No. Accountability was a thing before "cancelling." Cancelling, by the time that term was actually used for it, was *always* going too far. I'm old enough and I was active online enough at the time to know. While a few people used the term to apply to justifiable attempts at accountability, it was never a thing until it was being abused in the "overly sensitive" way (innocent or at least not that bad things seen as horrible) or the "fascistic" way (as previous but more malicious, often for political reasons) or the "too far" way (accountability was actually needed but the mob pushed for far more than was ethical to push for), usually all three. (... But I'm guessing from your comment that you _like_ and would defend the fascistic way. "Illegal deportations" my eye.)

The bits about Korean hating on others success is actually true, even though it's probably normal no matter what race you are. But here even by being happy people would start assuming so much, even going as far as calling you "inconsiderate to those who are unhappy". So my advice, if you want to be happy, either you do it in private or deaf yourself and ignore them.
@ntrg32482 жыл бұрын
I agree with you about that, hating on success is plain envy. Being envious is an unhealthy lifestyle, and it really says more about the people envying than who they are envious of. It's just unnecessary hate and jealousy. My mum always says stuff like "poor people are better people inside than rich people" or "unattractive people are better people inside than attractive people" but i don't think it's as black and white simple as that, like all things, it's a Gray area. The money you have isn't going to change your ego, self respect, self entitlement, inner bitterness, or envy. Also, with the people hating you for being happy, I think it's because people think they need to make x amount of money p/year and drive x car and wear X clothes blah blah blah. And until you have those things, it's "impossible to be happy". Or maybe they see someone who has "less" than them, and they think "I'm doing better in life, and they're happy and I'm not! How dare they!" So yeah, you're right about silencing out the haters if you want to be happy, I've only recently stopped caring what people think and my self esteem has gone up by quite a lot.
@saenekokun27232 жыл бұрын
@@ntrg3248 hey, congrats on that! I hope you will continue to be happy and share happiness with everyone :^D happiness is subjective, so it's not easy to determine what actually is "should" and "shouldn't", like to me people always say that money won't bring you happiness. WRONG! money *WILL* bring me happiness. I can take my mom and dad to get the treatment they need, fix the house, get them to perform hajji, get my siblings better education, get myself a better phone, whale on my favourite characters, those are happiness for *ME* . and I always belittle people who said money can't bring happiness because they usually are people who either, 1) have too much money and don't know what to do with it, 2) envious people who doesn't want others to be successful, 3) people who read too much sappy novel or dramas. my advice to those people, if money can't make you happy, it will make ME happy. give them to me.

@@literalgarbage8014 I also think it HIGHLY depends on your area when it comes to certain things. Then it's unfair to censor the truth to make it look another way to certain people. It's not just on his channel. He may have something on or not but this is ALL CHANNELS. EVEN VIDEOS like Thomas Sowell or larry elder exposing the truth but you can't at all in the comments say, "YEAH I SEEN PAMELA A-BROWN ATTAC*ED BY 4 BLACK WOMEN AT KROGERS AND WE'RE STILL TRYING TO GET HER JUSTICE." (True story AND WE KNOW the people on youtube and the video it's under IS STILL HAVING IT ALL SILENCED AND WE KNOW 100% THEIR SETTINGS ISN'T CHANGED TO CENSOR THAT. So his might be or not. It's just when it comes to WHITES and their sufferings. It's HIGHLY censored. That makes me REALLY want to help them more. It's certain words, things, etc. I gave plenty of examples, pages, events, times, etc. BEFORE it again wouldn't sent. Then I wrote KZbin on their public page and told them THIS NEEDS TO STOP. Whites have sufferings and voices also. ETC. (Just giving you some examples of what I mean.) So you can see it all and go see for yourself. When I hit send it's the SAME message that ONLY happens if you add certain words EXAMPLE: THOMAS SOWELL OR LARRY ELDER is censored. Or a CERTAIN event or word. (YET you can bully, threaten, cuss, smoke w**d, and more on youtube and talk about it in the comments using Ni**A the whole time. NOT SILENCED.) It's sad really. THEN sometimes I will go back & put EXAMPLE: TH*MAS S**ELL as an example then BAM ALL IT OF IT GOES THROUGH. The censoring NEEDS to stop. It's really not helping USA or the world and it's 100% making it seem only 2 races but mainly ours come off like it's ONLY a 13.5% victim thing. So again it also depends on the areas. Like my are for example whites ARE the minority big time. Whites are bru*ally attac*ed non stop. Big time. In school, out, at Krogers, etc. NOTHING IS SAFE FOR THEM in my city and especially our area. YET if you TRY and tell someone, no one cares. NOT the media, police, city officials, pages, and everyone is censoring that. It makes me extra sad for them. If you try to type it up to get channels to react. It's silenced. My area makes EXTREMELY sure to hurt big time whites and even give EVERYTHING to their own and deny disabled whites crying to their face begging for help, while losing it all.... THEN NOT EVER give them justice, silence the truth, MASSIVE cover ups, etc. OR like when I hear ESPECIALLY white liberals saying, "DEFUND THE POLICE 4 BLACK LIVES TO LIVE." We're like, "YOU DON'T LIVE HERE. WE DO! THE LAST THING WE NEED, WANT, ETC IS LESS COPS. WE'RE ALREADY A HUGE TAR*ET FROM OUR OWN PEOPLE. Do white liberals who do not live in our areas REALLY think we're safer WITHOUT help from cops, NO... MY ADVICE COME TO OUR HOOD OR GHETTO AS SOME CALL IT. THEN they can see first hand why we NEED AND WANT the police here." I mean that's 100% even more going to get us ki**ed. So I ALWAYS TRY when I hear people write, say, or voice things a certain way. To remember it ALL STILL DEPENDS on the areas, people, also race (especially sadly whites), etc. So each area it different. It makes me sad whites don't get anything but open ha*e then black women doing that worldwide ha*e can 100% keep their jobs after calling them cockroaches, etc and no one cares or black men openly showing and doing SEVERE things in m*b groups but NO ONE CARES if they're white. It's really sad. I think that's why A LOT of us in a certain area in my hood is trying hard to get them justice and also expose what is going on. Except this censoring ON ALL KZbin VIDEOS, TIKTOK, FB, (WAS ESPECIALLY TWITTER), MEDIA, ETC Is by far making this harder. It breaks my heart for them. ETC. YET if someone attac*ed my race it's FRONT MEDIA WORLDWIDE, HUGE MIXED LIES IN IT, FALSELY BLAMING WHITES AGAIN, and they leave out the MAJOR parts of everything. Along with the REAL TRUTH. THEN like the church situation that whites were just blamed for bur*ing down 7 churches. That's ANOTHER example of what I mean. AGAIN only their race was blamed and AGAIN it's our race on the mugshot. NO ONE SAYS SORRY, CLEARS IT UP, RUNS THE TRUTH, WAITS, ETC. It REALLY breaks my heart. We're TRYING to get them a voice. So he could have a setting BUT this is on EVERY video. If I changed even ONE A to an * then the message goes through. YET everything disgusting is on youtube BUT the truth. I can't stand that. Hopefully more people follow ELON MUSK way. Hopefully more people follow my family, friends, some of the hood, etc ways and TRY to get them help. I do think people NEED to remember just because THEIR area is safer or a certain way. Doesn't mean others area. That's the same with canceling and other things. My area is QUICK to fire whites. Quick to deny assistance only to them. QUICK to do these things. We ALL know this. We see this daily. It just takes people with a voice, heart, morals, etc. To stand up for others.

