I am so glad you started this video by telling people to unplug the unit from the mains first. So many "how to" videos omit that essential piece of advice.

This is why I like white knight dryers. They are like the hotpoint washers and dryers. Basic and easy to work on. Great video as always

They stopped making them 18 months ago. No more Dryers.

Tip : replace rivets with M5 16mm Dome head bolts & M5 Nylon threaded nuts. These fit the spider bearing perfectly.
@derekcoleman89852 жыл бұрын
I thought about doing that, however the drum gets hot which may cause an issue with the nyloc nuts. At the extreme end may be a fire hazard. Im open to replies if anyone has a view.
@Toob41 Жыл бұрын
@@derekcoleman8985 Agreed, the nyloc inserts could melt. I'm using stainless button head bolts and two plain nuts locked together 🤞.
@chris1717chris Жыл бұрын
Great videos. Thank you. I was able to drill out the old rivets today and used 16mm x 4.8 Magnusson rivets from B&Q. Make sure you rivet from the inside of the drum out, so the smooth head is inside the drum, protecting the clothes.
@kevinpeters5000 Жыл бұрын
I used some 25mm M6 bolts as I had them available, but had to drill the spider out very slightly. 25mm bolts are a bit long - 16 or 20mm would better. I also went with nyloc nuts. The instructions say to use some electrically conductive grease between the screw head and conductive strip but I couldn't find anything reasonable anywhere! What did other people use? Finally, the new bearing still had quite a lot of play in it so I suspect the spider assembly is also worn but these no longer seem to be available. However, the clunking/banging sound has now stopped with the replacement of the bearing and rivets. Only time will tell how long this lasts.

The 3 legged spider assembly connected to the drum has ovalized on mine, where can I find that part?

I dismantled like you said but the rivets on the drum were broken, can I replace those? Ivan

I recently replaced the drum & bearings in my whiteknight eco83a however the replacement drum didn’t have the brush runner strip. Am I right in thinking the drum brush is for the moisture sensors? As the sensor dry no longer functions correctly.

Is it the same bearing kit for the gas tumble dryers?
@Ronnie10015 жыл бұрын
A quick (hopefully obvious) clarification at 1m55s onwards - he is using pointy-nosed "radio pliers" to PULL the connectors off, not side-cutters to snip the wires off...!!! :)

I've fitted bearing kit all okay but still loose , spider housing I guess is worn too , I think I left it too late before replacing the bearing . I cant see how you can buy/ replace spider.
@moozeek6 жыл бұрын
Any advice if the bearing bracket is loose? I was thinking of using epoxy over and around the rivets to stop it rattling. Just a bit concerned about the heat. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I've just done this today but forgot to apply the grease. How important is it? Should I take it all apart again to apply the grease?

What is the symptom of a failing bearing? My dryer makes a regular ‘clunk’ when rotating but there doesn’t appear to be any lift of tight spots in the drum, I’d like to be able to buy parts before taking it apart as it’s a pain removing being integrated
@Law_Abiding_Citizen_ok Жыл бұрын
Think you may find that the actual drum is cracking by the rivets and on every rotation it makes an awful clunking noise. You may be able to see the cracks by looking inside the drum through the loading door if your dryer is built-in.
@beezergood Жыл бұрын
Our dryer is doing exactly that - one clunk per revolution of the drum. I’ve taken it apart and the plastic bearing is very worn. I will replace it and report back.
@cdbecdbe23924 ай бұрын
Would be good to hear it running with the failed bearing to confirm fault diagnosis.
@cdbecdbe23923 ай бұрын
I've done this repair now. What you're likely to find is additional wear in addition to the bearing - especially if you've ignored the noise for a while! The aluminium spider that's riveted to the drum - rivets likely to be loose - solve by drilling out and replacing with nuts and bolts, the housing that the bearing sits in could be worn so the new bearing is not a tight fit - it will need sleeving. Mine was so worn I was able to fit a piece of 22mm copper pipe with a cut (hacksaw or angle grinder) along it's length in and then hammer the bearing in. I've made similar repairs previously with a bit of tin can if a thinner walled sleeve is needed. Mine is back together and running - it's making the odd grinding noise which I'm hoping is the bodgery with the spider "bedding in" fingers crossed.

These really are great videos. However the link on the RH side to the part in question is broken. And if you go to the website you cant find the part because there are thousands and no way of filtering.

Hi i changed my vent hose. Then started using it and it's now making clunking noise. Took it apart to have a look. when I spin the drum it clunk's you can also feel the clunk on your hand. What do you think ,any advice

HELP 🙏 I tried taking the back off to clean away the dust/lint, instead of taking top off I just unscrewed the main back panel, upon trying to remove the panel the whole guts came with it, so heavy it's dropped & due to wires etc still being intact I found myself holding on for dear life to try to line the panel back up to the screw holes which almost impossible, I had no choice but to turn dryer on it's front & force the panel enough to put screws back in, now the Drum won't turn at all, why is the Panel not just coming away easily without the whole unit attached to it, despite removing the Screws 😢
