It's remarkable to see how well they crop, and provided i move them indoors in cold weather looks likely to be one of the few tropicals i will be able get ( smaller ) edible fruit from

I'm sure a grafted tree will crop well in a pot.

You’re the white sapote king!They’re such a great fruit and should be on supermarket shelves everywhere! Also not affected by fruit fly, such a bonus, no nets and bags needed. My kampong started flowering after it fruited. Then did another round of flowers. Only downside is fruit is quite small, I’ve grafted Mac’s golden on now though.
@RealLifeFruitopia7 ай бұрын
Thanks, Ben! Unfortunately, their short shelf life keeps them out of supermarkets, so best to grow your own. I like the Kampong, reminds me of the Hawaiian Supreme in flavour.

That Looks delicious Gorge! Can't wait to taste my white sapote,it's only one year old thought.I got two lemon gold and 6 other varieties except,the one I bought from deley are grafted on a younger rootstock and it's seem to grow slowly too, compared to the grafted on a more mature rootstock ,it's grow much faster.

Another great video George!!! I will appreciate if you have time to review White Sapote Wiki Woo (famous in NZ) and share your thoughts. I am keen to know which variety of White Sapote from your garden will match with Wiki Woo..

Beautiful. If you clip a little bit of stem does it have more shelf life or is it negligible? I got nearly all my trees and plants after your videos, and my inlaws just gave me your same pruners after I mentioned you use them too :)
@RealLifeFruitopia7 ай бұрын
I don't think the shelf life will improve by cutting from the stem like it does with other fruit. All my Fiskars tools have been used and abused for well over a decade and still do their job.

Hi George! The other day I paid $3 for one white sapote fruit at my local supermarket. With so many hanging in your trees you are a millionaire!! My Hawaiian Supreme and Macs Golden trees from Daley’s are coming soon and I’m very excited. Is your Hawaiian Supreme tree upright or spreading? Is there any tips for keeping it compact? BTW is the Indian white guava sweet? Have a good day.😊
@RealLifeFruitopia7 ай бұрын
Yes, upright central growth and laterals branching off where the flowers come. I would sell the fruit, but there are too many dramas with certain people.

I'm in zone 11. Growing it from seed. How long before it fruits? And is growing from seed advisable
@RealLifeFruitopia7 ай бұрын
Seed grown isn't advisable. Takes up to 10 years to fruit and can get over 20 feet tall.

from my personal experience, 15s are still acceptable for most tropicals, especially if you have extremely hot summers, i.e., late 30s - early 40s.,
@RealLifeFruitopia7 ай бұрын
Winter highs in Melbourne are fine for most tropicals, ranging from 13C-18C. The real issue are the lows, which are between 0C-13C from April to October.