The indigenous Europeans are white too, but we have many countries in the continent with different Ethnicities and with different cultures and social rules each. So, even thought it's comedy, it would be inaccurate to carry the label for the American mentality. I'm Korean American (adopted in a white family born in Korea). It's pretty true that any racist gesture or name towards Asians just goes by like nothing happened. I recall in school everyone would pull their eyes back and call themselves Asian or do their impression of Asians saying "Hey I can speak Chinese Ching Chang Chong" and no one would say anything. I also recall a kid who was black said his cousin asked for a brown marker and the kid told her "just rub your skin on it" and no one was accepting of that. Had a Chinese friend who was six at the time walked past 2 men at my grandparents restaurant in Ohio and one of the said "ruff" to him - didn't know it at the time but now realizing they're suggesting all Chinese or Asians eat dogs. Not true.

I agree, I absolutely hate how racist Koreans are. :( I’d say I am pretty patriotic myself for Korea(since I am Korean), but I cannot dismiss Korea’s racist behavior. It’s not just China or Japan, Korea is racist too, but also people with darker skin. I’m pretty sure Korean people do not like Chinese or Japanese people because of feuds in the past or with the countries’ governments. But that means Koreans should instead dislike the government instead of the innocent Chinese and Japanese people. Plus the Korean government isn’t perfect either and is very flawed, especially the justice system.

Yeah, being Asian (I'm Japanese) and hearing about "the growing racism problem in America" just makes me laugh. Asian Racism makes Western _"Racism"_ look like child's play. Plus, racism in the USA is an extreme social taboo in most places and exceedingly rare. It's dying, no matter how desperately the media tries to revive it. You go to Asia and NO ONE is color blind and they won't walk on egg shells over it. when i started watching kpop, i thought i will love korea , but instead i hated it , and it is all because of the bullying cases and the false accusations of these poor idols who even did not start their careers, what is happening in korea is disgusting and need to be stopped at any price ,,, no more ruining people lives because of a bullying case 15 years ago, this is insane and stupid !

okay so how i understand it- america: random private individuals will be canceled for things taken out of context, or will be cancelled for doing something admittedly bad- but it was done when they were young or when it was a societal norm. korea: korean idols are expected to be genuinely perfect and will be cancelled for there even being suspicion of humanity or flaw

however i still feel like someone truly was a bully in the past and they're a better person now, it can be forgived but that opportunity should be given to someone who may have not had such a past. bullying is a more serious issue than just showing support for a famous person before they get cancelled. but i do agree with the false accusations part, in both america and korea, people are always so quick to jump to conclusions and start taking whatever side everyone else is taking.

