feels good after a good mow, green grass and extra grass clippings for mulch. enjoy your maintenance for spring.

Spring has sprung ! Time to tidy up the garden. Your front yard is very neat and green. BTW, Bunnings have restocked the saucers if you still want to get them for those big 115lt plastic pots.

Amazing spring day there . Here in the northern hemisphere our days are becoming shorter yet still hot here in California.

Enjoy the last of what's left of summer. Spring here feels almost like winter, 45f nights, 65f days. I'm so looking forward to a long wave of deliciously hot weather!!

I’m thankful you trim them down to head height…I also don’t want to climb on ladders for the fruit!

It's so much more straightforward once you've got large, well established and vigorous white sapote trees George as you can simply prune them as much as you want to get your ideal shape and size, knowing you'll still be left with a decent amount of flowers 😁. Here growing a young plant in a container I'm desperate for it just to stay alive and ANY growth in any direction is welcome 😂😂

I'm really surprised your white sapote struggles, it's quite cold tolerant here.

@@RealLifeFruitopia it's just hard work growing them in containers, they can't go in ground here even if I had room as they'd be killed stone dead within a couple of months. It's incredible the difference only 2 or 3c cooler makes in the Winter months. I suspect the winter climate here is closer to Canberra than Melbourne so I suppose I'm dealing with what Nathan is dealing but with most years cooler summers ( obviously this year the high temperatures were exceptional ). However both my white sapote have done much better this summer 🤩

As usual another enjoyable & inspiring video. What about getting a shreader to produce mulch/ wood chips form your cuttings? They'd break down much faster too.

Great idea! I have a shredder but haven't used it in almost 20 years! I much prefer chop and drop :)
@ss-kz9ee2 жыл бұрын
yeh I like chop and drop. last long and fascinating to see fungi breaking it down to feed soil. also I couldn't be bothered setting up mulcher and fuel it up.

White Sapotes are great. I have the Vernon and Otega. Interestingly the kangaroos here eat my Advocado trees and love my apple trees but wont touch the White Sapotes.

@@RealLifeFruitopianot sure what the birds would do to my Sapotes if left unprotected. This year I only had a few fruits so I used some of those blue covid masks to cover the individual fruits it also helps because when they fall off it hangs in them undamaged like a little hammock.

Hi George, firstly tq for sharing your knowledge in growing sapodilla. I purchased one 2 yrs ago and I have transplanted it to a slighly bigger pot. Is it best to grow them in the pot until they are more mature before transferring to the ground? We’ve had some very cold winter this year and i have kept it in my greenhouse. I am in Wantirna South, Victoria.
