As someone who applied last year my biggest advice is to start small. Start listing the extra things you've done regarding your course. So just in your phone notes as you do them or as you remember them start like: NCS, magazines/articles, additional lectures, work experience. Once you've done that, open up a document and flesh each little point out. Explain what skills you gained from each experience and why it makes you want to study your course/ why it means you'll excel at uni. From these fleshed out sentences start grouping them into paragraphs. For example, my grouping was : Biology (and relevant work experience and articles), chemistry, extra curricular like NCS, extra curricular drama. That kind of structure. Then there's your first draft. Just remember your personal statement will feel awkward to write AND read but that's the nature of it. Also the first draft will be awful. That's just how it is. Take your first draft personal statement to a teacher and ge them to read for spelling/ grammar mistakes and to ensure it reads well. Correct anything the teacher tells you to, then take it back to them and repeat until they say it's good. If in doubt you can then take it to another teacher and another. Get it checked as many times as you feel like you should until it's perfect in your eyes. And honestly it's really easy to do this. I did mine in the summer and got it checked and I'd sent my UCAS off by the second week of October.

Everyone warns about the jump from GCSE to year 12 but NOBODY warns about the jump from year 12 to year 13. Personally, I found the yr 12 to yr 13 jump was much bigger, so if (like me) you didn't find the jump from GCSE to year 12 that hard, please be aware that year 12 and year 13 are NOT equal in terms of work load and difficulty!!
@songstudio4062 жыл бұрын
Can you please explain?
@angusroberts1492 жыл бұрын
@@songstudio406 she said that 4 years ago 😅, I think what everyone means is that the amount of time you need to be investing in your revision needs to increase. E.g you may have to do a lot more homework’s in a week or set lots of independent learning on small topics. Or you may be set a past paper to do in class or for homework.

Even though I’m going into Y13 this year, a tip I’d give is clean and sort your room ready for next year. Last year, I really noticed that I revised more often/more productively when my room and desk were clean. I’m also sorting the stuff I put off like my wardrobe so I can store ironed clothes in it, making getting dressed in the morning 10x easier (my wardrobe was just full of crap that I didn’t want in my room but didn’t throw it. I feel so much better now that it’s gone and I can only imagine how good I’ll feel once the room is fully done and the rubbish bags are gone)

summary : 1 - get some coursework done!!!!! (esp history ) 2 - if planning on going to university - do research, compare universities, think about if you wanna stay at home or move into accommodation, and make sure you know which course you want to do (if unsure think about which subject you enjoy, write down what things interests you and have a look from there) 3 - personal statement :( - summer of year 12 - 13 need to read books, articles, do work experience, so you can write a list of relevant things towards to your personal statement, have a go at writing it (first draft) so you're not struggling and it's out of the way 4 - make sure you have all the essential revision notes from year 12 to revise it during year 13 (flashcards, mindmaps, online notes, whatever helps you to revise) so that it is all there ready for you and so you're not running behind - anything you struggled with in year 12 go over it for the last few weeks of the summer holiday, just go over some of the content of year 12 so you don't fall behind in revision 5 - enjoy your summer, don't revise all day everyday, you deserve a break and deserve to have some fun before year 13 starts, go out friends/family if taking 4 subjects and finding it difficult think about it over the summer and consider dropping it, if you want as you would rather get 3 amazing grades than 4 that you aren't as proud of Good luck and don't over work yourself too much or stress yourself out you've got this and hopefully you will get the grades that you want and deserve :)

A tip for anyone going into Year 13 - notes organisation ! I found it so helpful before the start of year 13 to list on a word document all the different resources I used for revising each subject or certain topics within a subject (e.g. for geography I used 2 different textbooks, a revision guide, my teachers PowerPoints, then certain online websites I'd found etc.) as then I could make sure I had covered every piece of information necessary from my year 12 content and know I was using the best sources to collate different sections of my notes. This definitely helps to then condense notes later on as you know you won't be missing out any information that might come up in the exam xx

I would also say that it's vital to give yourself the time and space to rest. Year 13 is very hard and very stressful, so using summer as a way of resting and enjoying yourself to prevent burning out in year 13 is so, so important. So, yes, do a bit of a recap and I 100% recommend at least a first draft of a personal statement, but also make sure to do give yourself time to do what you enjoy!

And of course the other steps n ways in this vid .Thank you jade and thank you *the one who's reading Let's make this year full of success.

Thanks to your videos i've already started studying and learning the content. I'm glad i found you in time, keep being a positive brilliant influence. Hope to meet you one day and have a chat :) x
