Concrete has been around since Roman times, and wood has been known to rot forever, so why the hell did anyone ever think building a house on wooden stumps was a good idea? Anyway, awesome job mate - I've just put in a bid to buy a house in Melbourne that needs relevelling, so if I'm successful and you still have those jacks I might be hitting you up 😀

Who knows. Must just be easier back in the day. They worked with what they knew.

Restumping requires a building permit to be obtained, for the work to be completed by a registered builder, a domestic building contract to be in place (depending on the scale), and mandatory inspections to be completed by a building surveyor. Given the location and slope of your land, it is also possible there are planning overlays that may trigger permit requirements for buildings and works. Meeting these legislative requirements no doubt goes a long way to accounting for the difference in costs.

None of the quotes or costs include permits or inspections. All quotes were just for the works only.

How did you go about making sure the house was kevel when using individual jacks
@Huntingforgeorge2 ай бұрын
You’ll need a laser level. Probably something we missed when costing this up. You could hire one or buy one, a good one isn’t cheap but something you will need. But you choose a starting point. Something that is at the correct height you want to reference. Usually the front doorway or next to a fireplace. Something that hasn’t sunk. Then you just level up and keep clerking everytime you move something.

Back for "Re-stumping Part 2" sounds like some icky horror movie sequel along the lines of Saw, for amputee fetishists. Much prefer THIS type of video, and can't believe your hard work. Well done.

The wall wood doesn't look good from here...and the soil look very soft...would it be better if you just torn down the house...first you can make strong concrete fondation first along with buried septictank and waterline...then start building up with steel bones...😊😊😊
