Ahhhhhh the dreaded "Halo Effect!!!!" This is the game changer or game breaker when it comes to doing a composition. It has been for me the hardest part to correct using PSE. I know that the program comes with refined edge tool but that is often like settling for a grade of "B" vs getting a grade of "A"! Thanks, George because of all I have tried, I never have used the clone stamp tool on a mask for correcting this problem. I don't believe I have seen anyone else offer this as a solution either. You are also the only one who chooses the polygonal lasso tool above all others. The key, as you shown, is to make that picture larger and make a careful selection. This seems like a lot of work but it really is not, the reason why is that if you make a good selection to start, you spend less time dealing with stuff like the halo effect later. It is an added benefit that you can make this adjustment without affecting the background or changing colors as some other people advised. You can't get a picture to really pop if the whole thing is about working in mid tones, it's the lights and darks that make it show detail and effect. The clone stamp is a great solution. Thanks for helping in selling the effect by removing the Halo!!!! Happy Easter George and family! Rich

Thanks Rich! The real key to any good photo manipulation or photo retouch is a good selection. I go for the polygonal lasso tool since it gives the most direct control, more control = better selection. I admit it takes longer but the time is well spent. George

You're welcome. There are several ways to fix a halo problem but I like the clone stamp for hair and the dodge/burn brushes to lighten or darken. George
