How We Remove Heavy Overspray From Paint

My neighbor left his wife’s truck in the driveway when they got a new silicone roof coating on a windy day. My birthday present to her was removing what felt like a 300 grit sandpaper overspray finish on her F-150. Took two days but it came out perfectly. Sooo many clay bars used.

Goof off is what I used last time to remove overspray. It did magic, and did not damage the clearcoat at all. Maybe you've given that a shot, if not do so. Saved me a lot of time and money.

Yep, that also works too. Goof Off, Citrol, and Rapid Remover are all great options based on the severity of the overspray

Yes, I try to use a chemical to weaken the baked on overspray, then I use clay bar. I like to use 3D one finish the paint.

I was introduced to a product called Motsenbockers Lift Off and it has been a miracle product for us. Had heavy spray from graffiti on the train during new vehicle transport, and it did the job easier than anything else. It says latex paint remover, but I've used it for all sorts of bonded contaminants, even tree sap and iron contamination. Basically whenever I've got something tough on the paint, I try this first. It is water based and can be used with clay as well for more effectiveness. As a solvent, my go-to is Stoner Tarminator, does much more than tar and sap as well.

I tried Ivan LaCroix's razor blade method and it worked crazy good. I do it all the time now.

Hello, what would you advise to use for 2 k spray can over spray that I am surely going to have because I am loosely masking a small area over wheel on truck and not clearing the whole panel. Thanks

I hate overspray, I just refuse to book customers for that service. That is the one thing in detailing I don't have the patience to do.

Any chance you guys got a method to clean off overspray that is throughout my interior being dash n plastic trim . I live in ca.. as ive heard a orange product out there that i cant get.. tried goo gone. N other products with no luck

Why wouldn’t u use the nano skin 6 inch buffing pad?

The heavy grade clay bar has a tougher "bite" than a clay mitt. This is the few times where we go back to the clay bar

The razor doesn’t scratch the glass? I’m a little afraid to do that . Also it’s clear coat overspray. It’s been a struggle 😅

@@emjayy9527 NO THE RAZOR DOESN'T SCRATCH THE GLASS. IT HELPS TO USE A WINDOW CLEANER FOR LUBRICATION AND ANGLE THE RAZOR. AND USE THE ORANGE RAZOR FOR THE PAINT IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING THAT REQUIRES IT. IF YOUR AFRAID TO TRY IT. GO TO YOUR LOCAL JUNK YARD AND PRACTICE THERE. NO ONE WILL CARE. JUST PRACTICE ON A MESSED UP PANEL AT THE JUNKYARD UNTIL YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE.

@@emjayy9527 No it does not scratch your glass, just hold it at a slight angle and use some water or lube and gently scrape the glass and you will be fine. You can do it dry but I prefer some type of wetting fluid to help.

lacquer thinner and a white cotton t-shirt and this would have came right off. You would have been done in 30 minutes.