this reminded me of garam from le sserafim and at the time she was getting canceled, I was neutral because I wanted to see both sides but obviously the internet only shows the bad side of people. without seeing both sides, it was hard to choose a side to believe. but later on she got kicked out from the group and her contact had been terminated and now that everything is cleared up, she’s still not back in the group. :’)
@dissonantvibe8585 Жыл бұрын
You clearly miss the point. It doesn't matter whether she was guilty or not. She was a child when it was alleged to occur. Furthermore, It was one incident in middle school and had absolutely nothing to do with her ability to sing & dance. As it turns out, it wasn't even true so I hope the "netizens" who pressured the record company to take action and those that were on the fence feel some shame in their part in ruining a young woman's life
@charenny7797 Жыл бұрын
@@dissonantvibe8585 you clearly missed my point. I said I was neutral, did you not see that part? it does matter because if she was a real bully, then she doesn’t deserve the spotlight. bullies don’t deserve fame and wealth and the love from fans, and this applies to anyone, not just garam. obviously she is not guilty, so she shouldn’t have been kicked out but the past is the past, there’s nothing more that can be done to change it.
@dissonantvibe8585 Жыл бұрын
@@charenny7797 , I understood your point and I still maintain the point of the video went over your head like a plane 30k feet in the sky. You were neutral on whether you should or should not join in on the digital lynching of a 16 year old girl? You were neutral on whether it was right for others to do so? The philosophy this video criticizes is a philosophy of bullies. They pat themselves on the back that their cause is noble while engaging in some of the most despicable behavior. I believe in separation of the art & artist so I still maintain that it doesn't matter whether she did or did not as it is irrelevant to her talents. Many of the great artists & musicians & writers did some terrible things, but the world would be worse off without their works. I don't pretend that Kim Garam is on the level of a Classical master, but the point still stands. If that's not your line, fine. Don't support her & don't listen to Le Serrafim. However, you don't get to decide for the rest of us. That's what this digital lynch mob did. It decided for the rest of us by pressuring her cowardly agency. Moreover, social dynamics are complex and there is no way a journalist covering pop music is going to take the time to understand or report all the complexities that occurred so how are you going to decide "guilt"? You don't believe that bullies should be able to be part of polite society. That's a pretty harsh punishment for a childhood transgression. How long should the be exiled? 5 years? 20 years? For life? I have personal experience with bullying so I fully understand it's impact, but I don't believe this should be affecting their professional ambitions
@charenny7797 Жыл бұрын
@@dissonantvibe8585 don’t tell me you understood my point and that your point “flew over my head” when you didn’t. you are acting like being neutral is a bad thing. would you rather have one more person to attack someone for the not proven bullying allegations? and you act like I had any power to stop others from pressuring her company. if you wanna talk like that, you should take your own advice first before giving that shit advice to others. the artist may create good art but you can’t support it. it’s separated, but if you still continue to listen and support it, you are still giving power and fame to that person. do you not understand what? and just how am I deciding for the rest of you? was me saying that I stayed neutral deciding for you? I love how you’re always shoving words into my mouth that I’ve never said, well done. and her bullying allegations was not that long go. I believe people can and do change but at the time that it was said she was bullying people, it was not that long ago considering she’s only 16. they may not have believed she could change so fast. why do you feel the need to personally attack me as if I were one of the people that pressured the company to terminate her contract? do you find joy in attacking random strangers for saying that they were neutral? if so, you are no better than those people who ruined her life.
@dissonantvibe8585 Жыл бұрын
@@charenny7797 , some of my argument was directed at the general philosophy of cancel culture and not you as I don't know what actions you have or have not taken. I did this because I wanted to communicate that neutrality is not harmless. Let me try to explain it in another way with more extreme examples. If you heard that someone was tripping random old ladies, you would probably not be neutral. An even more extreme example closer to this issue, would you be neutral if you heard that they were summarily executing someone who said something mean in the school hallways? I'd like to believe you'd be rightfully appalled. I am heartened to hear that you believe there is a possible statue of limitations for individuals who have made mistakes. Unfortunately, Korean culture doesn't seem to agree as another example of a Korean celebrity who lost his career due to childhood bullying is Ji Soo. He apparently did bully, but the allegations had to have be at least 10 years ago. That's just crazy to me. Can you imagine if a CPA was fired because they were mean in school 10 years ago? Unfortunately, it's not just Koreans as American cancel culture, celebrities have been asked to answer for events 40 or 50 years ago. I've even seen examples of attempts to cancel male celebrities for the awful, unforgivable crime of being a bad boyfriend. There are many people who seek to justify cancel culture. I wonder many of those people shop at Amazon or Walmart. How many of them work for military industrial complex, the pharmaceutical industry, mainstream media, etc, etc? These companies and industries have done and are doing worse things than even the most evil human could. Still people happily shop or work at them, but will call for a person to lose their livelihood if the say or do something wrong no matter how minor or how long ago it was. I am sorry you felt like I was attacking you, but cancel culture has been extremely destructive to American culture and the arts over the last 10 years. It disgusts me. Thus, I would hope that even if I can't convince you, others will be convinced or at the very least will not believe that your neutrality opinion is shared by everyone
