You can't get head lice from a hot tub because lice hold on tightly to the hair whenever they encounter water, otherwise you'd be able to get rid of them really easily by just washing your hair.

What about getting them from barbers? How common is that?

It's not very common to get lice from the barbers or hairdressers, because they clean their tools between clients, but it is possible.

Hi! I recently found out that I had lice on may 9th after pulling three out of my hair one day in class because I felt something tickling me.. I told my mom and she did a lice treat me for me right away.. she used baby oil to make it harder for them to move around and breathe?.. she combed my hair for hours trying to get EVERYTHING.. after that she washed it all out etc etc.. we also washed ALL of my clothes,steamed my mattress,washed my sheets and covers, and wiped down every surface I’ve touch..(forgot to note I have very thick and long hair) but after she did all that I had no itching or tingling sensation on my scalp for a couple of days.. but but around may 16-20 I decided to comb my hair with the lice comb and I found SEVERAL.. I combed my hair for so long.. and I thought I got everything but on may 26 I decided to comb out my hair because my head was itching a little with the lice comb just ease my mind to make sure I actually got them all.. but sure enough I caught three baby louse’s.. now I’m constantly brushing my hair almost everyday and I’m still finding eggs.. I’ve been watching your videos on what the eggs look like and how to tell if they hatched or not but it’s very difficult for me to tell since they are so small… but after Thursday I’ve combed my hair almost every day and even today.. but I’m only getting dandruff and Hardly any eggs (I think)… also I’m very sorry this is dragging/long it’s currently 11:27 pm and I’m tired but I just want these little things gone for good

Ok In short I’ve gotten rid of all the lice that has hatched but I still have either egg casings/unhatched eggs in my hair (can’t really tell if it’s hatched or not even though I watched your videos about it.. they’re small and hard for me to see even on white surfaces) what advice do you have that can kill lice eggs

I'm sorry you've been struggling with lice for so long. It sounds like there are a few questions here: #1- It sounds like you didn't get rid of it the first time because you didn't get the lice eggs out of the hair. That's pretty normal for things to stop itching for a while, because you got the lice bugs out, but then the lice eggs end up hatching and the process starts all over again. #2- As far as telling the difference between lice and dandruff, have you watched my other tutorial Lice vs Dandruff? Here's a link: myliceadvice.com/lice-vs-dandruff-video-tutorial/ #3- As far as advice for the eggs, I cover that in depth in my step-by-step video system. If you're interested in that then here's the link it: myliceadvice.com/how-to-get-rid-of-lice-like-a-pro/ My advice to you would be to watch the Lice vs Dandruff tutorial to get started, that'll help you know if what you're finding now are eggs or not.

@@myliceadvice4403 I watched what the lice vs dandruff was and it really helped because most of the things That were visible were the dandruff.. but when I looked very closely I found lice eggs.. very hard to move without pinching my fingers and sliding them off (it won’t pick off unless I slide it hard) I really can’t tell if it’s an egg casing from the previous infestation or if it’s unhatched one

@vipersdesire2366 hey I just saw your comment and I realize it's been a year so you probably have long past this point in your life but I wanted to comment just in case someone else is going through this. I've recently discovered that on your camera in your phone mine goes up to x10 which is an amazing amazing tool magnifying almost anything! I'm getting old and my eyes are tired so i use my camera to read a recipe or for ingredients, nutrition facts, Etc on packaged Foods. I use it for looking at my skin like my face, as weĺl as seeing little tiny things like tiny bugs. I discovered this while cleaning my mother's home after getting a lift chair that had bed bugs so I cleaned her house literally with a magnifying glass to eliminate them all but it also works on being able to see your hair . My camera doesn't magnify on the selfie mode so I used the back camera and reflected into a mirror you can see really well every strand of hair. once we have this for a period of time, we fear getting them again, so you can use this going forward to ensureyou havent gotten them back. okay with that being said, let me tell you how I got rid of them(after 3 months combing my hair that touched my knees EVERYDAY) once and for all: RIDDING HEAD LICE ~~BABY OIL or any type of oil at night before going to bed (but cover your hair with a handkerchief or shower cap to prevent oil on your sheets ) ~~then DAWN DISH SOAP in the morning to wash out all the oil ~~do it for 7 to 10 days and unless you're having a nurse check your hair every day you will not have to even comb out the nits!! ~~WASH all bedding (put in BLACK trash bags if unable to wash immediately; i.e. like needing to wait until payday 2go2 laundromat)-- ♡Sheets ♡blankets ♡comforters ♡ don't forget the dust ruffle ♡pillows AND pillowcases ♡teddy bears, toys, other stuffies ♡curtains and rugs close to your bed as well as bathroom rugs ♡all clothing you have worn recently ~~all of these need to be washed in HOT WATER, dried 30 mins AFTER CLOTHES ARE DRY ~~teddy bears, and any other cloth item that cannot be washed and is not necessary rugs, extra blankets or clothes, coats or extra pillows Etc need to go in a BLACK trash bags (TIGHTLY SECURED) for 2 weeks ~~vacuum thoroughly: ♡mattress ♡carpets ♡sofa/ chairs ♡bar stools ♡other cloth covered furniture ~~then empty vacuum into a bag and tie it up tight ~MIX 2 CUPS of VINEGAR to 1 CUP of WATER and spray on EVERYTHING! This kills most bugs...roaches, lice, bedbugs

