Brandon Shulver I’m doing the new gcse spec for bio(aqa) and phys(aqa) but the old spec for chem(edexcel). I just got my mock results and I only started revising mid November this year. I never made any notes or anything. It may just be my revision style as I am really good at reading things over and over till it’s in my head. I know they say you shouldn’t do that but it works.

Okay I'm in year ten right now and my school made us do 1 gcse in year nine to try show us how much work we need to put in. Personally I just like recapping after lessons and trying to answer a few questions based on it e.g. Maths you could make 6 mark questions on inequalities on a quadratic graph or in re if you learnt about life after death you could answer a 12 mark question on it. That's what I recommend you try to do if you are in year 10

I don't understand why Those doing GCSE' now are so worried about doing hours of revision from September? Why worry about making flash cards and notes as you go along in year 10?? I mean for every subject now that's just making it way more work than it needs to be, I feel like everyone is putting too much pressure on themselves. I've seen youtubers post GCSE mocks 9 hour revision!! And Its just making everyone panic, Like sure, keep some mind maps and notes for odd things you don't understand, and revise before your exams, but there's no need for that excessive work load, it's different at A level because it's only 3 or 4 subjects. But with GCSE you've got like 20+ exams to revise for, no one can work that way for that many exams. If you just listen and work hard in class, you'll find you probably won't even need that much revision to get top grades

I get you I mean like if you haven’t got any exams the only thing you really need to revise is the stuff your not 100% sure on. But there’s no harm in making notes as you go along and loads of comments are saying how the wish they’d made revision notes in year 10 so making a couple of flash cards per topic isn’t going to over work you because you can do it when your bored instead of going on your phone. Although I do think that you don’t need to be hardcore revising every night because when it comes to gcses you’ll be almost dead, however if you do no revision in year 10 and then are expected to be revising literally every night in year 11 it’ll be harder on you because not only do you need to make notes for year 10 and 11 but you won’t know your style of revision so it’ll be more stressful trying to figure that out. Sorry a bit of rant there no hate just stating my opinion lol

The one good thing about doing GCSES in Wales is that the work you do in year 10 you end up doing the exam at the end of the year. So I’m currently in year 11 and I’ve already got my English lit, Maths, Numeracy, Short course Welsh and half of my science (I’ve done 3 units) GCSEs, so it takes off so much pressure!

that’s amazing, but everyone is right about crashing and burning! my friend spends her life revising (our exams are in 3-and-a-half months) and if i’m honest it’s really not doing her much good; i’m quite worried about her. i’ve obviously started revising and i do about two or two-and-a-half hours an evening, but overdoing it really doesn’t help- especially if you’re doing it for long periods of time and late at night!
