Sadly from experience,….cheaters can also, suddenly and/or unusually, start to shower you with gifts, flowers, promises of things they know you love eg. “Next weekend we’ll do ABC etc, but this weekend I have to do XYZ”…of course ABC never comes. This is probably to ease their own guilt and give the impression to the world outside your relationship, that they are the good guy. I reckon they do this as they know or suspect that you will be confiding in your friends or family, and they want to do everything they can to gaslight those around you. I was gaslit for years and the gift giving was showy, so my own family, friends and work colleagues all doubted me when I said I thought he was cheating and they even supported him…until he was caught red handed. Perhaps this type of cheater is also narcissistic, sociopathic, psychopathic or has some other form of anti-social behavior…whatever it is, it’s a living nightmare as you do begin to seriously doubt yourself, thinking that you’re going crazy and you also have nowhere to turn…

Her intuition told her something was seriously wrong, at 29! he went raving, staying out super late, being sketchy taking calls away from her, switched off his location, failed to return home citing intoxication. He gaslighted her stating she wasn’t exciting enough. She works crazy hours and gets exhausted from commuting, paid for a very expensive birthday trip because his family arranged nothing. I was only on it whilst he was in the shower or playing on his computer IGNORING ME. Then I found the messages with the other girl complaining about me. 😑 I should've left that day, wish I hadn't continued it. Of course he was sneaking around behind my back and his own mother was lying to my face to cover for him. His friends were serial cheaters. My ex husband cheated. These 7 tips, I totally can relate to. What made me take notice is that although he didn't stop having intimate relations, he wouldn't sleep in the same bed. He would sleep on the couch, and sometimes during our intimate times, he would be so unloving and try to convince me to do something that I wasn't comfortable with. Then when I would stand my ground, he would blame me for the fight and storm off. I would always be left feeling terrible... but that's another topic for another day ( Hint ladies; narcissists cheat.)

What I noticed before my husband cheated was an increase in absent mindedness. He was so distracted that he kept misplacing his things. He became more arrogant. More full of himself. He became very disinterested in “our” conversations and would walk away in the middle of my answer to his question! He became more self centered. More critical of me and our daughter. More demanding. More entitled. More victimized. More misunderstood. Increased usage of electronic devices. Less eye contact. Of course, more secretive. More controlling of money. More defensive. More aggressive. Treated us like his enemies. More angry, more bullying and talking over us and refusing to listen. More avoidant than usual. More “in his head”. More passive aggressive. Talked more about his achievements and how great he was. Started using emoji’s in his texts that he didn’t seem to know before. He became a stranger that I didn’t know.

He is not putting any effort and zero communication on his part. I had several of those conversations with him, but he shuts me out, doesn't give me a straight answer, is like "who are you". I recently lost my mother 5 weeks ago and he hasn't been very supportive of that either. @@AliciaGarcia-hj9ms You are not alone. Don't believe him when he says he wants to "fix things" because he won't. He wants you to fix things on your end so that he will feel entitle to guide you to a solution that will allow him to be in control of your emotions, your life and your time. He's serving you with "conditional love and relationship" on a silver platter. Don't believe him. If this is the 2nd or even 3rd time in your marriage, walk away. I know. I've been there. Just remember: you're stronger than you think you are, smarter than he believes you are and nicer than he deserves. If a separation doesn't "fix" things, divorce is in your future and believe me, you'll discover that you are a woman worth knowing, worth loving and worth treasuring. If he gives you this one-liner: My dad had lots of female friends when he was married, why shouldn't I? - run out the door! The cheating is ingrained and can't be fixed by you and takes years of therapy to change. Getting psychological help on your end will save your mind, gut and emotional stability. If he's anything like my former husband, he'll refuse therapy saying that there's nothing wrong with him or he'll say: I don't need therapy but I can help you instead of spending all that money. If he accepts couple or marriage counseling with you here are signs he's not willing to change or commit to your marriage or to deepen your relationship: - talks about his work for 45 minutes of the 1 hour appointment; - finds any excuse to not attend the session and has you go alone; - gets conveniently held up at work or sick; - always has an excuse to not do the exercises the therapist recommends you do as a couple or individually; - continues to gaslight or start taking your things (in my case it was a watch) and moving them around the house then tells you he never touched it; - offers you a class so that you don't have to pay for the therapist and insists the class will change you so that he can love you better. If he does any of those, it's time to say goodbye. And, realize that though your children will be upset about the split and possible divorce, they won't be surprised!

