Out of my 22 years of life in Memphis, Memphis has hosted the Titans, Memphis Maniacs, Memphis Express, and several semi pro teams all but the titans (who were in the relocation process) have failed. Virginia Beach native here, Hampton Roads will never have an NFL team. We had massive squabbles in the city over building an arena at the oceanfront. We also have an extremely transient population due to heavy military influence. Not saying if an owner came forward with a deal the city couldn’t refuse that the city council wouldn’t jump on it, just that as of right now, it ain’t gonna work here. For this to work and prevent new expansion teams from becoming doormats for the established teams for a decade, there are a few preemptive changes they need to make. First, they need to increase their rosters from 53 (of which 46 are active) to at least 60. Players designated as practice squad members are must make the full-time roster within 2 years or are automatically cut. This should increase to 4 years to allow an expanded roster's players, most importantly quarterbacks, time to develop. When an expansion draft does take place, there will be an bigger pool of quality players to chose and hopefully allow expansion teams to become competitive sooner. I would rather carve out my own eyes with a spoon than watch an expansion team go 0-32 its first 2 years in an expanded league.

It depends. The NFL owners want to expand into other markets. You are correct there isn’t really a benefit to “expansion” to a place like San Antonio; since most fans that live in San Antonio that would be San Antonio team fans are already fans of different teams and going to give their money regardless. However; if you are expanding the NFL into markets where there normally aren’t going to be NFL fans and they become NFL fans? That’s a different story. I could easily see an NFL team in Montreal and/or Toronto, Mexico City, and clearly they are trying to make London and Europe a market.

Memphis literally house the Titans. It makes no sense for them to have a Memphis team and a Tennesee team. I think that the NFL should expand into cities like San Antonio, San Diego/Sacramento, Portland, St. Louis, and Salt Lake City. There should be also some state teams, like New Mexico, Alabama, and maybe combine the Mountain states (Montana, Idaho, etc) for one team to balance the map out.

As a counter point to the spreading out of talent I'd argue there would also be more opportunity, players, coaches, scouts, etc so to some extent there will be a growth in the number of talent to counter the higher number of teams. There's also just going to be more people becoming players or being involved in some way with the sport.

I’d really like to see another team come back to St Louis, the Rams moving to LA was bitter some and left many St Louisans angry. We already have a stadium ready, not to mention St Louis also has MLB baseball, NHL hockey, and the new MLS team that will be coming. St Louisans are very passionate about our teams and I’m certain a team could certainly attract interest here.

Owners got greedy wanted in the BIG LA market unfortunately didn’t think about the fans But think if an expansion happened it would most likely have to be a multi team to balance the divisions out Or creating more divisions or cutting divisions to 3 teams but more divisions

The idea of using public funds is a completely crazy thing to me. Especially considering that the owners and players make oodles of money. I grew up in Europe and most of the sports teams have to pay to remodel and upkeep their own stadiums unlike what just happened where the Milwaukee Bucks came up to the state of Wisconsin demanding that they get a new arena or they would move.

I think a lot comes down to Europe having promotion and relegation. There is no need to relocate a team. Just improve the team you have so it can get promoted.

@@JudiateKing Why do you think they have to vote on expansion and moves? Because more teams mean more money to share. That's why they have to see if a team will not only bring enough money to make the new team profitable but that it makes the NFL more profit. Oversaturating a market is dumb.

London has a ready made stadium now at Tottenham and London and the surrounding commuter belt alone has probably 15 million people. It can be done with a sensible East coast "placement" and bye weeks for any West coast games

Also it'd be great if Raleigh built the real life version of Dodge Raceway Stadium where it's a football field inside of a NASCAR track. (Bristol doesn't count because that was only one time)

My 8 new teams and temporary stadiums Milwaukee Tundra: American Family Field Birmingham Tigers: Protective Stadium (Possibly permanent if further expanded) Columbus Panhandles: Ohio Stadium St. Louis Archers: The Dome at America’s Center (Permanent until new one is needed) Norfolk Sailors: S.B. Ballard Stadium Memphis Kings: Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium Portland Coyotes: Providence Park San Diego Spears: Petco Park Columbus, Norfolk, and Memphis are probably the most unlikely on this list as they would be rivaled for fans by closer teams, or the city being unable to sustain a team.
