Commentary is included with this video. It features a game against Groovenstein - a well-known and much-respected Wingspanner - as part of the Major League Wingspan tournament, administered within the Wingspan Tournaments Discord server. The format for this tournament is quite fun, with players being separated out into divisions and conferences within the "league," just like Major League Baseball in the United States. I was part of the "US - Central" division within the "Americas" conference. This game was within the division, and was my 5th game overall of the tournament (30 games were required in the first stage). Up to this point, I was 2-2.
I was able to start with a Franklin's Gull and White-Throated Dipper in my starting hand, which is always a good sign. The only challenge there is how I'll get enough food. The Fish Crow is an option, but is it the right play? I guess we'll see. As always, I welcome any constructive feedback you have on how I can improve my gameplay.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes if I had been on the base boards, that would have been the route to take. Plus with 2 egg EORs, I definitely would benefit from pushing out my grasslands. The problem is that with eggs being so scarce on the Oceania boards, and food being so much more plentiful, the crow just isn't a good bird. You're right, though, that if I were to draw good grassland engine birds quickly, the gamble would have been worth it.

Congrats on a great game. I would have been tempted to keep the franklin's gull and the fish crow, played the gull in the grassland, laid eggs, played the crow in the grassland, laid eggs, repeat. I'm not sure it would have turned out better than what you did; a lot would have depended on what cards you got with the gull. And committing to a grassland engine like that would have been a gamble with oceania boards, while doing what you actually did (going card access and food early, then pivoting to the grassland later) worked out really well. Anyway, thanks for the educational game.
