when we went to Calgary in March...temps were near zero at night. We used a couple of little portable heaters along with the Timberline and batteries never dropped below 60% in our ion. The driving the next day they charged back up. Surprised that you don't use some small portable heaters.
@LivinRVision Жыл бұрын
We’re surprised you needed additional heaters. Even last year when we traveled to Iowa in the 20s we only used the Timberline heater. Crank that baby up! Lol 😉 That’s the only time we have ever been in temps that cold but plenty of nights in the 30s and the Timberline has kept us nice and warm. The front does get cooler than the rest in cooler temps.
@jeffrogowsky3245 Жыл бұрын
@@LivinRVisionwe don’t use the timberline, just small heaters. Plenty of heat and the front stays warm as well. We have traveled into below zero temps in Montana and Canada and only use electric heaters saving diesel

@jeffrogowsky3245 that’s great, glad that works for you. 👍🏻The fuel consumption on the if you haven’t tried, just so you know, the Timberline diesel usage is very minimal when you’re not connected to shore power and using the diesel instead of electric. But every little bit helps. 😊🤓

I would like to see what you are using to insulate the front windows. There are covers for the outside of the windshield, that secure with the front doors (although I have a Ford E-350 Chassis), and when I also use my sunshade (doesn't actually block out the sun at this point), and my front curtain, I am able to keep the coach driving area much warmer when camping out. I also use this daily in the cold of winter, when I use a small 300 watt heater to keep it from getting cold while my motorhome is parked in my driveway (hate the idea of freezing my water tank). Thanks for the video.. appreciate it.
@LivinRVision2 жыл бұрын
The insulated shades you see us putting on and off throughout various videos is what we use. This was the first time we have even been in temps this cold since we have been full time over 4 years ago now. It is noticeably cooler in the front but not “cold”. Like we mentioned, starting the coach to run the heater from the engine just helps warm the coach quicker. We did pretty good for this trip, but we don’t plan to keep traveling in those temps.

Morning, knowing what the weather has been like for the last two weeks, hope you're putting together a video of it. Your sound & editing is refreshing, I live on the Northern West Coast of Washington, these cold fronts and the atmospheric river is just east of us but the other side of Seattle it's in the teens, we're that close to it. Seeing that this was loaded just a few hours ago I'm pretty much figuring you're doing ok. I don't live full time in an RV, I've got a shared homeport for the winter, March I'll be moving along. How big is the house battery? Is your fridge a 3 way, 2 way or 12 volt? How big are the holding tanks in your rig? I might use a small computer fan to circulate the air around in there to equalize the heat distribution, I don't think window insulation panels would do much for the cold upfront, I do know the help keep the heat out in the summer. Good forethought on the mac. pump, those can be a chore to replace or repair My only fun story about one of those, we were planning an off shore voyage to the equatorial waters of the Pacific, Pre voyage prep included trying to find anything that can go wrong, engaging the macerator pump with the discharge through hull shut wasn't on that list,,,,,,,,, and it was one of those accidental test's that you do when doing something else that you never want to repeat,,,,,,,, I don't think I have to explain that these pumps are positive displacement, can build pressure to exceed all holding capability of the hose clamps downstream of the pump,,,,,, You'd get to old listening to the rest of the story, you're still young. Good job and Happy Trails,,,

Just wondering how your "timberline" (spelling?) stacks up to the popular Truma heater. We have a 2023 Travato 59G and the heater is supposed to be 90% efficient.
@LivinRVision Жыл бұрын
We have never had the Truma but we did have the Alde heater in the Airstream. So far we have not had a single issue with the Timberline heater. Seems to work great in the last two models. Had both Grech units for 6 months or more, both had the Timberline. The Timberline is VERY quiet too, especially with where Grech placed it (under the bath sink/counter). With the Grech, you don’t have as much length in lines and less elbows to worry about leaks like we had it the Airstream which were everywhere around the entire perimeter of the 33’ Classic. These are the big differences we noticed between the two systems we have experienced.
