a gigantic subdivision going up behind him and to one side -- which shows you need to be pretty far out of major population areas or they will surround you.

You are living every man's dream by living in a country atmosphere. I admire you for this. As your obstacles arise, face them as a challenge to learn and move onward. I wish you and your family a long and happy life on the homestead. Great plans and a great video. From an admirer in Texas.

The animals will get used to the noise. We live in a subdivision in name only where each lot is at least 5 acres, but over half the residents have shooting practice in their back yards. The horses have gotten used to all kinds of loud noises, including fireworks, doesn’t faze them

The hill could be fill material from the pond. As you are aware, you want to tie that foundation down. Keep the foundation from shifting. You have many wild animals that like chickens. My earliest memories, growing up on a farm, is taking the heads off and gutting out the chickens. Taking the feathers off is what I hated. This was done so our mom could cook them for Sunday dinner. We were land rich but dollar poor. Regards...

Great layout. As a farmer/Homesteader I am divided in the cost effectiveness of a small farmer as myself myself in raising your own hay. I have learned over the years by the time you purchase and maintain the equipment to do so you are far ahead by patterning with a custom bailer and purchasing from them. I still own a square bailer and we bailer some square bales for our goats or stalled animals just because it is becoming more difficult to find square bales in my area. Best wishes Diversified acres homestead.

I grew up in Central New York State. My dad worked at a local natural gas pumping station as a mechanical engineer. He purchased 125 acres of land from my grandfather. This land had been in the family for generations. My dad spent years working a full time job and developing our farm into his vision for the property. He built a house. He built a two story barn and a pole barn. Then, developers started buying land around ours and building houses. Soon the property in the area went from farmland to residential and the cost per acre soared. The taxes became overwhelming for the 125 acres. He had to sell the farm and purchase a house for us with the money. So sad to watch our heritage land go. The developer who purchased the farm marked it off into building lots and made millions. The good news is that, years later, a property owner that purchased a large woodlot that we had retired and they turned the land over to our local land trust. So now the land is protected and open to the public to hike and enjoy!

Shredded bark path way to the blind/viewing tower for quiet access. Concrete pad for the shelter/grilling area by the pond possible lp gas line/power from future cabin site to shelter so direct tap of cooking gas for cookouts. Just a couple thoughts. Oh yeah truckload of sand for the beach/swimming area by the shelter. bol

Questions... Is the cemetery your property now or is it public property ? Do you have to allow public access for family members of the deceased ? Is the cemetery allowed to have others buried there without your consent ? Are you allowed to have your own family buried there ? Also if others are buried there can they make you enlarge the property to accommodate more deceased family members to be buried there ? And last but not least are you allowed to relocate the deceased ? I ask these question because I had the opportunity to buy a property that was 50 acres and it had a 2.5 acre cemetery on it. Well I decided against it because I did not want the headache of dealing with family being afraid of being haunted so to speak...lol
