I began using a da last year on my Volvo, and due to subscribing to and learning from your videos, I did a decent job correcting the paint. I recently found a car I couldn't afford back in the day, but it needs paint correction. It's an 07' Acura RL and I believe it falls into the category of soft to medium clear coat. I don't want to mess up the finish on this old car, but I do want it to have the best finish I could provide. I could really use your expertise, and I'll begin with what I've done so far: I clayed w/a mit; bug&tarred, de-greased, etc. Did the mechanic cut with 3D One...using lake country 50/50....but it left a lot of scratches and car-wash remnants behind and not a lot of gloss. My local 3D distributor recommended that I use 3D AAT 505 to get gloss, and it worked....but the bulk of the imperfections remain, and I'm at the limit of my brief experience. Everything I've learned in the past year has been from you, but I need MORE help!

Good advice. I have old over spray because someone decide to pain our door. I tried compound but its tough. I tested 5000 Grit on an area and it did the job very good. Use some of your favorite car wash shampoo with water to lubricate. Be light on the strokes don't apply too much pressure. Do a test area first. You will notice the difference instantly. I want to try 7000 My pain is old I don't want to destroy my clearcoat.

What grade wet sand should I use for stain overspray? Like wood stain.

I painted the roof of my truck with a 1k urethane and, well, my freshly painted hood got painted as well. Tried clay, cutting compound, nothing touched it. Had to wet sand 1000 on up. Comprised 90% of my clear, gonna have to respray the whole hood. 10 minutes of prep could’ve saved me a day and a half of headache.

Any advise to remove clear coat over spray? I failed to cover a side fender area I put clear coat on and the wind took it to the bumper. I used turtle wax rubbing compound and Meguiar’s compound (#1) but they didn’t work.

I used spray max 2k clear coat on a hood repair..BUT I didn’t cover whole car now the roof and half the sides are covered with over spray 🤦🏼‍♂️ any thoughts help !

Why do you want to keep temperature down? Obviously I'm here because I have overspray all over my truck pretty bad, all over my tail lights, headlights, plastic trim windows, everywhere. Need help!! Are you removing any of the ckearcoat using 3000 grit. Just bought the truck and wasn't ready to damage the clearcoat so fast!

I need help, I got a bass boat, the gel coat needed to be cut and buffed. But instead the guy who owned it bought rattle cam clear coat and spray painted the whole boat with the clear coat. I’m sure it looked good for a few weeks from 30 feet away. But now 5 years later i need to remove all the rattle clear coat, without hitting the gel coat. I’ve tried cutting compound, but I’m only polishing the rattle can clear coat. If I get hard enough on a slot I can finally burn through the rattle can clear coat and get down to the factory gel coat. But it will take 56 years to do the whole boat this way. Any ideas to remove the rattle can spray paint clear coat, coat?

Please look into denim pads... If you haven't already. They're said to be the equivalent to 3k grit sandpaper. Two ways of using then, depending on how aggressive you are: To remove orange peel or to remove over spray. I'm thinking about purchasing a pack myself but would love to see your thoughts.

What should I use to remove Dupli-Color Spray?..I sprayed on part of clear-coated hood and didnt like how it turned out.

I had to go down to 400 but test it on a piece of sheet metal. DupliColor is pure trash it is a lacquer paint which doesn't last anyway. It'll never mix properly out of a spray can so go buy a spray gun and a used compressor and do it right. You will need good paint which isn't cheap.

Hi Brian, had a nightmare here a few weeks ago when a friend turned up in his WRX Impreza that prior to arrival was one of the best examples on this side of the planet with less than 10K on the clock & a six month old coating of Gyeon Mohs + (no, not me) Unfortunately his next door neighbour was respraying his 1980s Yamaha RD 350 (Kenny Roberts Yellow & Black) in his back garden. Bright Yellow overspray all over his Impreza & Audi Q5 which unfortunately had burnt through Mohs+ & into both vehicles clearcoats in the space of a couple of hours.. Impreza paint depth readings in 70-ish microns with some just below into high 60's so very unlikely to be enough clear coat to polish out thousands of burn spots without compromising what clear coat is left. Not a job I was prepared to take on irrespective of kind words about strikethrough should it happen, I didnt/dont need that stress. Any thoughts, potential actions appreciated ?

A light polish is as far as I would go. What was left of that clear should be spared.
