Thank you for watching everyone & let me know what you think. We have to call these things out & expose them because they are genuinely never going to stop otherwise. This Cleopatra thing is so blatantly colourism & also the way people are treating that Lilo & Stitch actress is pretty racist too. Gotta love the internet!

I as a Person of Colour, I already understand long enough why Hollywood & Activists wanted a Representation HOWEVER, EXCESSIVELY Race-swapping White Characters to Black is for the "Change" whilst Black to White is "Racist" is so HYPOCRITICAL it puts the Black community in a very Bad Light! Hollywood & the Woke is not doing it for "EQUAL RIGHTS" they want more than just being EQUALS by walking away from the path of "Martin Luther King" to "Malcom X" by making Crimes against Whites Legal

Interesting video. But I wouldn't say that race-swapping is racist. I think the biggest gripe for me in race-swapping a character is the historical inaccuracy that is stated as fact and the blatant virtue signaling, both of which have the sole purpose of stirring controversy to generate buzz about race relations in the USA. When people call Hollywood bullshit, all the criticism is deflected as racism, which in turn is going to push people further into 2 camps. Hollywood wants to keep adding division between groups of people. That is how they stay relevant.

If they wanted to tell a story about black rulers, then give us a story about rulers who are 100% CONFERMED to be black. Give us a story about Shaka Zulu. Give us a story about Sonni Ali. Give us a story about Ezana of Axum. Hell, if they're so desperate for a queen on Cleopatra's level, tell us the story of Yaa Asantewaa. Just a quick Google search can point them to these impressive figures and over a thousand others just waiting to have their lives brought to the big screen.

You primarily need to know history so lessons learned in blood aren't repeated. The largest loss of human life took place in the last century under tyrannical regimes marketed as Marxism, socialism and/or communism. In our world today these lessons carry on in countries like Cuba and Venezuela. Despite the hundreds of millions who died, and billions who suffered under these regimes, lessons left in history seem to be lost to many living today. Unfortunately, far too many who don't know and understand history are voting for these tyrannical measures and the politicians who support them. Those living in "free" Western nations have lost many of their previously held freedoms in recent decades, and are heading the same route as those who suffered so horribly in the 1900s. Please learn your history - at least that of the last century - before you vote.

The fact is Cleopatra was black, greek, egyptian, and mediterranean as these were the mummies/bones they found in her family linage so her ancestors. So she was Mixed Race. Not just Greek or Egyptian but a mixed race woman of many races. The Actress playing Cleopatra is Egyptian, White and Black she is also mixed race. The issue people have is the actress look more black and that where everyone need to look at them selves and declare they are really the racist. Because this is the actual look of more than likely of what Cleopatra and her family look like. Another Fact No person on earth knows who Cleopatra mother was or Grand mother was, or what race they were. So if you do not have that final DNA you can not claim she was Greek only. As with most art during that time it was stylized drawing and sculptures as they made even blacks sculptures/and drawing have greek hair styles. That something you learn in ART history Classics, art and archeological schools. Nothing is what you think it is it all how they wanted you to see it.

Anne Boleyn was NOT beheaded during riots. She was beheaded at the demand of her husband, King Henry, who was obsessed with having a male heir, which she wasn't able to provide. In order to get rid of her so he could marry his next wife, he made up accusations of adultery and incest. Anne's whole story as Queen Of England is quite fascinating to say the least. The problem with science fiction is, it is seen more as entertainment, even thou most of what science fiction has predicted has so far come true. So if there is a new generation of people trying to manipulate human history, then nobody should be alarmed as George Orwell, 1984 has predicted this along with other books.

