This video got a bit more delayed than I had hoped. I had to rerecord and re-edit portions of it 3 times :( Patreon video will be up tomorrow, rather than today, for the same reason. Thanks for submissions and sorry for delayed vid. feel free to check out the games, Yestersol, Rogue Tanks and Squid Grid :) As always with these types of videos, I might not necessarily be correct, but hopefully I at least showcase my thought process. This video much like the last one was unscripted and with an extra angle, if you feel ok with this type of style, please comment (they do technically speed up my workflow considerably, this video mostly was delayed due to weird audio-feedback and a rogue white hair strand that bugged me).

Always awesome content friend. Keep it up! I do find some of the jump cuts to be just a bit jarring. Give the end of your speech a second before you jump into the next thought. Feels like you almost talk over yourself a few times. Other than that, I liked the unscripted bits more than the scripted, you can see more of your personality come out. Cheers!

Ye, I also find them jarring at times, the most jarring examples are quite often due to mess-ups though. Where I don't actually have a clean cut of a particular sentence, so I am forced to stitch together two separate takes, would probably get better with time, but it is a problem I recognise :)

Are there still open submissions? I had no idea it had happened.😢 Never mind, i found it. No wonder i didn't see it on time, I never use reddit.😅

Cool! You talked about my game, Rogue Tanks! I can totally see making the water lines more curvy. I already changed the Armor display to a symbol instead of text. That is another nice point about the wood. I've known my graphics have been sub-par, but when I show them to people or ask for feedback, I haven't received advice on how to fix them specifically like you've done here. Thanks a lot!

Ohhhhh thanks for the tips on YesterSol! I learn so much from your videos and have improved the art over time :D I'll definitely play around with readability!

Your emphasis on readability and consistent aesthetic regardless of skill has helped me SO MUCH in my game art and overall development. I'm both terrified and excited to eventually submit something for review, but your ability to look at something and point out exactly what makes it work or not work, or just makes it feel "off", and how to fix it is incredibly valuable.

This is not only good advice but also good methodology. Experimentation uber alles.

I'd love to see you do a video on top-down game art. Most of your vids seem to focus on 2D platformers, and I'm curious if you'd think about a top down video's artistic direction differently at all (I know two of the games in this vid were sorta top-down). Great video as always!

6:24 this is true, nowadays (and ever since fnaf) people find meaning where there isn't any so having ugly or imperfect art (a la binding of Isaac) can make people appreciate and remember your game even if in reality it was all out of a lack of skill

Thank you, can you make a tutorial on how to stop godot from ruining my game art? it always end up looking wonky, it looks crisp on the software but even with no filtering or compression godot displays it oddly

If it's an issue of art becoming blurry, then try [ project settings -> rendering -> textures ] and then change "Default Texture Filter" to "Nearest." Applying that would deblur the sprites/art in your game.
