#1 Start early, saving/spending habits in one's early 20's are worth 10x the same habits in one's 50's. #2 Always be exploring new careers. The job market is changing faster now than ever in the past and those who can pivot quickly are more likely to be millionaires. #3 $1 million is like $250k in 2000. Goal for those in their 20's needs to be $10 mil, so it's going to be a long few decades. I read and followed "Millionaire Next Door" long before FIRE, MMM, Dad Ramsey, goofy minimalist vloggers (this is not a new "movement") Both of my grandpas were minimalist FIRE who were retired in their 40's, only worked for challenge/fun later in their lives.

Spot on. My parents lived a very simple life.....home cooked food, regular exercise......GOOD health on account of the above 2 points....resulting in practically no medical expenses, simple vacation spots close to the city, small house, no crazy expensive festivals etc. They were looked down upon by others in the family but they stuck to their lifestyle.....and all their savings were invested in long term investment vehicles. By the time they decided to ease out in their early 50's...they had 3 fully paid off houses and a fair amount of shares that gave them more dividends than their expenses. They are stress free while others in the family who splurged are now FORCED to cut down. Minimalism and simple living is something that ALL cultures were aware of in the past.....it's only after the mass production of consumer goods and easy availability of loans that people got addicted to this crappy slave lifestyle. I was an idiot who was a bit late to the minimalist party....but at least I didn't totally fuck it up. Your money or your life, The millionaire next door & Early retirement extreme were the books that slapped some serious sense into me. People really should look into developing low cost hobbies rather than depend on what the consumer culture is offering.....you end up not only developing some very important skills but also slowly decouple yourself from the consumer slave culture.

If you frontload the work, investing, and sacrifice in your 20s, it's a very simple and easy life. In my mid thirties, I'm making $190k with a NW of $2.3M. I'm not a software developer just grinded away in accounting like Cappy always shills for. Never really was interested in consooming stupid shit. At this point, I wonder if it makes sense to keep growing it or try and experience the world a bit more. I recently moved out of the US and now just taking it a bit slower. When you get outside the US, you start to see how much of winning lottery ticket it is being born in the US as far as wealth building opportunities. $2.3M is enough for me in the US to live comfortably but I worry about inflation. Outside the US, I'm easily affording luxuries like nice meals or hotels. Even then, I have so much leftover I just reinvest it.

21:30 - Hey, I’m not a boomer but I sold my lake house and moved my young family into a 2 br/2bth fifth wheel. Went from a $2K/month note to a $540/month note. Insurance and utilities is about 1/3 to 1/2 as much as well. I can’t believe Gen Z & Millennials haven’t figured this one out yet in terms of cutting down costs of housing, lol. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A BACHELOR. I’m pulling this off with a wife and two daughters, lol. RV’s and 5th wheels = auto loan purchase prices BUT WITH MORTGAGE LOAN TERMS. Yes, you read correctly. When you buy an RV, the norm is a 20-yr loan @ 8%. My brand new fifth wheel (2023 model) was marked half-off, from $120K MSRP to $60K. Hence, I put $3500 down altogether on a $60K purchase over 20-yrs and my monthly note is only $540/month. Saving about $1800/month by downgrading to this from a lake home, yet I took a new job out-of-state making 30% more than I did while in the lake home. Increasing income while decreasing cost of living. The peace of mind is excellent and allows me to take my time with home buying. In fact, there is a huge business opportunity in setting up an RV park just outside of an urban zone and offering all of the amenities of a apartment complex, only you charge rent for an RV slip inside a gated, armed-security park for Gen Mills and Gen Z’s to have an affordable housing. If you make $50-70K/yr, you can go buy a new or lightly used RV for similar prices to what I paid. Your rent would be around $3-600/month and utilities in the $75-200 range depending on size of RV and life-style preferences.

I mostly play videogames in front of my desk when I'm home. So, do I even need to have a big nice place with nice view? no. Because that will be spending a lot of money in places that I don't care. I just get a room and it's enough. I rented a big place before, what I learn after 1 year is, I don't need that much space anyway. Some parts were used, the other parts you never even touch for a whole year. And it was a pain to clean. I learned my living pattern. People spends 30%-50% of their income on rent, thinking it's normal. The more you earn, the more you upgrade your rent and living cost. It doesn't have to. If people calculate my income based on my rent, I sounds like I earn minimum wage. Can't comprehend that I have enough income to pay a whole year of rent with my 1 month of income, and still have leftovers. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy my money. I have 4080 pc, and still buy some collectibles hobbies. And what's make you smile even more is knowing your whole month of living cost is only 20% of your net income. work for 1 month and get 5 months of living cost for free. Now work for 10 years. That's retirement funds wrapped. If interest - inflation >= 2%. I'm 37, I don't need to work for the rest of my life. I still do, but while I still can, why not. I just don't have any pressure to work any harder anymore. Now saving for stuff I can enjoy when I retire. What's made it possible to have almost no spending? I'm 5.3, and I look broke.