@@AliciaGarcia-hj9ms Alicia, he's not even there for you when you've lost your mother? Sigh. I know you feel emotionally drained, defeated trying for someone who used to be there for you and is now not available. You're mourning, grieving for the relationship you once had. Because it's gone. He hurt you Alicia more than once and that's too much heartache especially with him not making any effort. If he's not communicating and shuts you out then it'll make you feel even worse each day you're trying and not receiving any signs of him understanding you. I'm sorry he's being this way and has hurt you before too, but you can stop the cycle of his abuse by not tolerating it anymore! You're hurt and in so much pain because he crossed so many lines that he shouldn't have! There are boundaries we should never cross or else the trust, respect and friendship becomes broken. This guy doesn't respect you. If he cared enough he'd wipe your tears, cherish you and try to salvage what's left of your relationship before you don't want to talk to him or ever see him again. One day you'll just wake up and it'll be enough for you. You'll have had enough of his nonsense, his immaturity, his insensitivity, his lack of appreciation and kindness to you and your needs. You'll realize that you haven't cried as much and that you don't care if he tried calling you or that he didn't come over. Don't let him use you as his net whenever things don't work out with some side chic! Girl, don't let him mistreat you like that! Come on! You're better than that! Take a deep breath, stand up tall, take care of yourself as best as you can and try to rest. I know it's hard to not be consumed with what he's doing away from you, to you, and what he's not doing enough of, but if he's not caring or being supportive of you f*** him and treat yourself right for you-- use that time on yourself to lift your spirits go pamper yourself, get organized, keep yourself busy with getting yourself in check. Streamline your life. Go wash your tears, take a nice bath, do something nice for yourself and tell yourself you deserve peace in your life not chaos and toxic people frustrating you, making you confused and hurt all the time. You're constantly spinning in thoughts aren't you? Stop his abuse towards you Alicia. You can do it. Put your foot down and say enough is enough. We long for what we had, but those guys are not who we used to know. They've made awful decisions, one too many mistakes that have changed us as well. They don't want to hear us hurting. They run out the door because they're too weak to face reality and the consequences of their actions. The only way is communication, consistency, patience and time. Through that is understanding, reassurance and mending of trust but only if they are willing to and actually stop the abusive behavior not continue it over and over. And if they do, they're not worthy of you Alicia. You've stayed, you've pushed yourself to do the impossible even in pain (I can see you catering to him, cooking, cleaning, doing his laundry, making his lunches, still remembering anniversaries even after he's hurt you and hasn't helped with the amount of healing your heart still yearns to feel) and I can see you struggling with every "I'll be back" not knowing if he will and who he will be this time if he even comes home-- a nicer person who actually reflected on his actions and wants to make amends or an angrier, more aggressive person who can't look you in the face and just wants to fight so you could be scared to go talk to him. I can see you not fight with him when he comes home cuz you've gone through so much that your heart feels so bruised already, you need a break from all of it, and you're just glad he's home even if he didn't acknowledge you and just went to sleep... but after a few hours you're still left with the thoughts of him being out with someone else and all those doubts or what you find on a receipt or see on his phone lighting up has your gut instinct confirmed. You even know he cheated. There's no guessing or wondering if he did. And it's not his first time?! Alicia please open your eyes. Don't allow this madness to keep happening to you. Time is precious and we need to use it wisely! We can't get decades of our lives back. You have the opportunity to start a new life without this mess he's not helping you fix. Don't lose anymore time. He's had 29 years to figure things out and still doesn't give you straight answers. If you have children with him, I totally understand why you're trying to be the rock, the one who keeps the family together, but once you're finally happy, your kids will say "mom, why didn't you leave dad sooner?" They feel this too, and want what's best for you. If you're a happier mom you'll be more present in their lives and feel the weight off you! No more playing with your kids with a heavy heart! None of him making no sense or his dumb actions weighing you down anymore! You can actually focus on that movie or your chores and hobbies without thoughts and triggers constantly evading your mind or checking to see if he's called or coming home. No more waiting for him to come home Alicia. You deserve happiness and love not feelings of loneliness, trauma, confusion and fear with someone in your life! Tell yourself right now that you deserve joy! It's ok to express sadness because of what he's done but slowly and surely when you refuse to feel this way anymore you will realize he's not worth the aggravation and stop wasting your time with someone who's selfish and self-centered. He comes off as someone who doesn't have a conscience, no guilt, no remorse. Why put up with that?! Don't. He has rules for himself and different ones for you I'm sure. I'm so sorry for your loss😔🥺😢 Please take care of yourself and your heart and don't put up with his BS any longer. If he's not there for you at a time like this you will resent him for it as well. I know you have a forgiving heart but you need your sanity too. You need to let him go especially if he isn't willing to see his faults, doesn't sincerely apologize and refuses to change his bad behavior!!!

