HOW WE SAVED OUR SICK PET OSCAR FISH

Not long ago, we started noticing our pet oscar fish acting very strange. It was laying on the bottom of the tank and refusing to eat. 'Ray' the oscar was not himself and was acting very lethargic and not responding to us when we walk into the room like it usually does. We were certain that he was sick but had no idea what was wrong.
In this video, we will trouble shoot to see what is wrong with our fish and solve the problem. If you have a sick fish that is laying on the bottom of the tank, please watch this video so maybe you can get some pointers on how to bring your fish back to health.

Hi. Bought 3 Oscars as babies in September 2022. Two are doing great, big and healthy. 3rd Oscar is slightly smaller than the other two. Couple of days ago noticed she’s not eating and yesterday she’s lying on bottom of tank. I’ve noticed the other two Oscars are trying to bite and poke her. Should I separate then treat? Thanks

Oscars are very dominant species. Any smaller fish they will bully. You might have to separate them.

Hey, nice video. i too, have oscar it is 2 months old about 4 inch from past 2 weeks my fish is flashing and i dont know why he is healthy always eat his feed i do regular water changes but he does not stop flashing

I watched this video this morning and I removed my Oscar's from their tank and placed them back into their original tank, they're now active and actually moving around. Apparently I have an ammonia issue in New 55 gallon tank. Going to do everything you've shown here and try to get them back into the 55 gallon

I'm having the same issue but by other fish are all fine and my Oscar comes up to eat sometimes and eats normally and then goes and lays weird again

Hmmmm. Is the tank over crowded? They do that due to some sort of environmental stressor

Help!! Hello I have the same size oscar and it has a little issue i don't know whether it's parasites or glands, effected area is under the mouth and between the gills area idk how to explain it, it bleeds when my fish stretches its mouth (while eating) but the behaviour is completely normal but some times it just stay in bottom, no changes in the appearance as well Idk what to do can you please help!!!🙏🙏

Helping u out a little if your still having problems. Keep ph - around 6.8 - 7 / don’t let ph get to low it’s acid - acid is ammonia. This leads to tank syndrome dead plants causes ammonia also /add a little crush corral this stabilizes in a natural form - more acid in water this will dissolve use in filter -flowing water. if needed. -use purigen / chem blue elite / helps with a phostate / as u properly know you need nitrites to eat ammonia - then nitrates eat nitrites. - but u had a spike. - coming from a source. Bad bacteria - Use buffers don’t chase ph with chemicals add more oxidation with wave makers is a must for big fish - Bubbles. - add a little aquarium salt Helps also. - u can buy vit drops. For fish. vitality is Vit c great for colors @. heath of Oscar’s. -/ hope I could help Nice looking fish

Your welcome @ dead plants could been the issue. -- / I hv serval big Oscar’s my self - these things I mention is to help /mostly to get tank bio load started and a Vit c - this builds a immune system. That Oscar’s needs - called vitality @ with different products as mention above - live barrier, food, bare minimum like crickets and worms this can lead to too much protein, which causes hole in the head. -u feed them sometimes as a treat but a good diet is pellets - with vitamins keep ph neutral Oscar’s are a 75 -80 temp PH -7.0. -6.8 it’s a big key WITH Oxidation -I like wave makers. - over time the good bacteria -/ that produced a cycle of nitrates eats nitrites then that will eat ammonia. - // - at the mean time you hv fish. There a answer to that also To protected any fish - while your fighting ammonia /nitrites always remember Add prime every 24 hours. / to 48 hours. This detoxifies the ammonia nitrites. People uses this to when they hv fish - in the tank and the good news you can use this because while using prime - it doesn’t disturb the cycling process while fighting a problem . So fish can be safe. That’s great. Have you noticed any bullying? The reason my Oscar is the only one in the tank is because he bullied the other fish. Some of them died and others, we moved to another tank

@@shanecuffee7766 so just so you know, I am definitely not an Oscar expert. I just have had my one individual who had that one problem with high ammonia levels in the water. I have watched tons of videos on them and from what seems to be a common theme is that Oscars are very emotional and will do this whole laying on the bottom thing when they don’t feel right for whatever reason. It can mean a bunch of different things, but one of the most common ones is bullying. I would say keep an ion him and see if he continues to eat. If he stops eating, or if his fins start to look shredded, or if he starts to look beaten up. Then I would definitely move him out of the tank. But if he is just going through a season and is still eating OK and not losing too much weight, then maybe it will grow out of it. I just don’t want to come off like in authority on Oscar fish. Hope this helps. That’s what I would do if I were you.
