I've been subscribed to almost every channel I've seen Sage react to in the last few weeks since I started watching him. I don't know anyone IRL who's into DBZ enough to watch what-ifs, so it's always weirdly surprising when I realize other people watch Salad too Among his other scenarios I really enjoyed are "What if Goku was Evil?", "What if Cell Turned Good?", "What if Goku became Kami?" and many others

Goten is a lot more happy-go-lucky, albeit probably because of his upbringing. I can see him progressing with Piccolo's training faster than Gohan, who was a lot more gentle and kind of a crybaby. Also if Raditz is alive, I see him either giving Piccolo more info about Saiyan biology, namely the Great Ape and Zenkais, improving the boys' training and becoming a good guy, or getting his get back on Piccolo when he gets his Zenkai, probably taking the boys again, and waiting to get his get back in Goku, only to get folded by Mr. Over 9000 and his Kaioken.

Vegeta thought Goku would be too much of a problem with a tired Krillin, Gohan and Piccolo backing him despite having Nappa and asked Nappa to quickly the rest. You think he’s just standing there with Chiaotzu, Tien, Yamcha, Raditz, Piccolo, Gohan and Goten doodling while Goku’s on his way whose power level he knows is 8000+ Nah, he stepping in and killing as many as he can before he gets there, maybe Raditz survives but no way anyone else does.

As a fan of Goten, I don’t like this “twin” thing for him but I REALLY do like making Raditz a bigger character to the story. Instead of him dying when Goku dies. What if he does have a similar character arc in this retelling but Nappa is a bit stronger. Things I would change or add to the story is. There is some side plot where they end up losing a dragonball and ends up in a dangerous location where Raditz volunteers to get the ball, this is right before the saiyans land in the original timeline. He goes on this journey risking his life in the process but retrieves it and wishes goku back but not before Piccolo goes and dies for Gohan. There’s going to be some delay that causes goku to not come back immediately after being wished back to life. So now Raditz must go and fight Naapa alone to save Gohan that’s currently in rage boost while Vegeta still just sits and watches amused seeing Naapa struggle to beat a kid. Gohan uses all his energy and Nappa is still at like 75% and Raditz comes to dare nappa to fight a real saiyan. Raditz vs Nappa is an epic struggle and they’re evenly matched where raditz is actually talking shit to Naapa which pisses him off. Vegeta is playing both sides of the fence finding it amusing the entire time. Raditz then turns to Vegeta and shit talks that gets under his skin which was a grave mistake. Vegeta just goes and shoots through Naapa immediately killing him only seeing the surprise in his face as the blast is strong enough to fatally wound raditz as well. As Vegeta goes in for the killing blow, “KAIOKEN!” Goku goes and stops Vegeta shot. Raditz has a farewell talk to Goku, showing respect to understanding what Goku is and apologizing for even causing all this.. Goku only has 3 senzu beans and willing to sacrifice his bean to save Raditz. Raditz smacks it out his hand and tells him to use it on Gohan, Krillin, and hold on to the last one because he knows Goku will struggle to beat Vegeta. Then he could be the one that tells him that he overheard Frieza talking about going to namek and he can go and wish his friends back then. But, Raditz tells Goku to not wish him back. He’s a Saiyan at heart and took the death of their nation the HARDEST out of the rest and doesn’t want to live a new life as an Earthling. As Raditz takes his last breaths, Goku asks King Kai and King Yemma to allow Raditz to maintain his body after death. They’re skeptical but King Kai anxiously offers to watch over raditz but on the condition that it has to be on his planet as the worry that he still is evil. I feel like this retelling doesn’t step on any other characters toes in the story but just gives Raditz a proper farewell. Eventually later on, King Kai could start training Raditz to take his place as a Kai and once Goku dies in the cell arc they start building a real brother relationship. And Raditz could start teaching Goku the history of being a Saiyan, maybe even introducing him to their father and mother for the first time.He could also be of help in the buu arc fixing his relationship with Vegeta after Vegeta’s sacrifice. Just make more bad guys, like in the Frieza saga instead of just Frieza vs the broken ass team of z fighters. Make Cooler canon make king cold actually present during the Frieza saga, fuck it create a new Frieza race or family member. Like you’re already taking creative liberties, why stop now. The story can be interesting with all the z fighters, being relevant but don’t just toss quality away for quantity. You can’t convince me your incapable of messing with the story, so that shit doesn’t get repetitive and boring. But it’s also like a weird thing within what if communities struggle with, they treat it like going to far off the beaten path is Taboo. But because of that, all of them usually become very repetitive and boring. So many of these Stories could have tension, and actual stakes if you didn’t stay within the boundaries of what’s cannon. What ifs are basically already within the realm of FanFiction, you might as well have some fun with it.

He wouldnt have been special, I am definitely tired of hearing this "rage boost" lol, a "rage boost" would be power that doesnt exist within someone, but with Gohan the rage simply brings out dormant power that did already exist within him, but Goten is only special, both he and Trunks, because they were born when their dads were post SSJ, and Goku was ascended SSJ when he had Goten, Gohan is far more special, he was born from trash stock, a Goku that couldnt even hit 1000 power level with a full powered Kamehameha, yet still eclipsed the whole cast by the age of 11 1/2 with hardly any training in comparison to the length of his life.