Maybe my situation is a learnt behaviour, because even though my dad cheated, i never witnessed any violence or arguments between my mum & dad. We were 10 children & us children are not even speaking, it feels as though the disfunctional upbringing rub off on us all, the children.😂😂🙈🤣

I hate to say it.... one common red flag for me was when they would bring me flowers or a gift for no reason. I had 3 different exes who would do that after they had been talking or doing something inappropriate with another woman. It was out of guilt. It went along with other red flags, though. Unfortunately, it gives me anxiety now when a man that I'm dating randomly brings me flowers/gifts when it's not a special occasion.🙃

Terrible advice you just gave. You are probably one of those terrible female advice givers that sabotages other peoples relationships. When I’d notice my wife feeling down I’d buy her flowers and that made her more angry. Thanks for destroying my marriage. I didn’t buy her flowers because of another woman, I bought them cuz I loved my wife and wanted to surprise her with flowers out of the blue. Females give terrible advice to one another.

Yes! And not just about cheating or your intuition, but just in general about listening to guys when they tell you something. I have a lot of guy friends, and I've been told I think like a guy (I'm female). One thing is guys are sooo much less complicated than women. Women tend to overthink. Just take what a guy says at face value (most of the time). I remember one time I went to dinner with a bunch of girls and one of the girls arrived late. When she arrived, she apologized, saying she was on the phone with the guy she had been seeing, and he said he wasn't interested in being in a committed relationship at the time and didn't want her to wait for him. She asked us what we thought of that. I'm thinking, uh, he told you what he meant. There's no reason to doubt his word. In fact, if anything, it shows he had respect for her, because he was upfront with her instead of leading her on while he cheated on her behind her back. I told her he wasn't interested in a committed relationship. She gave me such a dirty look. Next, one of the other girls said, no, I don't think he really means that. Yes, he did! HE told you what he meant, so why is someone else who's not in his brain telling her what he meant?

did you ever hear about how we are here to change ourselves and not others? did you know that we can't change others - they have to want to change or it won't happen? so all we can do is change ourselves and then our life changes. I know it sounds trite or stupid right now maybe but.......our thoughts really are drawing conditions to us. so I would kindly suggest to you to start looking at how you are feeling and by this I mean, start writing out how you feel. all of it. keep writing until it's all out on the paper in front of you. then look at what it is telling you about YOU. what are your beliefs? how is this familiar to you? that is how we begin. I have had to do this and still do this, everyday. it helps us to see what we are creating. we have to become our own best friend first and how we can begin this is by being willing to listen to ourselves and to how we feel. if we do not think we are worth listening to, how can we expect others to think that we are? it begins with us. God bless you. we are here to spiritually awaken...

Yes this happened to me. Then he retired but was still talking to her. The more they talked I started feeling suspicious. Then he left his phone at home. It kept ringing so when I answered it was our son, he'd recently changed his phone number. So curiosity got the best of me and I found their text message exchange. That's when I found out his plans to divorce me in the spring. Of course he only heard the word affair and I had to inform him that it doesn't always mean sex. Now he's planning to move out. Before any of this I really had no clue besides the excessive phone calls. I'm a little strange, when he doesn't answer my questions I go to the other person for answers. At this point it is what it is- after 28 years of marriage, I don't even think it's worth trying to save. Right now my main focus is my health and preparing for radiation. After 12weeks, I would have expected some change in his body - not to say buffed, but would have expected some weight loss, not weight gain..! Anyway, I followed him to the gym three times. He was meeting his best friends wife for “ drinks and a meal”… His best friend divorced his cheating wife. I forgave my husband once, but four years later he did it again. This time with my “best friend” who I knew for over twenty years..! Lesson learned. Once a cheater, always a cheater.

