I always propagate my houseplant collection in the winter. So my garden is never really gone. But this year I got more herbs to survive than before and some of my houseplants bloomed. My citrus, coffee and avocado trees also put on new branches. The highlight reel includes getting my walking iris to bloom, getting an oxalis plant and finding out just how easy it was to grow and blossom in winter. I got a hyacinth to grow in a pot and bloom and its going right now making my computer desk smell nice. My golden oyster mushroom spawn block put out one, count it one, flush of mushrooms and fizzled due to dryness. I got a kalanchoe and the screw pine I saved from the garbage and gave to my mother died back but put up a lot of suckers where it died so I should be able to divide that soon. I have two unknown houseplants I have to try and identify that I saved as well. The ornamental sweet potatoes dropped by town landscaping crews this past fall are coming out of dormancy and starting to perk up. I obtained a tiny hen and chicks and a discounted air plant. For herbs I managed to get catnip leaves to grow enormous. I have to hang them or bandit will get so excited he'll kill the plants. I have a hanging basket of garlic I'm raising for the greens. My thyme is just barely alive and my peppermint is down to a single cutting in a cut up old seltzer bottle. :( but my parsley hanging basket has given me foot long, very strong stems and leaves almost as strong as young celery stalks.

Hello My name is Dawn and I am originally from Florida but I now live in Georgia. I am so excited because I just started my seeds inside peat pellets. I am doing a flower garden outside in my bed and veggies in containers. I have 4 different kinds of flowers and 6 different veggies. I love Spring and I cannot wait for my seedlings to grow and then transplant them out in my bed. My husband and I just got our bed tilled right before we were hit with heavy heavy rain for the last two days. Thank goodness for the peat pellets what a life saver my seeds would have been drown.

Hello! I love your videos and work! Shout out to Mr Cameraman! I dont know about times and temps. I do know that I want to feed my family and provide fresh vegetables and fruits for people of need! Due to undiagnosed mental health issues I lost every job I ever had, I used to live in my car, I've been in every shelter around 3 counties, i even lost my kids. I remember not having anything to eat and feeling helpless. Dont cry for me, I have a happy journey ahead. Now that I have my son and 2 grandchildren I'm teaching them healthy eating. I'm learning how to make sure there will always be food! I want to help other in providing and teaching how to grow. Tonight I'm bindging on your videos learning everything. I've grabbed every shoe box, plastic container, coffee cup to grow my seeds. Money is slim but every penny goes into guaranteeing a future for my family! Watch out aquaponics will be next! The more I feed the better!

We purchased a small greenhouse with a heating cooling system & got a ton of seeds planted in a variety of ways that you'd suggested. Your videos have been super helpful! This is my first time planting a garden and without your videos I’d be lost. I started with your $10 garden series. I built my grow box also. I had to remove the lid and just clip the light to the side because it seemed like the light was getting too hot and I didn’t want to cause an issue. It seems to still be working well. I have sprouts. Unfortunately my puppy got in there and attacked about half of my seedlings and now I have to start over. Thank you so much for taking the time to film these videos. Hi! Love your videos, I’m in California too. I’ve been horrible with plants in the past, but after watching the videos, I know I was just ignorant and unknowledgeable about how to care for my plants. I feel much more confident after watching you and Gary P. So far I have some seeds in two grow light boxes, peppers, 3 tomato varieties, a black tail water melon, tigger melon, and some onions. Also going to plant some kale and lettuce soon. I’m very excited for the spring and summer this year! Thank you for all your videos they are extremely helpful!

One question I have is on the Vermisterra tea. Once you add it to water does it have to be used right away, or can it be stored in a closed gallon jug for a while? I bought a fish fertilizer 2-2-2 and I read to discard any unused portions (after adding to water).

Hi CaliKim. I would love to see a video devoted to the flower-side of things. How is planting flowers different than veggies/herbs? I know the flowers that attract pollinators are important to you and any garden. I also know that you have your favorites in your Bring on the Pollinators seed kit. Do you have or could you do a dedicated video or series on the flower side of gardening?

Thanks for the video Kim. This is very timely as I am just starting my seeds this week. We had a very mild winter here in Vancouver until a couple of weeks ago when the cold weather hit. My tulips had starting coming up in mid-January but now they are covered in about 3 inches of snow! Darn it! I didn't know Jiffy made those jumbo peat pellets - I am definitely going to get some of those as I feel the usual small ones are just too small and plants outgrow them quickly and transferring them to soil based cups when they are so small seems to set them back a bit. You remind me of my sister so much. She lived in Rocklin California when she passed away eight years ago so not too far from you! I always have great memories of her when I watch your videos so thank you for that too. Edit - I got my seeds from you a couple of weeks ago. I like the packaging! Cheers from Canada!

This is my first time gardening, and I'm nervous about failure, but still excited. Hi Kim. Thanks for all the great seed starting tips! This is my first year seed starting and I love it already! My celery is growing nicely. It's so exciting. Cant wait to see how they grow. I added cinnamon to them because I saw some mold growing on a few of them. I'm using the pead pods to grow in. So my question is, should I use bigger pead pods for certain vegetables like tomatoes and peppers? Does size matter when it comes to seed starting? And should I transplant my celery pead pods into the next size up containers? I have both big and small pods.

Thankyou from Surrey BC in Canada ...for the video Kim, really well done, both of you!! So, we started pac choi, spinach, mesculins, leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, peas and beans on Jan 25th inside. So far, we've planted all of those out (accept the Beans) into the poly tunnel within the past week. Alot of fun, thats for sure. I shouldnt have sowed the bush beans though..theyre getting pretty big..all 15 of them) So, have to figure out what to do with them. We transplanted 10 into 4 inch peat pots..the others are about ready to transplnt too. .I guess I can plant the whole peat pot into the greenhouse/polytunnel when temp warms up?? Soil is supposed to be 60 degrees..its a number of weeks away... so by the time we get them out there..hahaha, theyre gonna be big!! We are doing square foot gardening in the greenhouse this year too. The one bed is 20x3'. We have so much more to start..more herbs etc. We do container gardening for the most past so there are many many containers to grow in. I love it all! Also, Have you made your own worm tea? We worm farm too. Was just wondering if i should brew some up to fertilize the seedlings..just dont want to cause any soil issues with that inside. All in all, GREAT show, thankyou so much.
