Great video. I think my main concern is Tesla becoming the only game in town again. With Elon turning so many liberals off, and so many conservatives not interested in EV's, legacy auto will feel zero pressure to be competitive in the ev space. There just won't be as much financial pressure on them to do so. I don't think they will be worried anymore about EV's taking over, especially if Tesla volume isn't increasing as much as in the past, due to prior supporters not wanting to be associated with them.

I was, recently, watching one of the other popular Fisker Ocean channels, will not mention names, he drove his daughter to college and drove himself back, an over 1000 mile trip. He gathered the cost and with Electrify America now being 54 or is it 56 cents/kWh I did the math and if he had a gas car that got 30mpg he would have saved nothing. In fact, if I remember correctly his Fisker charging cost was more expensive than gas and I did use the average price of gas/gallon at the time of his trip. Electrify America use to be 24 cents/kWh when I drove my BMW i3s from Pennsylvania to Arizona. Back then it was economical, plus the i3s REX has that gas engine which saved me a few times when electric charging was not convenient on my route. So, the cost of ownership is now questionable for longer distance trips. Locally, with home charging, it's still economical. However, tires and insurance absolutely add significant cost to EV ownership. I have 2 electric vehicles, 2020 BMW i3s REX and a 2023 Fisker Ocean One and I love them both but long distance trips are not as economical as they were back 4 years ago.

While it seems to get better every day, the infrastructure needs improvement in a big way, still. Visiting my brother in Ontario, the other week, our drive with one of our Fisker Oceans (yes, we have 2) from South Carolina to Ontario was pretty good with the exception of West Virginia. I understand your video with your former Ocean, now. There were literally 2 GM dealerships along the way if I-79, with fast chargers...the first dealership's charger was down with a letter-sized paper stuck to the charger stating it may or may not work (it didn't). And yet, WVa was granted infrastructure funding from the Feds, specifically to build this up for EV transportation. Can we say a little corruption? Where did that funding go?? So yes, as we are the government, we need to continuously push the Big Machine to make sure that the funds are allocated to these transportation projects. The stations with just J-1772 connections are of no help to the traveler.

This. EVs will continue to be an option, and companies that see how the other major markets (EU, China especially) are going will continue to invest. What are your thoughts on the fact that the person that makes the U.S. EV's is creating agreements with most other companies that make EV's to have them on his charger system? And then we all use his chargers? That's a lot of money for him from those other manufacturers and from us that I'm thinking he'd want there to be an incentive to keep buying all EV's-----and he's buddies with the Pres elect so he'd have influence on having the Pres elect and upcoming gov't to keep the incentives and not tariff the heck out of EV's because of his profit?
@Aslash30414 күн бұрын
Great question: The reason other EVs need to charge on Tesla chargers is because the companies that make other EVs did not step up and build chargers. They didn’t get involved early and work with Tesla to adopt their standard. They didn’t want EVs to succeed. And by the time Tesla reached scale, Tesla had a network, and nobody was on board. The only reason other EVs could charge at all from 2016 til recently was because VW cheated so badly on emissions testing, that they were forced to build their own network as a punishment. Finally, it is my opinion that Elon makes much more money from the sale of a car than from a charging session, and if any CEO of any company could use legislation to lock out the competition, they would. And if I’m wrong, I’ll be the first to admit it. A sincere thanks to you for the well thought out and delivered questions. Cheers!

Legislation enacted in New Jersey in January 2004 provides a sales tax exemption for zero emission vehicles (ZEVs), which are battery-powered or fuel-cell powered vehicles pursuant to the California Air Resources Board zero emission standards for the model year. On 6/28/24 the Governor, Phil Murphy (D) signed into law P.L. 2024, c.19 which repeals the sales and use tax exemption on sales of ZEVs. Beginning October 1, 2024, sales of ZEVs are subject to tax, and the exemption will be phased-out over nine months. The Biden Admin changed the tax credit to US made only. Why is it different when Dems take away or limit EV subsidies?

Hyundai and Kia are offering deal breaks equivalent to the $7500 to be competitive. If they didn't they would not be selling as well as they are. They are eating the costs now to keep a seat at the table in hopes to get more market share in the future. Kia is not building a EV-9 factory in the USA because the labor is better or cheaper. They are trying to get some of the tax break money as well. I own a EV6 and love it but I would not have gotten it if it didn't have a discount because I could not afford otherwise. Cars are typically the 2nd or 3rd most expensive item people will buy behind a house and sometimes education so consumer are rightfully fussy with the purchase. Why EVs can be cheap on the used market is complex, suggesting owners not to sell a used EV to prop up the used market isn't going to catch on. I'm certainly not going to buy a GM or Ford to prop them up. Tesla earned my $ by being the best overall value (to me). I drive an EV simply because it's the best overall value & experience hands down and it's not even close.
