Wow! I’m impressed. Someone that actually knows a little about this disease. I’ve been studying it for 13 years, bc that’s how long I’ve had it.

Thanks for commenting. Do you mind me asking how old you are and what caused it initially ? I’m also really interested to know what treatments you’ve found to be helpful or what pain management strategies you use.

@@PhysioMSK I’m 47 years old, and it started by breaking my great left toe. I don’t take any medication‘s for it, and when I did the mini years ago I was only on them for a short time because they don’t work. I went to a holistic treatment center in Fayetteville , Arkansas. It’s called the Spero Clinic. They saved my life.

I'm 66 years old and have had this horrific disease since I was 20. I had a triple arthrodesis in my right foot, and the trauma of the surgery caused the RSD. I've undergone every protocol you could imagine. Pain pills, spinal cord stimulator, pain pump, lumbar sympathectomy, et al. The ONLY thing that has helped is that I changed my diet. I kicked highly processed foods to the curb, plus sugar, grains and seed oils. Keeping inflammation down is key for me. Has my pain gone away? No. Yet its manageable. However, just 4 days ago I started feeling the all too familiar pain in my right arm and hands. Yep, it has spread. I also walk 4 miles per day, at least 5 days a week.
@Gpacharlie
@Gpacharlie Ай бұрын
Try backing off to 3 miles every other day for one week. It might calm things down and remove that arm to hand pain. Then work back up to your 4 milers.

@@easypeasy1216 so sorry you were going through this. I too have tried all these things except the diet. That’s the one thing that I have got to try, but it is so hard. Changing the food habits is so hard. But, I know I need to do it. also, I went to the Spero Clinic and they put me in remission for almost 4 years. But, I’m going back because my CRPS is slowly coming back. Sorry, voice text 🧡

wow that's a very long time! I have had it for 4 yrs now Im only 32 and it's getting worse! I tore my tendon on my thumb and developed CRPS! It has spread to my leg! No medication has worked! Before my injury I had always been very active, since Im a dancer and previous personal trainer. So I always pretty much ate healthy and stayed active. At this point Im not sure what else to do, Im always in pain and makes life suck! It really interferes with everything I used to be able to do with ease, its def making life depressing! Anyways hope your pain stays low!

I have this for eight years! Depression is worsening as time goes on. I have tried everything imaginable, aside from mirror therapy, including spinal cord stimulation. Was just removed after three years. Turned it off completely by six months. Learned that the leads weren’t even in the correct place. They wanted to revise it. Absolutely not, i gave it one chance. I never want to be cut open again. Would rather die. My injury was due to a total knee replacement. I am currently on meds and nothing works!! Living with crps is a nightmare!!

You have my sympathies. It can be very difficult condition to live with. It might be worth asking to be reviewed again by your local pain clinic, just to ensure you are on the optimum treatment package for your symptoms. Best wishes. Stephen.

I read that many people are getting amazing relief with Calmare/Scrambler Therapy which uses non-invasive microcurrent stimulation which retrains the brain to stop repeating the old pain pathway.

Why no regional nerve blocks, such as stellate ganglion block for upper extremities? I had 3 and it resolved my problem in one month.

Hello, I have a question about CRPS, I was diagnosed with it and have been dealing with it for about a year and a half. The CRPS started in my right ankle. Is it possible for this condition to spread to the arms? I have pain in both arms which developed from little muscular exertion.
@PhysioMSK
@PhysioMSK 3 ай бұрын
It’s unlikely. CRPS is usually diagnosed after everthing else has been excluded. So if you have new arm symptoms then it’s far more likely that something else is the cause.
@mikej3888

My CRPS began in my wrist and spread to my left foot. It was incredibly painful, but after about one year, I'm now almost symptom free. I began by reading "The Way Out," by Alan Gordon, other related books, and receiving "pain reprocessing therapy" with a therapist. I also walked daily, which was very difficult at first, but it helped so much. This approach is still relatively unknown, but it changed my situation dramatically, which I never expected while in severe pain.

@@PhysioMSKOne of the hallmarks of CRPS is that is does spread! I have CRPS that started in one arm and is now nearly full body. Here’s a link to an article from the Mayo Clinic that confirms this. www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/crps-complex-regional-pain-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20371151

what about post-stroke?
@PhysioMSK
@PhysioMSK 7 ай бұрын
There is a lot we don’t know about post stroke limb pain. In particular whether it’s caused by the brain injury itself or if it’s the resulting immobilisation of the limb that causes it. And also whether it’s a different subset of CRPS to the typical post trauma type.

Latest research means the most recent right, but most recent can still be 30 years old? So recent does not always same as new. My English is not so great. Thanks for your help. Sound like you are trying to say that latest in the first part, then saying new in the second part of your sentence. Those 2 are not equal tho. Maybe I'm wrong too? Please help me understand.