@@JohnMcAfee-se9ms Yeah, go around for cheap. I also go out at low cost, still like a broke guy 15 years after college. I have buddies also to do stuff with me. I don't need to "connect" and impress strangers who I will never see again ever in my life. Don't lifestyle creep, like you have to rent expensive place to impress gf or something. Like if renting a room 800, 1 bedroom apt 1800. those 1000 a month is a lot in the long run. this is the wasted effort. Oh you get a job, you want to show that you are better than you were, upgrade lifestyle. Oh you get a raise, you want to impress your girlfriend that you are on the path to success. upgrade lifestyle. These are the wasted efforts. If she wants to stay without you upgrading your lifestyle, she would. If not, then the moment you don't have your upgraded lifestyle anymore, she's gone. in which another years of wasted efforts.

People spend waaayy too much on things they don't need. I bought my house from my parents when they downsized. It went from them barely getting by in 2 incomes, to me thriving on 1 income. First thing I did was cut out $175 a month in streaming services and a $90 a month internet bill, which is totally unneeded with a $100 a month unlimited data phone plan. $265 a month in savings right there (over $3000 a year)! It's amazing how much nonsense you can cut out of peoples expenses when they tell you they broke.

I bought my AMG because I love it. It's my favorite part of every day. It's paid off. I'll be doing something and think man I can't wait to be done with this and get in my beautiful, fun, amazing looking and sounding car. The secret to these German vehicles is to buy them about 4 years old (peak depreciation) and add an extended 4 year warranty on it. Rule #1 never buy new. Not worth it. The warranty will pay for the $1800 a/c compressor job. You get everything in mint condition by those 4 years then you're good to go. I'll admit my house is not paid off though. That would be too impressive. If you want to talk about consumers the worst offenders are the daily starbucks/fast food people. And the people who are subscribed to 20 different online/app services. 5 years of that is enough to pay off a used benz. Also you need to do months of research to know exactly which car to buy. And try to know about the previous owner... it has to be a very calculated decision exactly like buying real estate. I get a lot of free clothes from work. When it comes to fancy I prefer to just wear Ralph Lauren. No European clothing. Europeans have the cars right, and the clothes wrong. American cars are absolutely dog💩 and I've driven plenty of them.

Speaking as a man who has done it, THIS IS 100% TRUE! I chose the 2-year community college route (cost just a few hundred dollars a quarter, so no loan), I worked 13+ years at a blue collar job, avoided the marriage trap, avoided the children trap, avoided the debt trap, lived a minimalist lifestyle, retired from the workforce at 36, millionaire at 46. Yet I still live in a tiny 700 sqft 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom home, drive a 2015 Nissan, all my furniture was bought used or given to me from people who upgraded, clothes from Goodwill (just like Cappy), and guess what....I actually do sleep on a futon! I'm sitting on it right now as I type this, and my ex-girlfriend hated it and wanted me to replace it with a real bed. Haha! If you simply save your money, invest it, and avoid the traps, then you typically can do pretty well for yourself given enough time.

Hahaha 😂 no offense but what's the point of money if, in addition to security and peace of mind, you don't get to live well and share it with loved ones, family and friends? You sound like a miser.. and so do a lot of people in the comments, but hey I don't know your story. If you're happy it's not my place to judge.. but it is noteworthy to me the price you pay for having financial reserves and I naturally take note of what your mind chooses to optimize for. Financial security matters. That's why I'm here but to me that would be a suboptimal outcome and nothing I would be joyful about but again to each their own.

@@avasdv I made a very modest income before retirement, so saving and investing was the best way for me to advance financially. I'd still be scraping by living paycheck-to-paycheck like most of my former colleagues had I not been so disciplined and frugal. So, I'd say it was worth it. As for my family, I've been managing my mother's assets for years and I actually made her a millionaire a few years ahead of me, so she's pleased with my contribution to the family. More importantly she lives just 20 minutes away and we visit every week. The purpose of my post was to validate Cappy's video and encourage men with modest means who value financial security. It can be done, but not if you spend it all away like most people do.

Consume less than you produce. That’s what you’ve said over the first 20 minutes. Also known as “austerity”. I also think men must stay in front of the tides of change, which means you not only save your value-added earnings, you convert it into knowledge, training, skills and scaleable assets that do two things: 1) Grow your wealth 2) Makes you less dependent on anyone else, especially society and institutions. We’ll call it “asset & wealth sovereignty”. For me, that looks like a farmstead, where I have on-going unlimited beef for consumption. Sheep, goats and chickens. Beans, bullets and band-aids.

@@CM-cy3qo It's better to enjoy the picture on the right when you know you don't have to enter into debt for it than it is to stress about if you can pay it off and how much more hours in the office you will have to be afterwards. Also heavy stress tends to reduce average lifespan by 2.8 years, so if you wait a bit and are able to live somewhat humbly without much debt like the picture on the left for a few years and be able to afford stuff like on the right later without debt, then you technically can enjoy it for longer as well.
