I needed this so much. I am going to start working on my attitude (being annoyed) towards things my children need. I’m not like this all the time but I think it is what is affecting my 8 year old sons heart attitude. He’s the child that takes after me the most in defiance and independence and we are more likely to butt heads during the day.

Your insight on parenting is wonderful, thank you! It reminds me of the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) interaction with children. One mother gave her young son Anas to aid the Prophet when he was only ten years old. Anas reported: I served the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for ten years. By Allah, he never even said to me, “Uff!” He never said harshly, “Why did you do that?” or, “Why did you not do that?”.

@SimplyCharlotteMason7 ай бұрын
Hi, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feelings of being overwhelmed. We have all been there as homeschooling parents. Give yourself and your children a lot of grace. While it is easy to see all of the work that needs to be done in their lives and in your own, you have time to accomplish it, start small and don't be too hard on yourself or on them. Here is a post to encourage you in this. Let Us Not Grow Weary simplycharlottemason.com/blog/let-us-not-grow-weary/ If you are feeling overwhelmed with the habit training aspect of teaching, remember one habit at a time. Start small and manageable. You as the parent are not expected to be perfect in your habits before beginning with your children, you can start right alongside them. It is work and it can be very challenging, however you can all make progress with consistent effort toward a manageable goal. Here is a helpful post for getting started. simplycharlottemason.com/blog/habits-q-a-introduction-to-habit-training/ If you are feeling overwhelmed with your homeschooling schedule. Simplify it! If you are new to Charlotte Mason's methods, here is a great post on how to ease into this style of educating your children. simplycharlottemason.com/blog/transition-to-cm-basics/ If you are starting from scratch and have not yet started to homeschool but plan to, here is a great post on how to get started. simplycharlottemason.com/blog/starting-charlotte-mason-from-scratch/ If you are feeling disappointed by unfinished plans for your year, here is a post to encourage you. simplycharlottemason.com/blog/what-to-do-when-last-years-homeschool-plan-is-unfinished/ Praying for you today, please reach out with any additional questions that you may have, we are here to help you in your homeschooling journey!

Praying right alongside you, it is not easy especially when you have added challenges in your life. Changing habits is a challenge, even if you are not where you would like to be yet, keep going, here is a post to encourage you in that. simplycharlottemason.com/blog/let-us-not-grow-weary/ Continue to lean into God, pray, and ask him for the strength to keep going. simplycharlottemason.com/blog/god-and-habit-training/

@@SimplyCharlotteMason thank you. Your words have encouraged me. I’ll be reading those blog posts for sure. God is so faithful and has been so patient with me. I’ve homeschooled my older two, going into our eighth year now. But even with them, I haven’t been nearly as disciplined or balanced as I want to be. My oldest is beginning 9th grade and the anticipation of it has pushed me to try and completely change the trajectory of our homeschool journey, especially with the trauma we’ve endured the last few years. The Lord is ever-so-gently leading me to this method, especially with my youngest! He answers prayers!