Acknowledging the decisions of the past as unacceptable is perfectly fine, we all live and learn, but repeating them to get revenge in a 'they did it to us so we'll do it to them' way is just childish. Labelling some action pf the past as a "mistakel or "unacceptable" is from a modern individual perspective. I would rather understand the why amd how of how past cultures worked plenty of modern actions that we might think are "acceptable" and "correct" might look horrendous from another perspective. AS AN EGYPTIAN ARE DESCENDANTS FROM MAMLUKS NOT FROM THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS ...AS GREEK claiming to be linked to the ancient ones when the reality is another...YOU aRe NEAR MORE TURKISH ROOTS THAN ORIGINAL GREEKS .THAT THEY NEVER ETHNICALLY EXISTED..THEBANS TRACIANS MACEDONIAN ANATOLICS WERE QUIET MIXED...LET S TALK ABOUT CLEOPATRA.. The Greek writer Strabon of Amaseia (lived c. 64 BC - c. 24 AD) writes in his Geographika 17.1.11 that, of all Ptolemaios XII’s daughters, only the eldest (i.e., Cleopatra’s sister Berenike) was legitimate. This statement, however, has caused considerable controversy, since Strabon is the only ancient writer who ever even implies that Cleopatra was illegitimate. Furthermore, if Cleopatra’s illegitimacy were really a well-established fact, then it is absolutely baffling why the Romans did not use it in their propaganda against her, since it would have been a perfect way of delegitimizing her. If it were really well-established that Cleopatra was not the legitimate daughter of Ptolemaios XII and his legal wife, we would expect to see this claim reiterated and emphasized in virtually every extant Roman source. Instead, what we see is the exact opposite: total silence. There are two possible resolutions to this conundrum. One is that Strabon may have simply guessed that Ptolemaios XII’s daughters other than Berenike were illegitimate without any reliable evidence. The other possibility that, when Strabon says that Ptolemaios XII’s daughters other than Berenike were “illegitimate,” what he really means is that they were children of Ptolemaios XII by his minor wives, rather than children of his primary wife. “Historians have long described Cleopatra as ethnically Greek, but during the past decade, that assumption has increasingly been called into question. In 2009, a team of archaeologists found the remains of a woman they believed to be Princess Arsinoe, Cleopatra’s sister. The researchers believe Arsinoe’s remains, found in Ephesus, Turkey, indicate that her mother (also likely Cleopatra’s) was African.” “‘That Arsinoe had an African mother is a real sensation which leads to a new insight on Cleopatra’s family and the relationship of the sisters Cleopatra and Arsinoe,’ Hilke Thuer of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, who made the discovery, said at the time.”.

Reminds me of how The Woman King blatantly lied about everything that African tribe did. The tribe DID exist and they DID have a woman as their leader, but they weren't poor helpless Black people who were genocided by the French like the movie claimed. In fact it was the tribe THEMSELVES who did the genociding. They would invade other tribes, kill as many as they could, and capture the rest and either sell them into slavery or enslave them themselves. They were actually an extremely important part of the West African/Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade back in the day. And the only reason the war between them and the French started was because it was around the time that France was starting to outlaw slavery, and they demanded that the tribe stop enslaving and genociding other Africans at once, and the tribe refused so they launched an attack on the French and started the war in the first place. You heard me right. The only reason the events of "The Woman King" happened irl was because it was the European colonizers who wanted to stop slavery and it was the African tribe who didn't want to. I couldn't even make this shit up if I tried.

As a Greek I fully support Egyptians❤ wish we could do that too. It was insane to watch that trailer trying to convince us Cleopatra was black because someone’s grandma said it was so. There is always a way to describe how things were back when, you can talk about slavery, you can talk about issues faced by inequality between men and women - without changing the real thing or being racist. And you can also write new compelling black characters to become more inclusive. There is no reason at all to attack someone’s heritage and history like that. Furthermore, is troublesome to cancel works of the past such as Gone with the wind or other books that were deemed as racist. You erase your own struggles by trying to delete old stuff, or acting like those things never happened and acting like we can rewrite history. Today we can watch our words and actions better, back then things were like that and trying to erase this fact won’t help.

