See, KZbin? Now THIS is a good recommendation!! And it's from a smaller channel, even better! Sorry, I'm very excited, this video speaks to me so much 😭 I'm a few years older than the majority of booktubers and I tend to let my ADHD run on camera, but you reminded me that someone might find it valuable ❤❤❤

Haha I’m so glad the video speaks to you!!! Our age gives us wisdom and we need more representation so I’m glad to hear from another smaller channel. I hope you are able to find your people, the ones who appreciate ADHD run on. I’m hoping they find me too. Haha Edit: I checked out your channel… you like you are in your 20s…. How old are most booktubers?

Thank you so much for this video - the "beyond your prime" and being invisible as a woman is something I'm starting to feel, especially in the very ageist society (Korea) I live in. I appreciate seeing women from all kinds of backgrounds and at all stages of life sharing their art and creativity or personal life, even, and videos and hearing voices really makes me feel more connected than the endless curated images of social media overall. And you saying that you don't like to do the same thing all the time... that really is a lesson to learn. Balance is everything, and videos can celebrate that. I love your art supply videos, but it's always so much more interesting to see the person behind the art.
@heatherinde8 ай бұрын
You are welcome and although I’m sorry you are beginning to feel the effects of ageism. I checked out some of your videos and I’m glad you are out there creating and asking for your voice to be heard irregardless. Mature women have so much wisdom to offer (and I think it’s our wisdom that makes us most threatening to the patriarchy.) I appreciate that you are choosing to share. ❤️ Thank you for taking the time to pay attention to what I’m sharing. I’m also so glad you appreciate seeing the person behind the art. You are right balance is everything.

I agree, I just started my KZbin journey and I’m working on getting better behind the camera and finding time to actually sit and make a video. Dialing down to a specific niche doesn’t seem possible. I enjoy more of going all around so I choose the farm/homesteading/youtube journey life. Little bit of everything and the animals I have. Each video shows I attempt to try to get better. Trying to video with different scenery to add into the video. Seems impossible but doable and I’m learning it’s fun to actually document what I’m doing in the moment.
@heatherinde5 ай бұрын
I think a niche is a h good way to grow a channel but most peoples channels end up changing and being more diverse as they grow. In my case, I’d rather have some basic themes instead of a niche, even if that means I grow much more slowly. Farm/homesteading/youtube/life’s journey sounds like a fun mix! I’ve heard the advice improve 1 thing with each new video you make. Sounds like what you’re doing. I also find it fun to document what I’m doing in the moment.

Hi. I just randomly discovered your channel through this video in my recommended. I started posting on youtube last year and have recently come back after a long burnout. Im mentally disabled, so all of the tutorials that mention posting super often are too much for me. I use to post once a week but that made me burnout. Now i post once every other week--so much better! When you talked about self care and scheduling, i was like "yes! A youtuber that actually mentions the practical stuffs"stuffs i have to do self care a lot because my mental disability makes life difficult to handle. Like i woke up from having a bad migriane today, so i know i cannot edit my next video today. I guess i will go and paint instead. Thankies so much for posting this. I will go check out your video about your disability now. Maybe i will get the courage to talk about my mental disability someday.

Welcome back from your burnout and congratulations for moving through it. I’m glad my sharing the practical stuff has helped you. I try so hard to post every week but it isn’t possible without pushing myself past my limits. Thank you for sharing your struggles and how you have handled it. It makes me feel less alone. I’m glad you feel you can paint with a migraine. When I get a headache painting is not an option. I hope you do find the courage to share. Our stories matter, they are valid and we are underrepresented. If you do share please leave us a link to it.

THIS IS SO WHOLESOME! Was surprised by what seemed like a random recommendation, but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you. As someone who is also neurodivergent and is thinking about starting her own channel, this was perfectly timed. I love your kind demeanour, pace of your talking, and the fact there's no music?? KZbin has become such an overstimulating platform, so your channel is such a nice little safe corner in the internet. Would love to see your editing process, and how you accommodate your disabilities in the workflow (whenever you're ready to share :) )

I hope you do start your own channel. We need more representation. Our voices deserve to be heard. ❤️ I’m glad you enjoyed the no music. I do put music in some of my other videos but I don’t like it myself when music is playing the whole time someone is talking so I tend to use it sparingly for that reason exactly. I’m glad my corner feels like a safe space. Anything in particular you would looked to see about the editing process? I’m slowly planning a video or videos about how I do it.

Yay for this inspiration! I am enjoying finding small channels. I’ve had my channel for about two years and haven’t done much with it because…life and some other reasons which I now plan to make videos about. I’m no longer letting life get in the way and committing to a video a week for one year. I have one subscriber. yay😂 Haha. I have always been nervous about being on camera because I am blind in one eye. I appreciated you talking about your disability - my eye is one of mine, and I’m terribly self-conscious of it. But I think making videos about that will help me address that. Appreciate your video and glad to have found you!

I’m so glad you feel like my video inspired you. I worked hard to hide my disabilities when I first started making youtube videos. Partly from shame and partly from wanting privacy but I follow so many wonderful content creators who share their experiences as disabled people. They have taught me so much and so I decided to follow that path instead and stop trying to making the disability part of my life private. I certainly feel more comfortable discussing my disabilities than I did before. Good luck on your journey!

Everything in this video is what I have been struggling with pretty much. I've been on a hiatus trying to figure my life out for so long now that I've had a kid and I feel like it's pointless to start on my channel again. Then... a few weeks ago I got diagnosed with ADHD and it has put everything into perspective and really helped me understand why it's been so hard. It kind of feels like something's clicked and I can embrace that part of me because I understand it a bit better, and for the first time in years I feel hopeful for the future. I have so much footage I've recorded in the meantime, that I have no idea how I'll find the time to edit any of it haha! Thank you so much for sharing your journey ❤. I started my KZbin channel in 2020 at the age of 38, but have been on a long hiatus for nearly 2 years. Now, at 41(almost 42), I want to start making videos again but continue to let perfectionism and comparison get in my way. As someone who is also neurodivergent and carries insecurities about being an older person in this space- I hear you on the camera angles 😆 Your message has resonated deeply. I also struggle with occasional bouts of depression and often feel like people won't want to see me if I'm low energy at times. But I want to be here. I don't see myself represented on YT and I'm sure there are others out there wishing they could see a queer neurodivergent super-geek witchy mom doing her best to make life magical for herself and her family. Thanks for reminding me why I started my channel in the first place.
@heatherinde8 ай бұрын
I’m so glad I reminded you why you made your channel in the first place. I know that our age set is underrepresented and the algorithm might be biased against us, however, I know that that will just mean that things take longer for me. Being an older person I’ve learned patience. Haha Well sort of but I’m more patient than I used to be and although it might take me longer….if I consistently show up…..I’ll still get there. I think a lot of people will love watching you be you. I’ve subscribed now, so that makes at least 395 of us. I get you on the recording in a low mood. I’m do film when I’m feeling low sometimes and when I do I include it because I think its real but its usually in a vlog and its just part of the journey. I usually don’t want to pick up the camera when I’m not feeling happy anyway….so there is less footage of bad moods than happy moods. I think that’s fine if that’s my boundary but also fine when I choose to share. I know a lot of people can relate to not being always happy. Haha
