Oh dear! Design might be brilliant; but so dark and dreary, despite the sunshine outside. I had to put subtitles on and lower the volume too; as I couldn't hear her that well above the music. Not for me.

A fixed feature stain-glass or patterned fluted glass in the pantry / hall divider wall would bring some light into the pantry nook.

Great video! Lots of great ideas, some of which are in our kitchen remodel. I’m definitely in the open concept side of things because that works really well for our use. On the other hand, tartan is not something that will ever be in our house! Way too busy for my eyes! Glad I found your channel!

So glad you enjoyed the video!! And I think open plan can work with clearly identified zones, you can still do this through furniture placement and rugs too! ALWAYS do what works best for you and your home!

Hey there! Yes, but we don't use 4x4s in Australia. We used 100x100mm posts.

Superb vid! I get frustrated by trends that are simply the opposite of a previous trend, such as do/don't use grey as your neutral and do/don't create an open plan. Feels like this is a ploy to make us chase our own tails. But all your suggestions are useful and the images beautiful.

It is a ploy!! As a designer myself (graphic identities not interior) one thing I do know is that designers want to design. We always want something different. So when someone realized that bucle fabric hadn’t been seen in years, they used it and other designers jumped on board with the new hot thing. They spent 3-4 years telling you to run out and buy a beautiful, elegant, textural bucle chair or sofa. Just recently, I’ve read a number of “trend” pieces that say bucle is out for 2025. Designers now say bucle is overused and you don’t want to have the same thing your friends or neighbors have. Sooooo, get rid of beautiful, elegant, textural, and expensive piece of furniture you purchased a couple of years ago because it’s no longer hot. It’s a sham and manufacturers thrive off of our high-consumption, disposable society and our bank accounts suffer. Best advice is to take account of trends if you are planning to sell within a trend cycle (typically 4-8 years). Otherwise design your home the way it makes you happy. Also, thank you Lucy and team! HFG is by far my fav home design platform.

Nice piece of sponcon here and I love all the personal touches. I've got a question that's maybe too much "Princess and the Pea" but it's one that's troubled me for years. When you have the bedframe on two different surfaces (hardwood floor and rug), do you consider putting a little piece of foam or some other sort of lifter on the legs that touch the hardwood floor? Same sort of question applies to living rooms and other spaces where different flooring surfaces may support a chair or the like. Thanks and keep the room transformations coming!
@Huntingforgeorge3 күн бұрын
Great question! We haven’t put felt protectors under the back legs and honestly haven’t noticed a thing. However I do always do this for example a chair leg that it hanging off a rug. I think because there is more movement with the lighter weight of the chair and wanting to protect the floor. Great question, thanks for watching!

Would love to see a video not on trends but on ‘tasteful’ choices in decorating. Yes, materials, colours are interesting and preferences shift over time, but the art is in how much and how varied in a space. $10-20k of expensive furniture and accessories can look just awful if poorly chosen.

Can you still use marble, granite and stone for kitchen benches and backsplash of has that been banned, or is it shipped pre cut?
@Huntingforgeorge10 күн бұрын
You can still use marble, granite and stone but in Australia certain engineered stone is now banned, best bet if you’re unsure is to google the government website as the rules are slightly different per state.

Thanks, way more practical than most vids ) Couldn't quite see how bearers are attached to the house. Are they screwed to railings with andan angled screw or similar. Did you have to dig any holes under the house in tight spaces. Thats my prob in NZ, at one point i got less than 2 feet high with which to dig holes in. Using garden digging tools ).
@Huntingforgeorge4 күн бұрын
Where we had sccess we used the threaded rod and a nut on top that comes with the new stumps. Where we couldn’t get in we used strapping and screws.