I've been at a public library several times over the last few weeks. A LOT of homeless people go there. Is it possible that I got lice after sitting at a table where someone with lice sat before me? There's this tickling itch on the same spot on my scalp/in my hair that started a couple hours ago and won't go away! I swear it feels like something is crawling in there. It's freaking me out.

Head lice are spread predominantly from DIRECT head-to-head-contact. Scientists estimate that about 90% of head lice pass this way. Because lice do not jump like fleas and they do not fly like mosquitoes, they have to rely on their claws to grip onto hair and spread directly from one person to another. They can quickly move from one person's head to another from minimal direct contact.

@Brisco this definitely seems like profiling to me I think you definitely have a misunderstanding of those without homes I've had a Ministry for the homeless for 30 plus years and the only few that I've really met that have had hygiene issues you're a very select few that had mental disabilities or physical disabilities like in a wheelchair those are the ones that I would load up in my truck and take to my house 12 Mi away and help them to get a shower because they couldn't get a shower by themselves at the rec center where they were given free passes by the soup kitchen so being that I'm a CNA and have a shower chair at home I would take them to my house help them to get a shower and no one in my life I believe has ever been more grateful but 95% of homeless people work very hard at hygiene

also. I read in your comment that you had an itching and just one spot on your head more than likely that's not head lice because they generally multiply pretty quickly and you're going to feel itching all over your scalp as opposed to one spot here's my recipe for what I did when I had them 20-plus years agookay with that being said, let me tell you how I got rid of them(after 3 months combing my hair that touched my knees EVERYDAY) once and for all: RIDDING HEAD LICE ~~BABY OIL or any type of oil at night before going to bed (but cover your hair with a handkerchief or shower cap to prevent oil on your sheets ) ~~then DAWN DISH SOAP in the morning to wash out all the oil ~~do it for 7 to 10 days and unless you're having a nurse check your hair every day you will not have to even comb out the nits!! ~~WASH all bedding (put in BLACK trash bags if unable to wash immediately; i.e. like needing to wait until payday 2go2 laundromat)-- ♡Sheets ♡blankets ♡comforters ♡ don't forget the dust ruffle ♡pillows AND pillowcases ♡teddy bears, toys, other stuffies ♡curtains and rugs close to your bed as well as bathroom rugs ♡all clothing you have worn recently all of these need to be washed in HOT WATER, dried 30 mins AFTER CLOTHES ARE DRY ~~teddy bears, and any other cloth item that cannot be washed and is not necessary rugs, extra blankets or clothes, coats or extra pillows Etc need to go in a BLACK trash bags (TIGHTLY SECURED) for 2 weeks ~~vacuum thoroughly: ♡mattress ♡carpets ♡sofa/ chairs ♡bar stools ♡other cloth covered furniture ~~then empty vacuum into a bag and tie it up tight

Hi one question can garlic kill lice or lice eggs?
@myliceadvice4403
@myliceadvice4403 2 жыл бұрын
In a 2018 comparative study of home remedies, garlic oil performed as one of the very worst lice remedies. Garlic oil did not kill ANY head lice or lice eggs, even after being left on the head for 48 hours. So no, that's not a good one. I cover all the home remedies and whether they are good or bad in my article here: myliceadvice.com/best-home-remedies-for-lice-nits/

Garlic and lemon
@myliceadvice4403
@myliceadvice4403 2 жыл бұрын
Are you talking lice prevention or lice treatment? Garlic and lemon are both not good for lice prevention or treatment. If you're wondering about lice prevention then the best scents are in the mint family; specifically peppermint, tea tree oil and even spearmint. Other scents they don't like include citronella and lemongrass (is that what you're think about?). In any case, those scents/essential oils don't kill lice, they are just for prevention. If you want to know more about lice prevention check out my article and video about lice prevention here: myliceadvice.com/lice-prevention-steps-for-parents/

Can't lice jump?
@myliceadvice4403
@myliceadvice4403 2 ай бұрын
Great question. Head lice do not jump. Head lice legs are designed more like crab legs, so they can grip onto things and they can crawl really well, but they can't jump. If you're finding something that is jumping then it's more likely that you're dealing with fleas.
