HOW YOU CAN STILL DO THE KNOCKOUT TEXT IN CRICUT DS AFTER CRICUT DISABLED THE SAVE FEATURE | 2 WAYS

Hi everyone! In this video I'm sharing how you can still make the knockout in Cricut Design Space after the update where Cricut disabled the save feature. I'm using a windows computer and use the snipping tool. I also show how to make the knockout in the phonto app. I like the end results better with this.
MAC USERS
Keep bleed on
Turn on use system dialog
Click print
Look behind your screen for the print box, select PDF menu and choose open in preview
Once open in preview opens, press command + shift + 4. Click and drag a box around the words only and release the mouse.
Close out of everything then upload the screen shot.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD FONT ONTO IOS DEVICE
Go to safari and search for dafont.com. Search for I love glitter then download.
If you have your IOS device updated you'll be able to click on the arrow with the circle in the upper right hand corner.
Select I love glitter and it will take you to a download screen. Tap on the zip file and it will automatically decompress your file.
Select the folder then I select the OTF file.
Click on the square with the arrow in the right upper corner. Scroll to the right and select the 3 dots that says more then choose copy to phonto.
It will automatically open up the phonto app.
PHONTO INSTRUCTIONS
Open up the phonto app.
Tap on the grids and select plain image.
Next to the black square select the white box in the right upper hand corner
Click the square with the arrow at the upper right hand corner then select use.
Now tap on the white square and select add text.
Select fonts - you can see at the bottom you can choose between fonts and my fonts. You'll find your download under my fonts.
Select I love glitter.
Type in the glyphs and name the exact way as we did in Cricut Design Space - [ _ ] then select done.
The font will be white to change it to black select style and select the black square.
While you are in there click on stroke then select the black square. After that increase the width at the bottom to how thick you want the shadow to be. Then click done.
At the bottom right corner select the square with the arrow and select save image. This will save it to your images in your phone or iphone.
I use dropbox to get my image uploaded from my IOS device to my computer.

silhouette has sooo many more options but i had a cricut explore air2 already and really liked it. so i downloaded the silhouette program, did my design in there and used the snipping option to save my image and use in cricut design. I traced it and pressed offset. you can change the size of the offset. worked great!! thanks for the snipping option. I've been using the screen caption and than had to go and crop it first.

I was experimenting a little and found you can save a step and turn off the grid in Design Space to use your snipping tool in there...just go to settings and turn off grid. Thank you for all your help and information!!! Your tutorials are my favorite to watch.

Hi Kayla, thank you for this update, when I did this a couple of weeks ago, it worked perfectly, since then, I updated DS to v5.6.19 and now when you bring the shadow in ( using I Love glitter) it brings it in very messy, seems we can't win. I'm an Inkscape user anyway, so to me it's fine, but for others who have learnt this in the past, Cricut changed the rules yet again. have you tried this method since this latest update?? I would love to know. I see you are doing this on the BETA v5.2.14

Hey so I saved the font to phonto, but I did both the final font and the blob looking one in photo to ensure they were exactly the same. I saved them in the phonto app and then opened the cricut app and uploaded the images and removed the background spaces and saved there. Then on my computer I just went go the upload folder and there it was. No need to save to dropbox or email yourself. Just upload straight to cricut on your phone then open it on the computer. I didnt have to close design space and reopen it or anything to refresh it was just there. So that was cool. Phonto was definitely alot quicker and easier and better quality than doing it on the computer. It did take alot longer on the computer too. Hope this helps yall!!

I did a shirt similar to this just that she wanted a black heart (it’s on Cricut a design space) and she told me that she hand washed her shirt and that seemed to be coming off a little and I also noticed some of the lettering is cracked...do you happen to know what I might of done wrong ? 😞

I've been struggling with this for days. Your video is helpful. My problem is not misunderstanding what you're doing. I've been using Cricut software to weld, and slice since the beginning. I do all these steps exactly but when I hit slice the sliced part changes its size and then when I go to put the font in place it doesn't line up.. no matter how much I try resizing it. It's like the sliced opening warps somehow after I hit slice and the original font will not fit anymore. I've tried it the print and cut way and I also tried it by making the shadow by hand using the duplicate method. I am at a loss for why it does this to me. No one I ask has any advice. It seems to always work out perfectly for everyone else. 😢

On the design space in the corner box between 0 and 0, you can select that twice to get a blank background. Could you use the snipping tool on this screen or do you need it in print for size?

@@KaylasCricutCreations I tried skipping a step by NOT taking it as far as sending it to the printer, that is, using your snipping tool on the canvas rather than before you print it, and this will not ( basically all you are doing is duplicating it, which is a useless step) work for the effect you need, the bleed feature will thicken the font, that's where it is copied by using the clipping tool, so your video is the correct way.

Question: I am at the spot where the shadow and words are even and I am splicing the shadow to "MOM". After I center mom and the names, then click splice I removed the extra layers. Now I am trying to fit the names into the empty section and the names are slightly off. What can I do because there is a lot of empty space?

I have troubles with that as well sometimes when doing this :( Sometimes I have to play around with it. The way that I've found to really make the spaces even is using the phonto app. Toward the end of the video I show how to make it using that. I would give that a try instead.
