Listening to Cara talk about how her initial blocking felt stiff explains animation struggles to a tee! The worry of pushing a character too far or too little (even without an existing reference) is always a tough balance to achieve. Props to her for nailing the look in the end 🕺

This is amazing. I was hoping we'd get to see a discussion behind this video, and here it is. For me, the claymation feel of it is EXACTLY what I felt like a remake/HD version of Earthbound/MOTHER 3 would look like. Everything about this, to me, is perfect. The lighting, the models, the textures, the animation, and the font. (Shoutout to Curioglyphic) Can't wait for the part 2 discussion. (And let's get that reference video of Cara doing the Wess Dance XD)
@peterduprey72863 жыл бұрын
There was a taunt Lucas had in Project M that did this dance. It took a very long time and there was a hitbox at the end that killed in one hit. Your animation looks way better.

In my experience in recreating animations from 2D, you always feel like there's more of a restriction. On one hand you wanna be as accurate as possible but sometimes models just won't do what you want them to do and the complications with keyframing make ya feel like you just wanna strangle yourself with the spaghetti you made. Ya kind of have to think outside the box with the tools you have and add your own little bit of extra to compensate. Absolutely love the Osohe Dance she set up, I kind of wanna do that myself now.

One thing I also liked about the animation was that the frame rate reminded me of pixel sprite animation, because pixel sprite animation also requires that same sort of lower framerate, even if you wanted to increase it you need to have those strong keyframes, like megaman’s 3 frame walk cycle.

I have mixed feelings regarding not making more detailed eyes for the characters when they are being updated with more detailed _everything else_, but I also totally understand that there's precedent for doing that,with the official clay models of the previous games as well as the Smash Bros versions of Ness and Lucas, and also that it's something that official art really gives no hints at, so you'd be interpreting that part of the characters entirely by yourself.

Jokes aside, movie models are subdivided for renders, so the base topology is often well below 100k (not counting things like hair particles, cloth, or other things that get simulated), but for renders, the subdivision puts the model well into the millions!
@Boomrainbownuke96083 жыл бұрын
@@artsyomni im more speaking how many it has that is being impacted by the hardware.(or is it the software? idk im not an engineer) ive seen what movie models usually look before. including by doing the same thing myself. i just find it silly that a model for a game would have that many polygons. when you really wouldn't notice any difference if it was less unless you zoom in really close.
