Written by Mary Guathier with Gretchen Peters, this hauntingly beautiful interpretation by Jonathan Jackson speaks eloquently and painfully from the deepest, darkest hollow of a broken soul. The anguished loneliness is as real as anything ever gets. Thank you Mary, Gretchen, and Jonathan for giving voice to the indescribable.
And yet... despite the depths of pain we may descend, somehow hope springs eternal. Please... view the video (below) by Clare Bowen, also from Nashville. She is a preternaturally enchanting angel who effortlessly reaches into your heart and plants a seed of hope with "When The Right One Comes Along". • Video

Yes... Angels do walk among us.

His voice is angelic. Definitely the right voice for the song. I knew he could play the guitar but never heard him play the piano which sounds awesome as well. I don't usually like piano music unless it's Elton John, Stevie Wonder, etc. I have seen him act on a lot of different things. He's a man of many talents. I've heard a lot of his music from his band Enation but this song just speaks to me. I live alone in chronic pain. It's not an easy life to be isolated but I strongly feel if we are still on this planet, God has given us a purpose. I hope someday all of us who feel so alone and live alone will someday feel loved. My fiancee died in my arms over 2 years ago and my son is grown and married and now trying to figure out where life is supposed to take me next. My interpertation of the song. Prayers for all who feel this way and bless you Jonathan Jackson for always excelling at what you do.

I think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written...and Jonathan Jackson is the perfect man to sing it. He's wonderful. I saw him recently at the Opry, and have loved him since he was a little boy playing Lucky on GH. He's sure grew up to be a gorgeous man!

I only started watching Nashville this past winter. So when I heard this on the special, it was my first time hearing it. I cried like a baby. The lyrics and music are beautiful and Jonathan really drives it home with the way he sings it. Beautiful song that really spoke to me and it affects me every time I hear it.

This song is without a doubt my favorite song ever. I went through the most brutal last 2 years ending in a much needed divorce. "And you sit there in the rubble til the rubble feels like home" - boy that sums it all up. Now I'm enjoying the calm after the storm. So beautifully written - and equally well performed.

@genemichael9278
@genemichael9278 6 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry for your loss. 42 years together is such a blessing so many people never reach. And yet, losing that gift of decades cuts so deeply, because your loss is so apparent. Relationships are a gift given to us by God. They enrich our lives beyond measure. Yet, these beautiful Spirits were never ours to keep. They're ours to cherish - but on borrowed time. And knowing they're a gift of extraordinary price means the greater the gift, the greater the pain of separation. But death isn't an ending. Your husband is only further along the same path we all take. He is only temporarily hidden from your view beyond the horizon. You will see him again.

Cindy, You'll be happy to know Nashville is available on Hulu - It has all this season's CMT episodes (new ones show up within a day or so of appearing on CMT); and all previous episodes & seasons from ABC. You can subscribe for about $8 per month and also get a LOT of other programs. If you're not familiar with it, Hulu can be streamed to a variety of devices such as a PC, Smartphone, or a TV box like Roku. Check it out & good luck!

Is he lip-syncing? Just noticed he isn't wearing in-ear monitors like he does at his other concerts. Maybe he doesn't need them since it's just the piano accompanying him?
@genemichael9278
@genemichael9278 8 жыл бұрын
I doubt he's lip-syncing. Ear monitors are used to compensate in concerts with many instruments & loud crowd noises so the artist can stay in-sync with the music. He's playing piano softly & there's the guitarist in the background, but it's essentially an "unplugged live style" performance. There would be no need for ear-monitors nor to lip-sync. I think this is all Jonathan, pure & natural. Probably why the performance comes across as so genuine.
@24HRdreamerMusicFan

It says on the video title...on Nashville (the show) so my guess...this is more a staged performance specifically for the show. I noticed some other comments saying it was their favorite episode. He could however been singing live at the moment, but my guess they made sure they had a good recorded version for the show. Love the song.
@gorjessalsa
@gorjessalsa 7 жыл бұрын
He's not lip-syncing. He's just THAT good :) Like Gene Michael said, doubt he'd need monitors when it's a simple & unplugged as this. Although the audio sounds a bit distorted and tinny on this vid but that's probably just youtube. It's a lovely song & gorgeous delivery by Jonathan. I don't know anyone who manages to put so much feeling into anything he sings.
