Rain hates us too. The freeways around Phoenix generally keep all the storms out 😭

Not far from you ( Cleveland county) and we had a severe drought followed by two weeks of daily rain. We are expecting several inches from the storm but the projections show none or little for you. Just a few miles makes a huge difference. Hope you get some reasonable amount. Thanks for the reminder to get winter crops started.

Yeah so far, no rain here at all. Last time my weather station picked up rain was july 23rd, and that was only 3 tenths of an inch.

I’m also experimenting this year with winter brassica crops and a few other things like beets and carrots…I started my brassica’s start of July indoors and my plants are actually already out for 2 weeks now and growing just great…as you say they seem to not mind the heat we are getting still here in PNW. Issue here is the white cabbage moth…but this is the first year I’m actually being proactive in controlling them…in the 2 weeks they were out I already found 20plus eggs and a few that were hatched also…just put the net over them.

I don't think I've had to deal with cabbage moths very much at all, but I've never had very many brassicas in one place. How many days before your first frost did you start your brassicas?

Our area in Ohio is the same this year with the rain. Storms come straight through and it’s like Moses holds out his staff and it splits and goes right around us.

Haha yeah, I understand the feeling. Last year wasn't as bad, but the year before that I started noticing this pattern. Then last year when it rained a lot I felt crazy bc I kept waiting for it to happen and it didn't.

so with your rashberry plants... do you cut them back and then wait for spring to see if they flower agaon?, I have just had my first rashberries, last summer, it is now winter here, and wasn't sure if I should cut/prune my rasyberry stalks or just leave them for another season see how they go, I have planted them 2 years ago, got nothing, but last summer I actually got a few flowers and got only a smal ammount of rashberries?. any help needed please.
