The nuclear missiles in Turkey were not just because USA was planning to nuclear bomb Soviet Union for a long time and have the advantage in first, fast strike, but also to have the advantage in political games from the position of strength. Just responses to the USA aggressive actions during Cold war without escalating by its own even thought Soviet Union was strong enough is a result of socialistic development which benefits more from peacefull coexistence.

Creating a tension and people holding their breaths across the world every nation watching in fear and guess what it didn't happen. Korea war happened and we almost went to war with the Soviet Union and China almost close to WW3. Vietnam happened and that got us close to WW3 , Iraq, Iran, Etc and still we haven't gone to ww3. World War 3 isn't happening now its a huge tension that almost leading to it but its a tense proxy war that is going on around the world. We still fighting in Somolia, Syria, and Iraq against ISIS. When WW3 begins we will know about it right now it hasn't happen and still just close to happen but can be easing on the tension meaning going back to where we aren't close
