If you look at the UFC there has never actually been great boxers....because if they were great at boxing they can make a lot more just boxing. Like I said a 19 year old Tyson never went backwards...he was incredibly aggressive....if he hit you....even if you were an expert/experienced UFC fighter...you are definitely going to feel it....and it is probably going to be the hardest you've ever been hit. Good luck getting the guy with breathtaking anger issues on the ground or even trying to block him...imagine if Tyson could actually hold someone and hit them and that was completely legal in the sport...he would seriously injure someone.

tyson was a great fighter but he lost everytime he faced elite competion like lewis and holyfeild. If tyson didnt take u out in the first half of the fight then u had a pretty good chance at beating him. I think tyson/Ali would look a lot like the Ali/foreman fight. Tyson was a shell of his former self in that fight and all after. Timing was off, couldn't string punches together, flat footed, killer instinct was gone.

Like the guy said, "4 oz gloves"... Tyson punching you isn't the same as a talented mma fighter hitting you with a nice punch. You get hit by a punch from a very well trained MMA fighter, you're going to think, Damn, that hurts.. But no hit you receive from them will equal the damage of a Mike Tyson hook, uppercut, jab, whatever... Doesn't matter if he hits you in the face, stomach, ribs, sternum, chest, neck, arms, shoulder, sides, It's going to be almost unbareable.. None of those weak ass punches trying to figure out what kind of gameplan you may have for him. He's gonna hit and he's going to hit unlike anyone else. Not saying he's be the greatest ever but would definitely be alot better and more successful than most boxers would translating to the octagon.

How naive some people are, if a Boxer was going to prep seriously for the MMA then it only takes a few months of leg conditioning. Any fool stupid enough to to hyper extend a roundhouse to the thigh is going to be met with a punishing retaliation from the Boxer after he just wears it and brushes it off and once you have a Boxer in your face unloading combo's its pretty hard to fire off your kicks. I think the biggest obstacle Tyson would have faced in MMA would be size. He would be a heavyweight, but giving up 40 pounds and 3-5 inches. It is one thing to give up that much size when you are exchanging punches. it is another thing to give up that much when you are able to grapple and to hold. Body-wise, he would be kind of a tweener. On the plus side: he had great balance and a thick core. It would be no easy feat to control a leg for a takedown.

When people think of Mike, they only think of some crazy dude knocking people out...which is what he became in later years.....its rare that people focus on his crazy speed, his athleticism (which was rare in heavyweight division), and his drive....mike WANTED to be the best and baddest, and was a sponge in training.....I have no doubt in my mind that these factors, along with his insane power, woulda translated effectively to MMA.

Mike is a beast during his prime. Remember, not all UFC fighters are good at striking and boxing, most of them, if not all, are just good at the ground game and does not have a good boxing skill, which is necessary in MMA also. Just imagine how heavy handed Mike Tyson is, you put him in the UFC with the heavyweights with that speed and power, if he lands 1-2 punches in your head or face with a 4oz gloves, you are out cold ❄. Look at Mike's body during his prime, he can be trained to enter the UFC. He just lacks kick and ground game, it's not hard to train a guy like him who already has power in his hands and a good speed and body movement. Train him 7 months with Kick Boxing or Grappling, plus the boxing skill he has, Mike's gonna be a beast in the UFC.

***** not everyone is good at boxing or its rules....you cant take the best wrestler and turn him into a striker,it doesn't work like that,being a boxer the same thing you cant put him in a wrestling match and expect the same,having done both,i can tell you,wrestling takes more energy out of you physically,boxers take punches which is brutal at times but the wrestlers/grapplers don't have the luxury of cornerman or rounds,and really grind it out to win under 5 minutes.Tyson is a class on his own,talent wise,but its different athletism in MMA...many fighters are on par with Tysons abilites just not in boxing,or strictly punching....JDS and Cain do it extremely well..but they would have to use and mix up more of what they can do kick boxing/jui jitsu/wrestling.Grappling comes more naturally than boxing and is easier to apply,in short ,not that its easier,it depends on the fighter!
