Like the vlog! I started riding scooters in mid 2020 with a Vespa 150. Like you, after a time I upgraded. In my case to a Honda PCX. The reasons included: 1) longer oil change interval (4000 miles for the PCX vs 3000 for the Vespa) 2) better gas mileage (100mph vs 83), 3) uses regular gas vs premium 4) longer tire life (6000 miles vs 3000) 4) bigger wheels 5) enough more HP to better handle the hills in the Pittsburgh area and do short runs on the highway (68 mph top speed). I kept the Vespa which I still like for the retro style, more gentle wind over the bike and riding around my small town. I considered a Yamaha XMAX 300, but there are no shops that would do V belt changes or other more serious maintenance in my area. Down the road, I may upgrade again so that I can take trips involving freeway driving. For me, you comments about the joy of riding resonate. I started to ride for purely recreational purposes, but quickly discovered that I could do errands, shopping runs, go to doctor/dentist appointments, etc... Now I only use the car when there are two or more of us on the trip or when weather dictates.

I love my scooter. I have the Sym Jet 14 200cc. I much prefer riding my scooter than taking my car out for everyday errands/ shopping and going to work. I plan on getting a Honda NC 750 soon but I'm keeping my scooter as my local bike..Will ride the Honda for longer rides when we head out as a family (I ride with my hubby, dad, brother and my sis in law so lots of fun to be had). Fantastic job for your first scooter vlog. I hear a lot of stories similar to yours. People don't really think much about scooters, until they hop on one. Then they love them. Kudos to you for going straight for the M course first. Most people buy a 50cc scooter first and then regret not getting something faster. Pearland has all the best shopping spots.

I was in love with scooters before I rode one, and then those feelings were cubed when I got my first bike. Yours is a perfect reason and story for getting a scooter. Plus you save a lot on gas, and in many cases parking as well. Congrats on passing the safety course. Did you use a scooter to take the test, or a motorcycle? Once you start riding it’s addicting, and has been so for me for 11 years. You’re nailing your first motovlog. With my first one my camera was upside down (the lens can rotate, and I set it wrong. Scooters make the mundane amazing. Ride safe.
@ScooterNewbie3 жыл бұрын
Ha! I tried recording a motovlog today, and let’s just say it was rocky. I started by breaking the box the camera sits in. Layer in unexpected rain & audio issues for the win. 😂 I did use a scooter for the test, but I don’t know why I was freaked out by having to shift gears. Getting comfortable on the scooter was a gateway. Now I want all the 2-wheels!

@@ScooterNewbie There was never a scooter option for the course I took, so it was only learn on a motorcycle. I've no regrets, but I much prefer a scooter if I have a choice. My first time commuting on my scooter it poured on my way home where my route took me over a bridge from Philadelphia to New Jersey. That was a rite of passage. Sound and other issues are par for the course for Motovloggers, but we all learn from those mistakes and get better as we go along. If you haven't done so already you should join Kymocforum.com and Motovlog.com as well. They're both great communities for riders and motovlogggers of all experiences.