I'm curious, Cleopatra was Greek, you are supposedly Greek. Why are you empathizing with Egyptians. Egypt was established as a Greek colony. You should be angry that Cleopatra was not portrayed by a Greek woman. Cleopatra was not indigenous to the land so she wouldn't be a part of the current inhabitants heritage as you say. Black people know very well about racism. They live it and are reminded everyday when propaganda says they've contributed nothing to the civilized world only to learn that black people were the ones to create civilization. So do the right thing by Cleopatra and protest that she is not being portrayed by a Greek.😊

The kicker is that the actual story of the Rise and Fall of Dahomey would be quite the epic in its own right. If the script writers are completely incapable of researching the actual subject, point them to things like Gone with the Wind and tell them "It's like that. A brutal plantation slave society. Only they occasionally do human sacrifice, have to raid their neighbors for slaves, and have a group of warrior women.." A society or regime doesn't have to be GOOD in order to be somewhat sympathetic or at least compelling.

In Asian film industry woke politics does not exist. Why ? Because the chinesse companies that are manipulated by the CCP want to build a strong national unity in their home-country (strong male models for future soldiers for example) but in the western world they want to cause "ideological subversion" like altering historical facts, and "adding gas on fire by pitting to racist and anti-racist movements stronger against each other". Think about it, the more the western world is conflicted within the more it's too busy to mount a propper economy and functional society, not to mention a functional military. Chinesse money = chinesse-government influence in hollywood, videogames, books, media, advertisement etc. Nicolaie Iorga ( a Romanian intellectual and historian) said : " A people that does not know it's own history is like a child that doesn't know it's parrents". Try to research what companies invest in what movies, videogames and media, YOU WILL BE SURPRISED !

@@CWHaircare According to Andrew Francis Clark, Associate Professor of History at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and Lucie Colvin Phillips, Professor of African Studies in the University of Maryland, "although Diop's work has been influential, it has generally been discredited by historians" Robert O. Collins, a former history professor at University of California, Santa Barbara, and James M. Burns, a professor in history at Clemson University, have both characterized Diop's writings on Ancient Egypt as "revisionist" Diop's book Civilization or Barbarism was described as Afrocentric pseudohistory by professor of philosophy and author Robert Todd Carroll. According to Marnie Hughes-Warrington, Diop's works were criticised by leading French Africanists who opposed the radical movements of African organizations against imperialism, but they (and later critics) noted the value of his works for the generation of a propaganda program that would promote African unit. Likewise, Santiago Juan-Navarro, a professor of Spanish at Florida International University described Diop as having "undertaken the task of supporting this Afrocentric view of history from an equally radical and 'mythic' point of view" Historian Robin Derricourt, in summarizing Diop's legacy, states that his work "increased francophone black pride, though trapped within dated models of racial classification". Stephen Howe, professor of the history of colonialism in Bristol University, writes that Diop's work is built mostly upon disagreements with Victorian-era thinkers like J.J. Bachofen, Lewis Henry Morgan and Friedrich Engels, and criticizes him for "failing to take modern research into account." Kevin MacDonald, a doctor of archeology, was critical of what he saw as Diop's "cavalier attitude" in making "amateur, non-statistical comparison of languages" between West Africa and Egypt. MacDonald also felt that such attitude showed "a disrespect for the discipline" and for the "methodology of linguistics". He did however state that Diop had asked "appropriate and relevant questions" regarding possible relations between Egypt and the African continent beyond Nubia. Historian Clarence E. Walker criticizes Diop's claim that Ramses II was black, as being without qualification, a futile exercise and "probably the single most unsuccessful effort on the part of a scholar to determine the racial origins of an Egyptian notable". Mary Lefkowitz, scholar of Classics, accuses Diop of supplying his readers only with selected and, to some extent, distorted information. She criticizes his methodology, stating that his writing allows him to disregard historical evidence, especially if it comes from European sources. Historian and classicist Frank M. Snowden Jr. states that Diop misinterprets the classical usage of color words, distorts classical sources and omits Greek and Roman authors, whom he claimed, make a clear distinction between Egyptians and Ethiopians.