Once a cheater... And no consequence (like a heartbreak because of divorce) does create a "NO FEAR" thus a repeat offender. I know it wasn't a wonderful thing to do YET he NEEDED to have this mark. Some men AND women dissect what happened? Where was the break down?, Was there respect? Did I get to know him also? Did he do most of the talking or did I? Was I REALLY interested in him? It takes time to recall what the literal marriage was like. What kind of love. Did we stop LOOKing at each other when we conversated? The more time you have BEFORE dating again the more WHOLE and AWARE you can be. I feel for people who just go back into another relationship and they very shortly see the SAME thing which is like starting out with "baggage" and not REALLY free YET. I'm glad/sad for you. It wasn't easy I'm sure.

What went through my mind when I was cheated on was not ‘could I have been better’ or ‘was I not good enough’ instead I couldn’t understand how someone could enjoy great conversations, nights out and fantastic sex and enjoy such great times together and still feel the need to enjoy someone else too. Then I found out he'd been missing work to be with this other woman who was married with kids. I confronted him on multiple occasions but he lied, and I knew he was lying but that didn't stop him. I caught him in a huge lie 2 weeks ago. He tried to lie about that too. The following day I found all the texts & messages. Again, he tried with another lie. I saw all the signs and tried to confront him every time. It failed. I feel like my life is in ruins. Now he's back at work and seems to be happy as they work together so he's lost nothing. This only came to a head 2 weeks ago, he's told me to rebuild my life and get over it. I think it will take me more than 14 days to recover from finding out my 11 year relationship has been destroyed.

Weve been married 22yrs and my gut has me thinking it feels like he doesnt love me anymore because I remember how it felt when I had no question that he did. It is literally killn me that I cant get peace about this from him. It should be a husbands duty to make their wife feel secure. He just dont cant or wont. Im so hopeless.

All 7 signs with my ex fiancé. 8 years together, from age 16 to 24. He began an affair with a college classmate, 6 months before our wedding. My husbands ex wife had an affair. I’ve been with my husband for over 11 years now. Never experienced any signs. In a weird way, I’m glad my ex did what he did. He wasn’t my forever but I needed to experience that level of pain to know exactly what I wanted and who I wanted to be in a marriage.

Anytime a guy pulls the "crazy" card on a woman, it's because he's about to get caught.

I agree w/ you. I started seeing red flags and then he'll be like "you're crazy" ....nah I'm just catching on to you. And the bringing the phone to the BR all the time where I couldn't hear and it was always the girl who's "just his friend" lol. Yeah after a while those red flags just become more obvious.

So true, I’m pushing 50 and learning this the hardest way possible, which is the only way I ever learn anything tbh. I’ve been in one marriage (18 years), it was a parent/child dynamic, so I was afraid to express my feelings. The second relationship was 10 years, and I sometimes expressed my feelings, only to be met with nothing. Like no response, no changed behavior. It was as if I hadn’t said anything at all. This 3rd relationship has been 2 years so far, and boy, is he getting trial by fire. I’m being 1000% honest, whether he likes it or not. And it’s been rough. But he’s still here, and I’m still here, and I think as long as we both can handle RAW honesty (with respect, of course), we’ll be ok.

When first meeting someone if they mention that they are a "Good person. BEWARE. Someone truly good and decent doesn't try to convince you of that -they just do their thing by being good and decent!

they should not have to say they are a good person. you should see it already by the things they do with you .

Exactly. He said this to me in early our relationship and I laughed and said don’t say the things that I don’t know or see, I want to know you by your behaviours and actions lol

Be funny he cheated with someone who cheats on him.

Although it may be true in some cases, that is a big myth. Sometimes I tell people what a good person I am out of habit, because I'm used to being cut down and subconsciously what to convince them.
