If coaches always made the most rational decision on every play, then the game wouldn’t be much fun. Even Bill Belichick is human enough that he made one really stupid mistake that I remember: he went for it on 4th & 13 in Super Bowl 42, when they were in field goal range and they were winning 7-3. But they went on to lose by 3. There went the perfect season. Because nobody’s perfect, not even Billy Boy.

I don't even want officials to use AI. Rewatching that insane Martavis Bryant catch @4:16, AI would 100% rule that an incomplete catch due to maintaining possession bc most catches like that are ruled incomplete. AI just rules on precedent, what worked before will most likely work now. And that's just not as exciting. And there would be little room to set new precedents. Plus I want to be able to fairly or unfairly blame the refs & coaches. That's part of the game.