The majority of modern Egyptians identify themselves as Arabs, but in fact about 90% of them are descendants of arabized Egyptians. And a few millions of Egyptians (Copts) are still identify themselves as ethnic Egyptians. They call themselves Remenkemi (from "Kemet" which means "Egypt" in Egyptian) and use Egyptian language in church. So neither Copts or Arabs of Egypt are black in general. One funny thing is that they used to be big on something called "death of author", which basically said the author and their intentions were irrelevant to understanding or evaluating a "text" ("text" in this case meaning "pretty much absolutely anything"). That way they could "read" all kinds of Freudian, Marxist and other horseshit into various works that had nothing to do with anything. If the intent was to write about an alternate history, with a different queen, why is her name also Charlotte? There are quite a few alternate history fictional stories published, where certain events turn out differently and thus have different consequences. In the Netflix series not only did they cast a Black actress as Anne Boleyn, they made the Boleyn family Black to show their "outsider status", which is a joke. Thomas Boleyn was part of the court under Henry's father, was raised to the peerage by Henry, was an ambassador for England both before and after Anne's marriage.

I draw a clear line at rewriting actual history. Fictional characters are either fine to change up or they are in a grey area because of specific factors, but doing whatever you want with actual history is going too far for me. @@Ishbikes So rather than fix the mistake, we should just allow other people to continue making the same mistakes? There are already several series that depict Jesus’s ethnicity correctly. Just watch The Chosen if you want a more accurate depiction of what Jesus looked and lived like. If creators can make the effort of finding a Jesus actor who is accurate to the ethnicity and time period, there’s no reason why others can’t do the same. Don’t allow others to continuously destroy history.

It always bothered me how they were saying “why did they pick a white actress to play Cleopatra” like Greeks are not white 😂 as a Greek I am a white person, and from Hellenistic texts you can see that Greeks used to vary from blonde to redheads and brunettes. We are certainly not black. We are not even close to that. Why are they trying to sell that idea that Greeks are some short of dark skinned people, I have no idea. Greeks started becoming darker on the ages of the Ottoman Empire as they mixed with a little bit of Arab blood. But Arabs are not black either. They are trying to sell this idea that gods of Olympus or Achilles was black, when you can read their descriptions in hellinistic texts and they were described as blondes.

It is infuriating that Netflix has done this. Just as they made a Black Ann Boleyn, I assume they are doing it for the controversy and hopes it will attract viewers. What's more annoying this they have done it in the face of facts from Roman accounts and a picture painted of her. The Roman Senator, Kassios Dion, described Cleopatra’s appearance to have a striking beauty, a Greek no doubt with a charming voice. The Roman Poet Lucan has also described her as filled with a fatal beauty, skin like pure asses milk. Litican said her red hair was like the rays of sun sinking into the sea. The closest depiction could be seen in one of the houses in the Roman City of Herculaneum, which dates to the 1st Century AD. This painting of hers shows a pale skin tone. Since it is one of the oldest depictions of her, it is considered the most relevant one.

If you're talking about AC Origins, then they still fell for the trope of presenting Cleopatra as promiscuous in that one scene - in reality, that portrayal was Roman propaganda promoted by Octavian because Mark Anthony fell in love with Cleopatra and turned his back on the Roman empire. In reality, Cleopatra was only ever romantically involved with only 2 men - Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony.

As a black man and a movie fan I agree with this take. Many black filmmakers have come out over the years speaking about how they can't get funding for their more creative projects, they can only get backing for things that fall into black stereotypes. This is one of the reasons G. Lucas himself funded Redtails out of his own pocket. Race swapping characters is done as a way to slip black actors into projects and deflect from the fact that big money investors generally won't put money into black stories that don't involve hood life or some other criminal activity.

Just go to public libraries or bookstores in Africa. I'm sure black Americans can find a lot of good stories of people of African descent there.
