I haven’t spoken to my “mother” in many years. I haven’t thought about specific childhood memories and many scars have faded with time, but this video has captured my EXACT bedtime stories that I heard growing up. Even the phrases used were the exact same, it’s like we almost had the same mother. “You deserved to die,” “You ruined my life,” “You’re ruining my life now,” “I never have a good night because of you.” I’ve forgotten about most of those phrases. The only difference is that my mother never had a promising future, she didn’t even achieve her middle school graduation. I hope that everyone watching who has gone through this will someday realize that NO CHILD deserves to feel guilty for EXISTING. No child is responsible for their parent’s decisions, mistakes, failures etc. You’re not responsible for your parent’s life, no matter how much brainwashing they tried on you. Thank you for bringing awareness to narcissistic parenting. Narcissists will always need a scapegoat to blame for all of their problems and failures. It’s usually their own child because children are vulnerable and the easiest target. I hope that every traumatized child out there will someday realize that they were never the real problem to begin with…

It's also not true in some countries - in NSW Australia (& probably other places i bet) you can actually choose new parents for your child when you are still pregnant. They are screened & you can choose to still have a relationship with them as they grow up. So you don't need to give up your dreams, you don't need to kill your child early in their development, and you don't need to raise the child yourself. Even if the right to "abort" your child at some arbitrary point in their existance is still a democratic political necessity at this time in history.

I know its satire, and I love it…but wow…what makes satire funny is the innate connection it has with the truth…and what I see here is such a scathing lack of empathy and a gleeful indulgence in cruelty. I know we’re watching a stereotype that’s not reflective of all Asian mothers, but if this is tapping into even a 50% representation, then wow…my heart goes out to all Asian kids. (And I’m saying this having watched all of Joshs’ videos, so this is a general take on his work and not specific to this video)
@RockBisonQ2 жыл бұрын
No, it is so far from the truth of the majority. Asian Moms are the best you get some bad one like any other races out there but Asian Moms sacrifice for their kids and they don't even speak up, they rather starve themselves but feed the children and want to keep the family intact. Lots of them give up their dreams because of children and that is also why male supremacy still exist much in SE Asia because the fathers brings in more money and escalating to some domestic abuses and the women would not want to leave their children even when they are adults as well as she has no where to go or co-dependent. I love my mom she is so great.
@thedudeabides31382 жыл бұрын
@Ian yorkland emmmm….yes it is satire (and getting people to hate you while doing comedy is NOT the objective of satire). Satire is defined as : the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

This is a pretty ignorant comment, no offense. Do you know that "Asian" encompasses at least 6 major groups, and each of those groups includes many times more ethnicities? So there are literally hundreds of "Asian" cultures. That's the first ignorant part. The second is the assumption that this could be 50% representation. Can you even imagine how preposterous that sounds? That you believe a single trait or behavior could make up half a population? Like do you not understand how statistically unreasonable that sounds? Please don't misunderstand my shock at your comment as an insult to you as a person, just to an ignorant belief that is likely not bad intention, but nonetheless is still ignorant.

this is the way our moms was raised and you dont have to feel sorry for us since we are thankful we were raise this way. They give you discipline but they give you love as well. You have your home made meals daily, will really take care of you when your sick no matter how old you are, will take care of your children, will guide you through birth pains and so much more. my Arab mom thinks this whole Goodnight thingy is just a dramatic useless thing western ppl do 💀
@bmona75502 жыл бұрын
When they get old they'd wish they were more affectionate. Some parents like that who lost their child early certainly wish so
@lowkeyemilia2 жыл бұрын
@@bmona7550 this is why I'm not gonna do this if I ever have kids, it costs you nothing to be kind and affectionate to your kid.

The Asian kid is so jaded at this point that no soul-crushing from Asian mom affects him anymore.

So true. 30+ years never had I once seen my parents kiss... I remember my bedtime as a kid. Everyday 10pm, my mom would tell me and my siblings, time to go to bed, u got school and then turns the lights off. She didn't care if we was sleepy or not. Reading bedtime stories did not exist. I didn't even know people did that until I heard it from my classmates.
