Congratulations on catching your quail. She knew where her flock was. Good Job.

After we put her back in #1 pen she hid in the corner for two days. Only coming out to eat and drink. We have a lot of stray cats in our area.

Thanks, the system worked very good, but now we live in eastern Washington. The area gets too much wind for our greenhouse plastic. So we built a barn before the plastic got torn off by a wind storm, which happened a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks, we now live in eastern Washington on 20 acres. Too much wind here for a greenhouse, so we built a barn. Just a couple of weeks ago the plastic got torn off by a wind storm.

Would you need to buy that special feed for quails or you can feed them something else?

Do Partridge and Pheasant cross breed? Close enough related for the offspring to be fertile?

Do you have any issues with fighting and cannibalism with the Chukar or Pheasants? We run grass-fed operation down in Oregon with Lamb, Chickens, and Geese. last year I added 100 Quail to the mix. Awesome and easy to raise but was disappointed with the lack of grazing. I've read that chukar will eat grass and forage pretty well, so am really interested in adding them as the game bird portion of our mix.

Well, we never had any issues of any kind. We hatched them, raised them, then butchered them. All the while had them with 2 Reeves pheasant s, and don't reminder the countless quail with them as well. We only had 8 Chukars, they where a lot of fun. We won't raise anymore due to the meat being stringy and tough.

If you want them to live in grass but not a cage you can cut the chuckars wings

Great, when we had Chukars we ordered from a chukar farm. Our quail eggs come from jamesmariefarms.com super nice quail. Really large over 14oz at 6 weeks. Eggs over 18 grams when fed 30% protein game bird starter from Perina.

Our daughter makes plastic feeders out of storage containers with a 4 inch tube out the top about 2 and a half feet tall. Just to give more feed holding ability.

We no longer raise birds in our greenhouse but in a barn. Sometimes, we mix guinea keets in with them. Funny to watch the quail just growl a little.
