I watch a bunch of essay channels on KZbin including some mentioned in this speech, but what sets Evan apart to me is his unmistakable passion for anything he chooses to talk about, and especially for learning, which in turn gives viewers like myself a bigger passion for learning as well. Keep up the good work, man.

Im not even joking when Im saying this but I think it would be cool if he did a video essay in how he spoke, or just a study on how presenters speak. Kind of like what he did with in his video about Trump.

Yes I agree with Luna, I think it would be fascinating if you did a video on public speaking!

ムーン No person goes on Ted talk without learning a script by heart beforehand :) His talk about video essays was written by him like the scripts of his videos, that's why he sounds the so much the same ^^ Don't think he always sounds like that but I've really gotta respect how professionally he manages to speak infront of a crowd! probs

HI, Composition Teacher here. I didn't study Literature. I studied Rhetoric and Composition. I agree with him insofar as literature is a poor discipline to teach generalized academic writing skills. But the composition class isn't there to teach you how to write an essay. It's there to teach you how to make academic arguments in whatever field of study you choose in the future. Academic papers most certainly DO require you to write strong topic sentences and pick a position and defend it. That's how the university creates knowledge. What he's talking about is a genre of writing called creative non-fiction. Writing that uses non-fiction genre's to create a more artistic or thoughtful piece of writing. KZbin adds a wonderful multi-modal aspect to the genre of the creative-nonfiction essay that can be mass produced and widely circulated. I agree that it's a wonderful thing, but it's not better or more than the traditional academic essay.
