finally, after putting in 5 lawns in 5 years, this has to be my solution. My lawn completely frys by early to mid july, its all burn to a crisp and gone! Other "Professionals" tell me to change my fescue seed type, and now go to burmuda.... I dont want burmuda. Its a water retention issue Im sure after hearing Greg. Im going to put another complete lawn in this coming month, September 2024, and start my wetting agent program next june before it hits high 80s. I plan on trying Gregs top recommendations, I pray I keep my lawn from then on. Thanks Millions Greg, I look forward to your other videos. Bruce Moreau

Thanks for the kind words. You will likely need to water if it gets dry next summer. Wetting agent will help but if it gets bone dry all bets are off.

I've had success with Hydrotain as a DIY'er. You can reapply monthly at a lower rate. It has made a big difference in keeping my TTTF alive in Raleigh NC.

Very helpful video. You mentioned greens, can you do a video how to make a putting green? I have a cool season lawn.
@GregPhillips.225 ай бұрын
Thanks!! I have had a lot of folks ask me that over the years. Even gave some folks bentgrass seed to try on their own. It's very very difficult. One, you will need a reel mower capable of cutting to at least 3/16th of an inch. That will set you back $5000+ just for the mower. Then you will have to mow it 3x a week at least. Also, fungicide costs, very good sprayer that is calibrated those cost... I have found if someone is really serious the synthetic greens you get are your best bet. They are basically sports turf greens that are top dressed with sand. That would in the long run be cheaper than trying to put a bentgrass green in on your own.

Anyway to up the quality of your videos, such as 720P or a 1080P video? I love the content.
@GregPhillips.225 ай бұрын
You tube takes sometimes days to upload in that format. Is it the audio or is it video quality that is the issue?
@Blubaugh55 ай бұрын
@@GregPhillips.22 Video is the biggest. Unfortunately, it would be best if you had a powerful computer to process videos. I can do 1080P with my 2015 iMac, but nothing above that. The sound is a little quiet and I have to turn the sound up quite a bit. If you can get the video quality up a bit, it will get more people to return to your channel.

Thank you sir so much for all the information, is really help a lot . How do you apply the pellets and after you apply you have to watering ?
@GregPhillips.226 ай бұрын
You will need an applicator. Here is an Amazon link to the applicator. Take the pellet out of the cup. Unscrew the applicator chamber put it in. Screw the chamber back on the applicator and hook up to hose. Water like normal. There are instructions on the pellets of how long you should water 1000ft to be sure you are applying the right amount. Here is a link to the applicator pd ad amzn.to/3Val5t4

as always a great video. when is the best time to put this on the lawn? Some products you suggested say water in, but like the PENTERRA doesnt. I am guessing still water in but how much? Just for reference I live in San Antonio and we are already in the low to mid 90s.
@GregPhillips.226 ай бұрын
I would always follow the label. That being said, if it were me, I would at least get it off the leaf blade, particularly at that temperature.

Hi Greg, love the video. I've heard some talk about baby shampoo as a surfactant. I assume this is similar to using Dawn?
@GregPhillips.224 ай бұрын
Yes, both act as penetrants. Dawn or baby shampoo does not stay in the soil for very long. Wetting agents are designed to stay in the soil for a prolonged period of time and if label is followed will not harm the lawn. You may be saving a buck or two but not getting the full benefits of what a quality wetting agent can do.

Excuse my ignorance, so when I apply this, I’d want to use coarse drops to get it into the soil. Correct?
@GregPhillips.226 ай бұрын
Not really. If you are putting it out with a back pack sprayer then watering it in it would not matter your droplet size. Would say coarse droplet size when spraying will reduce drift. Drift is not a big deal with these products. It is nearly impossible to damage adjacent plants.

Hi sir , what fertilizer do you recommend to apply in cool season grass for summer?
@GregPhillips.225 ай бұрын
Actually have a video on that. Can check it out. Generally you want to go into summer with sufficient potassium in your soil. I just put out 1 lb of Nitrogen and 1/2 lb of potassium on my cool season grasses that I am taking care of..here is my video. SUMMER LAWN . Weed, Disease, Grub/Insect, Fertility, Mowing, Water EVERYTHING U Need 4 A Lawn! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKirknR6hryjipo.

Do wetting agents help with compaction issues?
@GregPhillips.225 ай бұрын
Not really. Wound all most of the publications I have seen from universities say liquid compaction relief products have not been shown to work. There may be a benefit using wetting agents will help percolation into a dry hard soil. Perhaps splitting hairs but that is not considered relieving soil compaction
There are number of posts online of folks using dish soap. Particularly dawn. Any other dish soap may have salts in it that maybe somewhat harmful to your soil. Also using dish soap would likely not last very long at all. Wetting agents are designed to stay in the soil and that layer over a much longer period of time.

Can I use dawn?
@JonesBoula6 ай бұрын
Use baby shampoo instead
@GregPhillips.226 ай бұрын
Dawn will not last very long. Likely first rain or significant irrigation you apply most will be washed off. There are a number of formulas online to use Dawn for a penetrant but I would stick to using the wetting agents.
